not too shabby a tanking weapon. so far in the 5-man dungeons i've yet to see a decent tanking weapon drop.

This weapon seems pretty underwhelming for its level requirement. For comparison, Fang of Truth also requires level 78, but it has 14.1 more dps and a good chunk of hit rating, in addition to most of the other stats that this weapon has. Furthermore, that weapon only requires Honored rep level with the Wyrmrest Accord.

Why is there such a huge discrepancy in item level between these two rep rewards that have the same level requirement?

Well, Surely this is a great tanking mace before some actual heroic drops. But to compare this to like Hammer of the Quiet Mourning which is a reward from the Wanted: Ragemane's Flipper quest in Zul'Drak id choose the Hammer of the Quiet Mourning over anything else since its also got defense along with the dodge.

The Wanted: Ragemane's Flipper quest is a great quest for anyone searching for a decent tanking weapon to replace their old 70 ones.

Not a bad Tanking weapon if your just starting out. You have to remember that Alliance Vanguard rep is so absurdly easy to get that this is pretty much a reward for hitting level 78.

So of course it will be swiftly replaced.

On my DK i have these for taning offset cause there nice weps with the dodge and didnt want to have to spend big bucks or time in heroics to get stuff for an offset

From the viewpoint of a warrior, you can get at level 74 (with help of course) so I would probably skip this. But I'd recommend buying since its a pretty nice gun for a tank. Also I would suggest you also skip the since you'll be able to pick from the auction house for around 50g and a level earlier.

I may be wrong though :p
