Edit: I recently purchased this item and I must say its well worth the badges. I was in need of a chest upgrade as I was still wearing the Tunic of Assassination 0_0. Really can't go wrong with this fine piece of leather.

Since I been taking a look at all the potentiol feral loot and commented it, I will comment this too.
So my opinion is that this is ofc a dps-only chest and is useless as a feral tank.
However, my god what a dps-chest it is.

This chest beats the Embrace of Everlasting Prowess by far!

Gives you about 0.2% less crit but 34 more hit rating and 15 more ap!
So pick up this chest and you are alot closer to ur hit cap.

this item like many of the other new heroic badge items are retooled versions of bt items this one is https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=32252#comments
-all they really did is put the gem slot ilvl into the item stats itself

Haste rating is extremely inefficient for a feral druid, you're already at 1 sec attack speed.

For Druids 1 STR = 2 ap, 1 AGI = 1 ap, stamina int and armor dont contribute to DPS, both have a red socket with an identical bonus so they cancel each other out.

Embrace of Everlasting Prowess
+40 Strength = 80 ap
+49 Agility = 49 ap
Equip: Improves haste rating by 20 (1.27% @ L70).

129 ap + 20 haste
~142 ap with kings

Tunic of the Dark Hour
+44 Agility = 44 ap
Equip: Improves hit rating by 34 (2.16% @ L70).
Equip: Increases attack power by 102.

146 ap + 34 hit
~150 ap with kings

Not sure what the agility to crit ratio is for druids because I don't play one, but the Everlasting Prowess will give you slightly more crit than the Dark Hour (around 6 agility worth with kings, 5 without). However you get far more hit in the Dark Hour than you do haste in the Everlasting Prowess chest, which is good regardless of whether or not you are at the hit cap because then you can resocket +hit gems to +agi/str and increase your DPS further in that manner.

Edit: Also, I forgot to mention that there is no haste cap for melee classes. As a mage or any other caster class, the haste cap is equal to whatever gets your casting time lower than your global cool down time. However for melee classes our white dps is not hindered by a global cool down, so we can +haste all we want and still benefit from it. /endedit

That being said I look forward as a rogue to buying these and a couple other badge items come patch 2.4 after they are unlocked. Compared to my Wardens Hauberk with 3x +3 agi/hit gems this is a ridiculously massive upgrade. With a +4 agi/hit gem in this I keep the same amount of agility but get an additional +25 hit and +102 ap, as well as extra armor and stam.

Though some people might say this devalues T6 or something similar along those lines, both the 2 piece and 4 piece teir 6 bonuses for rogues are amazing and not worth breaking over how much this or other badge rewards are a stat-wise upgrade. As many people say, the badge gear is for people to experience as much endgame content before WotLK, as well as for those like myself who despite 4-5 weeks of running Kara, Gruuls, and Heroics have little to show for it in terms of gear because of a lack of my classes drops. Of my 8 epic gear pieces, 2 are badge rewards, 2 are T4, 2 are PvP rewards, and 1 is the violet signet rep reward, so only 3 of the 8 are from actual boss drops, and 2 of those are from guaranteed drop tier tokens.

As good as this item looks (and did originally look, to me) the rogue spreadsheet is actually reporting that S3 Chest is a bigger PVE DPS upgrade than this. Considering it's much easier to get than this, I've changed my mind - and thankfully before spending 100 Badges on it.

On the discussion of Haste:

Haste is not inefficient for Feral Druids who know to keep the 2-piece T4 bonus for DPS. Because this proc is percentage based, and not based on PPM, the more white hits you produce the higher your chances of proccing the Energy bonus in Cat form. This is exactly why the DST is one of the best trinkets for Druids in the game for damage.

Perhaps if you replace your T4 quality items with superior quality items that yield better crit/hit/AP gains, and perhaps if you replace that DST with a trinket boasting higher AP, you'll see more damage done per hit. But with T4, the DST, and a generous dollop of Haste here and there, you'll be generating *more hits*, which outweighs the amount of damage you gain from the superior DPS stats.

The more white hits you make, the more you proc 20 Energy. The more you proc 20 Energy, the faster you produce Yellow hits. The faster you produce Yellow hits, the faster you build up to a Rip, and the cycle continues. Haste is an excellent DPS stat for Druids, where you are able to apply it. (Despite the power of Haste, Hit/Expertise, Crit, and AP are still more valuable, so don't stack naught but Haste on your Cat gear.)

On the subject at hand, this is a pretty good item and certainly better for DPS than the Embrace of Everlasting Prowess assuming you are in need of Hit rating.

Adding my two cents here from a feral PoV. The hit from this chest along with others (Romulo's Poison Vial, etc) allow ferals to fully use their tiered sets while DPSing without having to worry about hit rating. I myself use this, 2/6 T6, 2/4 T4 and I gotta say I luv it.
As to the question of whether or not to get this over the feral chest? For DPS that is a definite NO. Haste in feral sets is designed to increase your threat generation more than just your DPS. Fine, you get your swing timer down to 0.5 seconds, but your energy regeneration is still @ 20 per tick (not counting T4 bonus) and your GCD is still @ 1 second time; where as in Bear Form, swing timer is @ 2.5 seconds where Ex 10% hast takes it down to 2.25 sec timer, aka haste=godlike. According to several models I have, you can get better through building an armor pen set or even a flat out crit set.

BTW I must say this, Romulo's Poison Vial + New Heroic Magister's DPS Trinkett = WTFPWN

Err there's no way you could really even compare s3 chest to this, this one is far superior to even t5 and not that much worse than t6 really if you forget the set bonus and think about it. I will definitely be picking this to my rogue.

Just caught this line. Uh, no.

You will NOT be able to get your attack speed that low with this and "a few other pieces". It's impossible. You need Bloodlust and Haste potions to do that. Go ahead, stack Haste with the Embrace, the Stickyfingers, Swiftstrike Bracers/Shoulders, and see your Attack Speed stay above .9.

That said if you can afford to stack Haste rating over Hit rating, go for it, there's nothing wrong with a .9 swing timer.

Easily the best chest before early Black Temple ( Nether Shadow Tunic from Supremus) or late Mh )for Midnight Chestguard from Archimonde). Depends on what your guild decides to run first. I would either socket this with 5 hit and 5 agility, unless you lack hit rating critically. If you lie around 320 hit rating however, I would go for the 10 agility socket.

It's kinda sad that there's only one socket, though.

Mhhm, but do you really think a serious raiding guild is going to let you join their BT/MH team in S4 gear knowing that you'll probably miss more than hit? :P
