I read the prot paladin tanking gear guide article in other place and found out this ring is sort of must-get for heroic/karazhan tanking.

However back when i completed this quest I was holy/ret spec and thus chose spell damage/healing ring instead :(

I know I can't undo the quest and take it back, but is there any other ring recommended for tankadins? I already picked up https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=28407#M0z
for another finger slot.

This is a nice ring overall for a prot pally, but block RATING is much more usefull than block VALUE to a prot pally.

Rating = chance to block
Value = amount blocked.

Having a good block value is very nice for a warrior since he can use it for shield slam aggro generation.

Still, having more blocked per hit isn't too bad, but not as nice for pallys vs warriors. That being said, I am still going to get this for my tanking set until a replacement can be found.

I have to disagree with you there. For tankadins, BR will be coming from other sources. So you shouldn't really have touble blocking anything. In such a case, You will want to stack up on BV for 5mans since you will be AoE tanking everything in the place. High BV will also help you a ton in heroics cause the more BV you have the more mobs you can tank. Of course, do not have too much BV for normal 5mans. You'll almost never take damage LOL!

If you're farming heroics for the hundreds of badges you need post-2.3, you definitely want to maximize your Block Value.

This one of the best +Block Value items you can get, pre-Zul'Aman and 25-man raids.

732 damage off each hit is massive. Turn on the Auto-blocker and you take 992 off each block. 8 Holy Shield blocks and that's a whopping 7,932 damage mitigated -- nothing to laugh at.

Note that generally choosing block value itemization will lower your overall avoidance. Make sure you fill up your other item slots/sockets with enough to reach uncrittable/uncrushable.

Using this for quite a while now (with added +4 stats STA isnt that bad), after patch 3.0.2 it became godly upgrade for any warrior struggling with the balance between defence cap, SBV and stamina. Well Stamina isnt great.
Been searching a bit but couldnt find a straight upgrade to this one (with better numbers everywhere).
Some people tend to laugh at it, all in all its just a blue quest prize.

Atm at 729 SBV, def+resi capped. Still cant get over 16k HP (was above before the patch came).

Block value is ownage on this. :) Other rights have slighly higer stamina but lower defence. From the first boss from the first instance in Caverns of Time is compareable but I would prefer this.

2 warriors, one arms and one prot (me) and an enh shaman. We did the whole quest chain in a couple hours. Fast, fun, hilariously violent. These rings, at least the dps and tanking rings, are awesome, the quest has a lot of cash and it was a good time.
Starts at wildhammer.
