This is a great tank ring that is very easy to get and will be overlooked by many players.

i am still wearing this ring, at level 70, decked out in purples from almost head to toe. (i have two blues... Shatari Vindicatoprs belt, and devilshark cape)

people in my guild laugh at me because it's Green, but look at the item level... 114.

it's ONE point short of being "blue" (or epic), and has some of the best tanking stats. period.

STA, DEF, a little bit of AGI (.2% dodge, .18% crit), and a little bit of hit (.38%).

yeah, it's not 12 defense, it's 12 def rating (5.07 actual def), but this ring is awesome. i won't say it's the best, but don't be ashamed to rock it until that somehting better comes along.

What makes this ring so fantastic, in addition to the Stamina (almost 3 Solid Star's worth) is the +Hit. +6 may not be much you might think, but considering rare gems give only +8, it basically allows a clued up tank to free up a gem slot for another Solid Star of Elune. Any tank worth their salt recognises the value of +Hit; even those that don't will know that you can't get enough Stamina, and this ring allows you to have both.

I used this ring far into SSC, until I got the +Hit ring off Tavarok in Heroic Mana Tombs. Anyone laughing at the fact its a green is basically displaying their ignorance.

This is a solid bear ring as well. Though it unfortunately lacks armor or agility, +34 stamina is nothing to sneeze at. +Hit affects the chance for Growl to land, while +12 defense rating is useful for bears that have trouble reaching the 415 feral defense cap. All around, a very nice, easily obtainable item.

this is an awesome pre-raid tanking ring, and you NEED to pick it up because you won't replace it for along time.

though this is an awesome ring, the ring u get from karazhan is better after you hit revered.

also the ring that shade drops is better in terms of avoidance. the only reason to keep it is if you need hit rating.

When I first looked at this ring I was "meh" because it has less AGI and less DEF than the Ring of the Stonebark I already had.

Then when I had plenty of DEF (522+) but my HP were not yet 10K+, I went back and looked at this ring. It has a lot of STA on it (duh, I know but I overlooked the non-avoidance stats earlier)! The only other rings (that don't cost 1000 gold on the AH...) that came close to this were some of the caster rings I have (to use with my spell damage/AoE grinding set) and they "only" have about 22-24 STA. So I'm wearing this ring and probably will hold onto it until I get a blue/purple with equivalent or greater STA.

This ring is really underrated, I still use it and my guild recently killed vashj. Don't overlook this awesome ring.

blizzard is fooling youre eyes, you see this as a green, but its a purple :)

very awesom ring, i got lol'ed at me because i used it.
then i sended them to find me a epic ring with better stat close to beginning of raiding.
gues what... they didnt found it.

I used this ring forever, until I got the 2.4 badge ring. It was my only non epic item when I replaced it, and had been for several months because aran never dropped shermanar

This ring is easily better than any pre-2.4 blue tanking ring though the new band of determination is a good replacement for it.

DO NOT DESTROY/SELL/DISENCHANT THIS RING.

Once your uncrushable, the stamina will come in handy. Until you get that new tanking ring from 2.4 badages.

They just don't make em like this anymore. This ring has been with me in all kinds of fun and special places. Bear boss in ZA for the +hit, entire kara and even gruuls. Now when I'm in northrend it sits firmly in an honorary place inside my bank along with the heroism set which I do not have the heart to destroy.

It does lack armor but it makes up with this drawback by having +hit, +def and a healthy amount of stamina as well. You won't find a better ring outside raiding afaik.

this ring has solid stamina, defense and even has +hit. sounds like a gem in the rough to me

This is one of the better pre-karazhan tanking rings. Don't be fooled by its 'green' rating.

I wouldn't replace this until the honored level of the Karazhan ring. Personally I use this over the Black Morass reward ring without any stamina on it.

How is this thing green? How is this a reward from some easy-ass quest in Netherstorm? Someone at Blizzard was hungover that day and made a mistake. Shh! Don't tell them. Don't tell them how I got the blue Black Morass tanking ring and pissed on it. I don't think I'll be taking this one off for a while.

yeah this ring should be considered at least rare stats wise its awesome wat erks me is i chose the shoulders because i was dps at the time and now that im prot and lvl 70 id love 2 be able 2 get this ring

Top quality Ring.

2 things make it so awesome,

34 Stamina is more than a lot of blue rings.
6 Hit - Very few items available to Tanks that give hit rating at this level of item. Notice how the recent SSO items have hit on them? this ring was there first.
