These are nice for hauling lot of engineering trinkets, or goggles around, in addition to your normal tools and parts.

They can house any item that has an engineering requirement.

how exactly do these work? does the toolbox take up 1 of the 5 bag slots on the interface or does the toolbox go in 1 of the 16 slots of a bag?

The Respawn time for these bags are every 10 minutes, they will restock every 10 mins, if there is a bag there for 8 mins, and you buy it, it will take 2 mins for the next one to repop, its more of a reset item

This bag is unavailable to Starter Account (F2P) characters, along with Enchanter's Satchel, as their vendor price is 11g 20s even at Exalted status. All other beginner-level profession-specific bags (Mining Sack, Gem Pouch, Scribe's Satchel, Herb Pouch) are available, though.

Finally something big to hold all my engineering stuff in. Some people think these things are useless, but I don't think it is. I always had a 14-slot bag filled with engineering stuff anyway, this nifty box lets me have 6 more slots for new trinkets I plan on making in the future.

Unless you're holding a lot of engineering stuff, this is not worth it. Engineering trinkets, tools, components and powders seem to be all that goes in here. No smelted bars, no engineering gems, no leathers nor other engineering-related mats. Frankly this isn't worth 14GP given how limited its use is, and overall another disappointment in the engineering profession for the Burning Crusade.

I bought one of these since it seems half my bank is engineering supplies and quickly learned that according to this bag none of my metal bars, precious gems, not even my blacksmith hammer are engineering supplies. Pretty much only holds crafted engineering items. Disappointed!

when I got a mining bag and a toolbox for my engineer, I expected all my stone and metals would go in my mining bag, and all my engineer stuff would go in the toolbox sinee there are so many items to keep on hand as an engineer.
As it turns out, you can't put ANYTHING in this toolbox unless it was MADE by an engineer. So, unlike enchanting bags, you can not store your schematics in here. You can store your arc spanner and tools needed for engineering, but as stated above, nothing like metal bars, gems, cloth. So, things that are INGREDIENTS to an engineer pattern can not be stored.

Linen Cloth: NO
Handful of screws: YES
Engineering Schematics: NO
Blacksmithing Hammer: NO
Blasting powder: YES
Big Bronze Bomb: YES

Still necessary, but really not as useful as I would have hoped. I mean, at least schematics.....

It's not really meant to hold engineering supplies as much as it is all the bombs, dynamite, landmines, goggles, Target Dummies, Recombobulators, Bronze Morters, Jumper Cables, Rocket Boots, Parachute cloak, Harm Prevention Belt, Mind Control Helmet, Deep Dive Helmet, Mechanical Dragons, Battle Chickens, Death Ray, World Enlarger, etc... and of course the Spanner and Micro-Adjuster.

It even has room to spare for Seaforium Charges, so you'll have them on hand in those ultra-rare occurances of actually needing them.

I would definately say not to worry about getting one of these bags until about the point where you're specializing in either Goblin or Gnomish engineering. Otherwise, there will be alot of wasted space.

All of the other "ingredients" your talking about are best stored in a nice mageweave bag in the Bank, so you can hot-swap it with the bag you keep quest items in for forge runs.

Actually, having been an engineer for my entire WoW career, these things are just plain useless. Better off just farming mats for some nice netherweave or imbued netherweave bags than wasting anything on these.

These engineering toolboxes (Heavy and Fel Iron with 20 and 24 slots respectively) will not accept ammo made by an engineer, either. Ammunition can go in normal bags or the various sizes and kinds of ammo bags, but not in engineering bags, unfortunately.

If you are a serious engineer, the larger toolbox is excellent to put into a bank slot. Holds lots of engineering gear and products and has more space than a Primal Mooncloth Bag that sells for 500 gold (incredibly).

I have found it very useful for about thirty levels or so to swap stuff back and forth as needed between one of my take-along bags and the Fel Iron Toolbox I have in the bank. Now that I have hit the mid fifties (hunter, level 55 as of this writing), I find I want more and more of my hand-made trinkets and stuff with me. That stuff saves my bacon more and more often these days as I get myself into more and deeper trouble.

I can see the day coming when I'll want to have the toolbox, or a second one, with me on my adventures, especially when I am able to use injectors for health and mana.

As a miner, the 24-slot mining bag has been a boon to me. Great to equip if I'm on a concentrated mining run. Otherwise, it holds all ore, rocks and smelted metal in the bank for me, waiting for use in engineering or sale at AH.

These large bags are worth the investment if you understand their limitations and use them sensibly. 'Twould be nice if gems could go into the mining bag as well, but they don't. ;–(

With all the engineering stuff, minerals and cat food I end up toting around, I have about 2 slots left for potions and quest items. But 500 gold for four more slots? Not worth it if you ask me.

baxter doesn't sell these, all he sells are master cookbooks.
I replaced a 16 slot general bag in my inventory with one of these. A nice step up, especially since with all the engineering trinkets and bombs and such I carry, this freed up considerable space in my inventory. It even holds my goblin engineer membership card, and allows me to carry MORE bombs than I usually would, due to inventory constraints.
