Wintergrasp Rank is supposed to carry through death. However, at the time of posting this, there is an issue with Shadow of Death (a Death Knight talent that turns you into a ghoul when you die), that causes you to lose your rank when you die.

There's also issues with Shadow of Death turning you into a ghoul while you're rezzing, but that can be clicked off and is irrelevant anyway.

Rank is supposed to stay whether you die or not, but there are bugs with Death Knights (and I have experienced this first hand).

Either way, the whole issue is mostly irrelevant, it'll be fixed hopefully soon, and they'll probably add things that need these marks soon. Currently, they're useless.

You can recieve Wintergrasp marks of honor ONLY if you get rank during Wintergrasp battle.Easiest way to get starting rank is to kill opposite fraction's guards that fight around the field(also you can kill opposite fraction's players if you find any).Also would be nice to make raid with other participating players for better performance in battle.

In Patch 3.0.8,you will be able to trade 9 Wintergrasp Marks of Honor for 1 Wintergrasp Commendation.

From the official PTR Patchnotes:

* Wintergrasp Commendations can now also be purchased for the low low price of 9 Wintergrasp Marks of Honor. Players can visit their respective Wintergrasp vendors and put those Marks of Honor to use!

Finally something useful to do with those marks =)

Usable to purchase pvp-oriented (read: with Resilience) epic iLvl 200 (Hateful Gladiator level) helm/feet/trinket slot items in 3.0.8.
Helms (with meta socket) will be 40 marks, feet 15 and trinkets 25.

All in all even more incentive to participate in Wintergrasp aside from the grotesquely lucrative honor gains.

Iv got a problem getting these, if i lose i get 1, if i win, i dont get any. I participate for the entire thing and reach the last rank but i never get the marks when i win, or the achievement for winning

For some reason, both my characters (80 Paladin, 78 Druid) are both capped at 50 marks of honour... I wish I could figure why! Hopefully new patch will fix it.

Problem with Wintergrasp is that you are not automatically in a raid when you enter the zone.
Usually I have no problem joining a raid by asking in general but you have to ask unlike Warhammer which has open groups. The problem is much worse at night when there are fewer people playing.
Suppose you cannot get into a raid or are in a very small raid does that mean you are penalized because you get less kills than others even with the same amount of effort?

This post is not necessarily correct, it's spinning Wintergrasp negatively

1) You do not need to get in a raid to experience WG
2) You can rank up just for standing in the vicinity of a HK by any person in WG
3) You can get 100% of the honor and bonus honor, even without being in a raid

The real issue is that you are basically required to be in a raid to do the daily quests in WG

1) "Slay Them All" gives credit for killing blows, not HKs, therefore benefits raids
2) "Defend the Siege" gives credit for wall destruction from raid members

So, patch 3.08 came out today, but I was unable to see if you could now redeem the marks because apparently, whenever WG is won the world server shuts down. Anybody got a link for the new items or will they come with 3.11?

No Tanking Trinkets?

The Anvil of Titans is sort of an interesting tanking trinket, actually... The proc tends to happen at or near the start of a pull, giving you a leg up on threat generation, and the 84 resilience negates 1% of crits on you. For those tanks who are complaining about a lack of defense moving from defense-oriented blues to early epics with more spread-out stat budgets (i.e. Death Knights), this can make you crit-immune without forcing you to gimp yourself on other stats. Of course this is less of an issue with Stoneskin Gargoyle, but the Anvil can still be worth considering - you gain 1% avoidance and then some by switching to Swordshattering. Depending on what your other trinket options are, this may be a good trade.

PvP activities reward you with PvP gear for the most part. With few exceptions, tanking is not a PvP activity. It's all about killing. Thus, no tanking gear.

Does anyone know if 3.1 will introduce new items that can be bought with WG marks of honor... or Stone-keeper's shards for that matter? I'm debating on holding on to mine until 3.1 now that I bought all I need for my main spec (bear/cat), or spend now for my PvP off-spec (tree).

I was in wintergrasp and we were the attackers. I defended some workshops and didn't reach the last rank, so i only got 2 marks, Which Sucks! I had to defend cuz we had less workshops and for doing that (doing maybe the most important job) i only got 2 marks....

Neck - iLvl 245, 25 Marks each

You can use this, as well as honor, to "fake" Epic achievement.
You just need to buy items, equip them and sell back.
You can get epic head, neck,shoulders, chest, wrists, belt, boots, rings and trinkets using this trick. You only have to find hands(can be bought with honor), weapon and ranged to complite the achievement.

There are different kind of trinklets with the option "remove movement imparing effects".
If you get two of these trinklets (meaning two different trinklets. I know they are unique and you can't have two. I KNOW THAT!), can you use the same power twice? or both of your trinklets will go to cool down time after the use of one of them?
