So, how does this work? You need more Red gems than Yellow gems.

Say I have 3 yellow and 3 red gem sockets and still want the socket bonuses, do I put an orange gem in one of the yellow sockets, since an orange gem counts as a red and yellow gem, or does the orange gem count as neither red nor yellow?

'Snare' effects deal with abilities like Hamstring and Wing Clip, even abilities like a mage's Ice Armor (the chill effect). 'Rooting' effects like Frost Nova and Entangling Roots are also able to be resisted.

For PvP and especially Arena matches I personally feel this is a must have for most melee classes. Couple this with the Enchant: Surefooted https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=22545 and you will have an inherant 10% resist on snare/root effects. Not to mention the +12 critical and +10 hit rating!

Best all-round Meta Gem for PvPing. (IMO)

This item is currently bugged as of 3/5/07.

This item does not give any +crit even though it is lit up and more red than yellow gems total.

Edit: According to my friend, GMs have said it simply does not show up in the stat sheet but it's there. but we all know how clueless GMs can be sometimes, so.. I dont know.

Now working as intended? Can someone who has one of these verify that this actually got fixed at some point? It sure doesn't sound like it in that forum thread. Someone was still demanding a fix a couple days ago and pointed out it wasn't in the 2.1 notes.

It was bugged before, and the devs said it would be fixed in the next content patch (2.1) but still I can't see anything in the patchnotes...

I would really like to know if this stacks with Surefooted enchant and/or talents that increase snare resist. (Fleet Footed for Rogues, Surefooted for Hunters, etc.)

I can only assume it does, but does anyone here know for sure?
Because if so, that would be very nice. +10% from Fleet Footed, +5% from this gem, and +5% from the enchant would add up to 20% snare resist which seems very significant. Or would it be multiplied instead if it stacks? If so, what would the order of priority be? Talent>gem>enchant?

Anyone know if this gem is gonna get some kind of nerf? I noticed that surefooted enchant is gonna give crit instead of the snare and root resist, and the general elimination of resist talents/effects overall.

Still appears to be broken as of 03-06-2007... as has been mentioned before please ask a GM before you attempt to socket this or prepare to be completely screwed. :/ Waiting on a GM response right now, I'll update with any info I can get.

This gem gives me the 12 crit rating (0.54%) as it says, when I have more reds then yellows; is the 5% snare resist bugged? I use it with surefooted (5% snare/root resist and +10 hit rating) enchant on my boots and 10% snare resist talent, and I seem to resist my fare share of snares and roots.

A GM confirmed that there is an issue currently with this meta gem as of 1-30-07.
It does not add either of it's bonus' even when the conditions are met.

If you bought this gem, I suggest you hold off on setting it until the issue is resolved, as you may come across a better helm to put it in durring that timeframe.

I'll keep you posted.

This plus the Surefooted enchant https://www.wowhead.com/cata/sp=27954 plus the surefooted talents from survival tree = 25% snare/root resisting rate.

As a PvP Hunter, I would take this over the other meta gem (24AP+minor run speed)

If you have any orange gems in red sockets (which fulfill the requirements of the red socket) they also count as yellow.

Eg: 5x orange (red and yellow) and 2 x Green (blue and yellow) gems = total of 7 Yellow, 5 Red and 2 Blue.

!1 Gem can fulfil multiple requirements!

Your reds must be purple (red and blue) or plain red to not effect the requirements of this meta gem.

I just love the stats on this gem, this would be my choice meta gem. Unfortunately the requirements for this gem are unrealistic for a hunter. Hunters just need a lot more crit than they're given and the only way to make it up is with yellow gems.

Right now I'm wearing all of these gems:

3 yellow
4 green
2 red

But those greens count as blue and yellow, so I really have this:

7 yellow
4 blue
2 red

There's just no way Ii can ever get more red than yellow gems without losing way way too much crit.

Based on socketed gear currently avaliable this gem matches the rogues gear perfectly. All they have is more red than yellow gems

It's probably better to actually GET orange gems if you have a lot of yellow-slot gear since it'll give you the benefits of a yellow slot without the drawback of not being able to use this gem.

I have taken off all my other armour taken this off then put it back on and my crit chance number always remains the same is there something else we are supposed to be doing here?

I mean i asked a GM and got no decent answer... players must work this out on there own

as i stated i took all my armour off apart from this piece which contains 1 red and one meta which fullfills the requirements.

however no increase in crit.

I put all my gear back on and i have 5 reds and 2 yellows and still no increase in crit...

So the requirements are meet it is just not working any suggestions?

just got done talking to a gm. same ole thing.....were aware of the issue. look for future patch notes blah blah blah. waste of money for the gem and also wasted 24k honor on a helm i cant even use cuz without the diamond the old one is better. This sucks.

Just checked after last post. It is not registering. look at the date of my last post and thats when i talked to a gm and he said it was still bugged. that was 1.5 days ago. There has been no new patch or download since then! I just tried the gem 2 mins ago and it does NOT work. Still waiting. dont waste your money on this gem yet.

The Snare/Root resist doesn't work either. Have tested it with a mage who had 3.5% hit rating at that moment. I resisted 1 of about 50 frost nova's from both his pet and himself, and I resisted 0 frostbite procs hitting him. And I doubt the crit rating works, they just say it 'does work but doesn't show in your charsheet' to make you shut up. Time to get a new gem.

I had problems with this stone as well...GM said, he won't assist in Gameplay....What was important for me...you don't have to use yellow stones in yellow sockets, but you will lose the socket bonus, I used a blue in one of my yellow sockets and it worked fine...the meta stone will no longer be gray

Hmmm... let me get this stright.

An Alchemist will end up paying 80g to make one skyfire... and it won't sell for more than 70g, only being able to make another in the next day.

A jewelcrafter can buy the diamond, turn into a meta gem, sell it for 150g+, and then just take another and do it as much as he pleases.

Is it me or there's something wrong here? This kind of economy is insane! Why do alchemists even put it to sell?

No, it's not that simple. Same think happens with primal might on my server. At the begining was nice. About 130-150g per primal and about 80-100g for the mats assuming that u are not farming them.
But now primals are about 80-90g and mats are the same price. So, give me now a good reason to make the transmute and waste my time and not just sell the mats. The problem is not the stupid alchemists or jc or whatever. The problem is that some ppl are ruining the economy of the server for different reasons. I don't know if they are some 9 yo kids , some noobs or chineese farmers. And i can't do nothing about it.

In my point of view i prefer crit for pvp and AP for raid, so for warriors, hunters, rogues etc. that pvp i'd say blizz made it so pvp and crit specd players are near impossible to reach this gem (crit specd=yellow gems) as it requires one that uses alot of AP (red slots) for it to work. Im sure it'll work for raids quite well :/

ok with my PvP gear and T4 mixed i have
3 red sockets
3 yellow
1 meta

i used 3x str and ap gems for the red sockets and 2 +8crit rating yellow and a orange gem (+str and crit) with this set up i have 4 red and 3 yellow
this is a good way to make up for equal sockets
1 happy axe spec MS warrior (42% crit unbuffed XD)

It's NOT working for me when i have 4 red gems and 3 yellow gems. i need to switch one of the yellow gems with a red gem to get it working thus making my gems look like 5 red 2 yellow. Bad thing is that it breaks one of my socket bonuses :<

Anyone else having this problem or does it really need 2+ more red gems than yellow or something like that?

Enigmatic Skyfire Diamond DOES stack with surefooted enchant.

6% resist rate with boot enchant only (3/50 resisted)
12% resist rate with enchant + meta gem (6/50 resisted)

Tested in a duel against a druid who did nothing but cast root on me on December 13, 2007. There has been confusion about whether the Enigmatic Skyfire Gem stacks with the Surefooted boot enchant. Some have tested it does not work, but according to http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=75344205&sid;=1 there was a point when the Enigmatic Skyfire Diamond did NOT work at all, giving neither the additional crit rating or snare resist. I tested it today and in my tests I found that they do stack.

NOTE: Numbers may be different for you, and my count was not perfect, so just take these as approximations.

I am using this gem with fleet-footed talent and it's noticable already, in PvP & PvE. It is total fun to sneak to a fight -with AOEs popping everywhere- and make it through. Or when an opponent really tries to stop you and yet you keep coming.

Even Khara's Shade of Aran gave me bug-eyes when I avoided his Magnetic Pull twice in a row. Give this gem a chance! One part of a 20% avoidance!

what if I have no red or yellow gems? I plan on twinking a 59 rogue, and his only socketable item will be his eng. helm. For socket bonus it requires a blue gem. Will I be able to use this gem with a blue gem in socket? Or would I have to have atleast one red gem for this gem to socket?

this is actually a pretty cool gem for mutilate rogues. we get the "fleet footed" talent from the assassination tree which adds 10% chance to resist movement impairing effects. That, added with this meta gem and surefooted boot enchant and u should be pushing 20% root resist.

ok, i tried this on my 62 rogue with only 1 socket spot for the red, it worked, the thing went from grey to bold as soon as i equipped it on. Deathblow X11 Goggles
