I suspect this is Blizzard's way of saying that the Kirin Tor is not totally perfect. They're just as corrupt as any other organization on Azeroth, and they just put on the guise of innocence.

I'm not sure about this, but it might be a reference to the novel The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. Edmond Dantès also doesn't know why he's unjustly imprisoned. Also, he does find out why he was in prison when he breaks out and starts his "new/another life" as the Count of Monte Cristo.

I too believe this is a reference to the Count of Monte Cristo. When he escapes the prison he begins his 'new' life, first as a pirate (nicknamed 'Driftwood') and later after discovering a treasure from his prison partner becomes a Count.

Really quite an excellent story.
