These potions absorb a fair amount of frost damage, and would probably change the tide in duels, arenas, and definitely boss fights like Hydross the Unstable in SSC.

Very few people seem to be aware of its existence... Me included, untill I was pondering what I could do to make my upcoming first encounter with Sapphiron easier :)

I remembered that before the average guild was geared in epics that it was almost mandatory to use Greater Fire Protection Potion when first facing Ragnaros in the Molten Core, which lead me here eventually :)

Took me about an hour of farming before I got hold of the recipe. I realize that in vanilla-WoW this potions buff lasted for an hour, or untill 1950 ~ 3250 fire damage was absorbed. From what I understood they changed it to a 2 minute duration because people could simply take the potion and wait a few minutes untill the potions cooldown passed, making it possible to use a second Greater Fire Protection Potion as soon as the effect of the previous one wore off.

Made a bunch of Mighty Frost Protection Potion nonetheless, I'm really wondering if it gives a noticable difference. Also a good moment to test wether the absorbing effect ignores a players own frost resistance, or if that is calculated before the actual damage is absorbed :)

Okay that totally backfired... I took a big chug from my Mighty Frost Protection Potion and instantly froze... It seems +480 frost-res combined with this potion gets you, erhm, icecubed.

On the upside, I have established that it takes ~229 days for ice to come into thermal equilibrium with northrend's summer-enviroment!

This is verrry useful for heroic Anub'arak 25, but only if your DPS is high enough to get him into phase 3 before he burries a third time without a destruction potion.
