For the record, these do not drop off Greater Felfire Diemetradons, so don't waste your time on those.

I've noticed that they only drop the Felfire Spleen once their backs have gone on fire. You'll notice the green fire. If anyone can confirm this, that would be great. Happy Hunting

I'm disgusted to say it seems the back to the fire thing works.

It... doesn't even make sense, but after killing 20 with one drop, I switched to this idea and got plenty. WTF.

There is a modicum of truth to it, however I believe the trick lies in killing the dimetradons that have been wading in the green lava. Try it out.

Ok the fire on the back thing well yea its a spell but when ever they put it on you seem to get the iteam so I don't know try it for yourselfs and see

Probably just me but after I got 4 they started dropping more often for me.

The Droprate can be frustrating, but I think I have found a solution: Try killing the Level 68 mobs for the spleens. They seem to have a much higher droprate than the Level 67s.

The flaming back thing is pure superstition. I've killed several in a row, letting them pop Flaming Wound, and no drops. Level doesn't seem to make a difference either. The only real tip on this quest? Kill lots and enjoy the experience points.

Wasn't that bad of a drop rate for me, i got one every other kill.

I think part of the problem is that I don't know what a felfire spleen looks like. I didnt take dinosaur anatomy 101, thus the horrible horrible droprate. Maybe I'm just grabbing a bunch of parts and when i take it back hopefully he knows what the spleen looks like.

It's no where near 30% for me, more around 5%, and I am killing the regular ones.

I have hadden this quest for so long now, I don't bother do it, but I need money. I'm level70 rogue, so they're easily killed. (Started questing in nether instead of shadowmoon // scryer) but when I first got it, I killed about 10 with none dropping. Dumbed it for that day. I'm on my 3rd try, gotta finish it now, drop for me about 1 each 5th, so now it's good. I kill the regulars.

But they can have some nasty rates if you got a bad day. So good luck to you out there.

It's correct that they have a really low droprate so far killed 13 and gotten 1 quest item

So I started killing making a round about the acid looking lake, starting with the east side and the first 3 kills dropped one, went all the way around, no drops, went back to that place, 3 more drops in a row. Screwy much?

when they have low hp wait for them to hit you whith a glowing thing then kill them its worked for me i killed 8 of them and got 8 ov the Quest items.

Drop rate is nearly 50% for me around Eclipse Point (coords 47, 62).

Pull the Felfire Diemetradon's that are swimming in the green magma. Each one that I got out, had a spleen on them!

When I DPS them down they dropped about 1 in 10 kills. When I send my pet in (I'm a hunter), disable his special attacks and just auto-shoot until he does his fire thing and then DPS him down, they dropped 50% (1 in 2 kills) for me. Surprise!

The drop rate must be determined by where you are at. I was at the green lake next to Wildhammer Stronghold.

Can do the ghost/ashes quest at the same time.

I only had to kill 12 to get 8 spleen.
