it appears to be largely shw priest loot, followed somewhat closely by balance druid or ele shaman loot, though balance largely prefers hit and/or crit, and ele prefers crit, though all of the above benefit at least somewhat from haste

I would love this one for my Moonkin. Haste is great for Balance Druids now that it lowers the global cooldown too, so it isn't wasted on Wrath anymore and our spells scale very well with their casting speed.
Something that always gets overlooked, is the attack speed of caster weapons. Moonkins are the only ones where it matters and it only matters on some encounters. I like to have either 1.6 speed or 3.2 speed, depending on if it's a one- or two-handed weapon. When I solo or Moonkin tank, I can cast Wrath, so it's done within my swing timer and can almost spam it with a melee hit inbetween every Wrath without losing much of my dps/threat. Same with staffs and other slow (3.1-3.2 speed) weapons and two Wraths or one Starfire. Starfire with melee hits is nice on the few encounters where you can stand with the melee dps and still cast without pushback. Really boosts your mana regeneration, especially if you can somehow get a Blessing of Might and Battle shout on you.

Shadow priests will want the dagger, as it is superior in every other way except for the fact that mages and warlocks can also use daggers.

Would that be https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=34895? If so, I shall happily inform you that that dagger is inferior in every single way, as it has no haste and less spelldamage. If anything, the 42 stamina should have been on this mace, and the dagger should have had the high dmg and the haste-bonus. As it is now, the dagger will get sharded (mages/locks have better options available from BT/Hyjal) while spriests and palas fight for this mace.

Looking at this item's icon and then viewing its 3D graphics left me somewhat disappointed. One can hope that, as with some ZA loot, it will eventually be changed to more closely resemble its more interesting icon.

In 2.4 spell haste is going to reduce the cooldowns of your spells to 1 second at the lowest. For a Paladin tank, the spell used for AoE tanking is consecration and has an 8 second cooldown. Now imagine if the cooldown could be lowered to the 1 second low and laid one on top of the other. In the duration of the first consecration you would be able to use the spell 7 additional times. The result, if your consecration hits for 120 a second (being very conservative on that) you would deal almost 4k damage in the 8 second duration of the first consecration. Now couple that with improved righteous fury and you've got a godly amount of threat in the first 8 seconds of any fight.... Only problem would be mana cost, which could be solved by moving the mana reduction talent for consecration up to the top of the Holy Spec tree, or even over to protection, since I haven't seen a Holy Paly with any points in that talent, I don't see why it shouldn't move elsewhere to allow other specs to use the talent. Or you could spam consecrate then use a mana pot and continue tanking from there.... Either way, I would like to get a spell haste set and try this out..

it lowers the GLOBAL cooldown not cooldowns inherent on spells with a million spellhaste the cd on consecrate will still be 8 secs

and to get the gcd down to 1 sec takes over 500 spellhaste iirc

This is really good looking mace. Its big, its shiny. And its the best spriest weapon as well :P (lucky priests its a mace). So only few competors.

And thanks to that shouldn't take too long until it goes to offspec use as well (happy healers then).

There are 4 classes that can use this to their benefit, Priest, Paladin, Shaman, and Druids. Since Ret/Prot usually would rather have more effective weapons for tanking or melee damage, this would fall soley on Shaman, Priests, and Druids.

Although, Shaman and Druids would benefit the most from the spell haste, Priests could return more mana and life quicker with it, so it really boils down to what the Raid would benefit more from, faster DPS increasing the already insane DPS Shaman and Druids put out, or increasing the Utility of the priest, on top of some insane DPS as well.

But no tankadin spec weapon exists. There's no such thing as a mace or sword with spell-damage + tanking stats other than the Cyrstalforged sword, an ilevel 115 blue.

Thus, the only upgrades to the Hammer of Judgement (MH trash drop) are this or Tempest of Chaos. Well, or the S3 / S4 caster mace, but you can't get them prot specced, and I don't PvP anyway.

The fact there's no tanking weapon on the badge vendor is a huge disappointment.

Indeed and this is both a strange and disappointing oversight from Blizzard.

What Tankadins need is mace that visually matches their sets, has 300+ Holy Spell dmg, high melee damage, armor on it, a name that has "judgement" or "light" in it somewhere, is available for 150 Badges, and just to drive the point home says Classes: Paladin.

Until that day this is a very fine weapon for the job. Ofc is also superb for mace-weilding DPS casters.

No more discussion is really needed on this point.

they shud make an awsome tankadin weapon with maybe 150 armor 40 stamina and 250+ spell damage possibly some intellect but mainly spell damage and stamina that would take tankadins to the next level

with the way the new encounters are set up with fast paced needed threat this weapon will do the job, but in a lot of cases, you try and reduce your chance to miss your attacks that drastically reduce your threat. pretty great weapon for just the raw spell damage, but the Tempest of Chaos for a Tankadin is still the weapon of choice in my opinion.

I would like to add that now given the changes in 3.0, this mace is also going to be wanted by healers (myself included as a holy paladin). While the only better haste/healing mace drops off kil'jaeden (Hammer of Sanctification) the inverse will be true; you'll be competing with DPS for it. Also, this mace has more haste (only by 7). If you are in a guild like me that has been farming sunwell (minus KJ) for some time, there is a good chance most of your caster DPS already has this mace so it might be smarter to use your dkp to get this mace rather than praying to outbid someone else when the KJ mace finally drops. Just my opinion though.
