Didn't these used to be "Increases Intellect by 48"? I thought so anyway, and even wowwiki still lists them as +48. When did they drop in value anyway? Probably with the Great Cataclysm Downgrade of 2010. "The Great Cataclysm Downgrade of 2010" you may be wondering? Absolutely! When Cataclysm went live, my lvl 80 Balance Druid was reduced in power by more than 15% in one day. Not only did her general stats drop somewhat, all buffs were revamped, combined, and downgraded. Mark of the Wild / Gift of the Wild suddenly lost about 50% of its potency (change in stats), and is no longer unique. It is now identical to and won't stack with the Paladin's Blessing of the Kings buff, and may be the same as some other characters' buffs as well. I only noticed these changes because I went out on a typical solo farming run and was suddenly dying all over Northrend where I'd normally had no problems just the day before... I guess maybe it's my own fault for 'not getting with the program' and running out on Day One to buy the new Cataclysm Downgrade (so I could build my stats back up to where I'd already had them).

They also made it so that scrolls and elixirs are identical and won't stack. I'm wondering what the heck is going on at Blizzard personally, especially since scrolls now count as "Battle Elixirs". Being an alchemist, I'm offended that scrolls suddenly count as Battle Elixirs. The Enchanting and Alchemy markets are now in direct competition. A scroll is an enchantment, and an elixir is, well, an elixir. I used to buff with both scrolls and elixirs, but now I no longer use scrolls at all. Sorry enchanters, I used to like buying from you, and I hope you enjoyed buying elixirs from us alchemists as well. Guess that's a thing of the past!

It seems to me that Blizzard is, in a lot of ways, simplifying this game to make it for children. With each new post-4.0 patch, my spells change, making them more and more idiot-proof. No longer do I have to think about what I'm doing, I'm just supposed to blindly and hyperactively press buttons as fast as I can in battle. Starfall, a spell with a long-cooldown, was something to hold in reserve and use to get out of trouble. It also used to hit anything in a certain range, meaning you had to be aware of where you were before you let it fly. But it's being turning it into just another button to push to increase DPS (for all those non-thinking simple-minded one-stat people who play the game).

All I can say is, I used to love using scrolls (in addition to all the other buffs). Boo Blizzard!
