This book drops off the Dark Iron Spy, which you get a quest to kill from Thelesmar, in Loch Modan, at about level 12..

I've yet to go to each of the places, and see if there's anything there. I'll update if I end up doing it.

EDIT: Confirmed.. All of the places listen in the book lead to a stolen Explorer's League scroll. There are six total, and they can all be turned in at Thelsmar. They aren't really out of the way of most of the questing you'll probably end up doing, so no real reason not to.

All of the locations do indeed have a scroll and a quest for you. To make things easier, I gathered up all of the coordinates for you.

Explorers' League Document (1 of 6) - 37.0, 61.3
Explorers' League Document (2 of 6) - 41.4, 39.0
Explorers' League Document (3 of 6) - 61.7, 73.2
Explorers' League Document (4 of 6) - 68.1, 66.1
Explorers' League Document (5 of 6) - 53.7, 38.1
Explorers' League Document (6 of 6) - 73.2, 35.9

After finding all 6 and turning in the quests, your reward is: Heartfelt Appreciation.

If you like, you should be able to safely sell this off after you're done. It remains in your inventory throughout. They'll give you 12 copper!

Interesting note: each quest item spot has a rare spawn near it. I got so lucky I killed a rare spawn at all 6 of the locations.

Ashtail, Whitefin, Nix, Shandra the Spinner, Morick Darkbrew and Magosh. So keep your eyes out! Some of them pat a little but if you're lucky you'll snag some easy exp/loot (Shandra's a bit tough)

Reference to the very old D&D adventure "Tomb of Horrors", in which, among many other deadly traps, there was an open-mouthed statue with a Sphere of Annihilation hidden inside - anything placed inside the statue's mouth, like rocks, weapons, sticks, or hands, simply vanished.

Pity the poor fools who stuck their head into the idol's mouth to investigate...
