These things have a HORRIBLE drop rate. I've killed about 10 spre bats (not young or greater ones) and have yet to get one eye.

dont know if im lucky but i got a 100% drop rate on those. The tentacles on the other hand...

Spore bats with eyes are extremely hard to find, even more so than the regular spore bats they actually drop off.

Edit, changed like stated above, now all spore bat types drop eyes. but still... only 20% or so of spore bats have eyes.

drop rate SUCKS. took about 10-12 kills per eye. Plus they're interspersed with lots of aggressive mobs. But the energizing spores are fantastic.

Drop rate is so low. But, the upside is that you accumulate a nice pile of Fertile Spores.

Im in the 52, 58 area of the Zangarmarsh and have noticed an increase in the drop rate.

i got all 4 tentacles off my first 4 strider kills, the eyes on the other hand, ive killed around 30 mobs and i have 2 eyes, worse.droprate.ever.

How dumb is that Greater Spore Bat's don't drop this. Doesn't seem to make any sense to me.

i prolly spent maybe 10 min on the whole quest from pick up to turn in.

the spore bats are mostly found between whatever that alliance town is and the lagoon

They also drop of Sporewing. You can get at least 1 that way, and if you're really unlucky, just farm him 4 times.

I'm a mage so all my damage comes from yellow, and I had to kill around 20 of them to get 4 eyes. Tried the white damage method using my wand and it just slowed me down a lot.

Don't believe the hype about doing white damage. It's just a low drop rate guys.

i did this quest on 3/18/07. i killed 6 of the spore bats and got 4 eyes. so either the drop rate changed or im really lucky :D

Same thing happened to me i killed over 40 mobs, and got no drop, then i got them on low health and did a lot of damage to them, im i druid so i used final attacks on cat form, and then they all dropped.

Also save caparaces 1.5g stack i think, and strange spores, for cooking if u do, (works a lot on hunters pet) the other spores are for honor.

Just finished the quest and had to kill 7 to get the 4 eyes. The percentages must have changed also because 3 eyes came from killing 5 62lvl sporebats. Make sure you're killing sporebats. No eyes drop from the young or greater sporebats.

this was 1 of the worst quests i ever did in outland the bats were hard to find and the drop rate sucked

Found them at 62, 57 like previous poster mentioned (thanks by the way.) Killed four, got four eyes. Drop rate isn't bad, I guess.

when i first leveled to 70 this quest was completely awful and i dreaded doing it again. the drop rate is excellent just south of Telredor as mentioned at 62,57

At first I tried killing spore bats, I may have killed about 15-20, "NO DROPS". Then i just started killing the fen striders near by and had drops from every kill. After i was done collecting fen strider tentacles, i went back to the spore bats, and per each kill there was a spore bat eye dropped. So maybe if you try killing the fen striders first and collect their tentacles, then when you are done with that, move on to the spore bats. If you run out things to kill, go look for the stingers near by to collect Diaphanous wings that drop after you kill then (drop rate not so good). Below I will give the quest name and coords.

Gathering The Reagents - 63, 58 - There you will find the Fen Striders and Spore Bats. Remember to try out killing the Fen Striders first if you're having trouble getting drops from Spore Bats.

if you run out of things to kill for "Gathering The Reagents" quest, then do the "Diaphanous Wings" quest which is very near by, coordinates are:

Scroll up...do you see any of those mobs listed as dropping them? No. Stop making one of the worst quests in Zangarmarsh even more of pain. Dumbass!

I had almost a 100% droprate. Killed 5 and got the 4 eyes. Make sure you kill only the SPORE BATS. not YOUNG SPORE BAT or GREATER SPORE BAT. only the regular ones will drop any eyes. so you will get stuck killing 70 bats and have nothing drop like a previous poster stated. For those of you without the coords mods. I found most of mine in a greater concentration in the area between the Alliance field scout flag (right to the west of Telredor) and the Twin Spire Ruins. There were at least 3-4 on each of the little "islands" and most of the time just them so you didn't have to worry about marshfangs. Easy quest if you know where to go and what to kill.
