Note that the "bug" described on Thottbot still exists: You can stand out of LOS from a same-faction NPC and blast this candle at them without using a charge and with no cooldown.

You can definitely grab some attention in town with this thing. :)

I went back to the guy who sells this a second time, with 5 more ancestor coins, and he sold me a second Elune's Candle for 10 silver, letting me spend the ancestor coins on something else!

I used this on someone from the opposite faction, and to my surprise my Horn of Argent Fury hit him for ~1k damage. The guards did not attack me for it, though, as shooting the fireworks doesn't count as a hostile action. I'd imagine this works with other 'chance on hit' effects as well.

EDIT: I did some research. The Horn of Argent Fury is rather unique in the way it works, and I have yet to find something that works similarly. You won't be able to proc mongoose using this, for example... I did manage to kill a lvl 20 druid.

lunar festival is a reference to the chinese beliefs of Lunar New year when the chinese new year starts off at late jan, early feb.

the amount of charges being 88 is based on the fact that during the chinese festive period, the number 8 is being regarded as very lucky and prosperous.

An interesting effect I discovered today; you can shoot these at Scourge Haunts (summoned by the Haunted Memento which was only dropped during the Scourge Invasion event). While the Haunts are normally untargettable; if you don't have another target selected, you can use Elune's Candle, mouse over the Haunt, and then shoot a firework at it.

1) Pop MOLL-E (There's no mailbox in Moonglade)
2) Buy Elune's Candle (unique)
3) Mail Elune's Candle to (bank) alt
4) Repeat Step 2 & 3
5) Wait some time after Lunar Festival is over ...
6) PROFIT !

i do like how it appears as a weapon in my client (minus the slot it fits to) vs what wowhead shows

add to that, that when i got my mage restored (hence, no gear) i had to repair this damn thing before using it o.o

If you're wondering at why there's 88 charges, it's a nod towards Chinese culture (my culture!) where "88" is considered a lucky number since it's a homophone with "Overwhelming Cash".

You can use This as a Weapon against the Minions of Omen. Omen and his thugs are imun against all "slow" or concosif (i�m not english) egffects. But with this Thing you can "freez" Minions of Omen, so the can�t move for abeout 5 sec.
I used it against Omen too, and i think it sometiomes Break his Moonfire Cast, but on this point i�m not sure.

it is a non repeatable quest, one time only.

The item is unique, but not soulbound. So once you get the first one, mail it off to an alt. Then you can buy a second one from the same guy for something like 40 silver.

i payed 1g for one of these and i fired it at my pet...made a cool firework SFX...fired it at other targets and didnt do anything...why!

It only works on NPCs, but it's currently bugged so that if you are out of line of sight (having your back turned towards the target doesn't count) it won't activate the cooldown or use a charge, but still fire.
This means that by adding it to a hotkey you can shoot it as fast as you can hit the key. For example you can target the NPC in the AH, go outside the building, and shoot at them. For the people inside the AH it'll look like the auctioneer is blowing up in a flurry of fireworks.
Very cool toy.

My sweet ninja troll shaman got all the festival coins, i even got the ones from ally areas, IF and SW for in stance. I had so many and the festival was ending so i got 1 of these a black suit and a ton of those dumplings and fireworks. I shoudl have bought another beacue im preety sure its not BoP or BoE its just an item, still got all charges may AH if i can but im probably wrong.

Other comments and Other Wowhead Guides claim the Elune's Candle can be used to pull mobs, which would be helpful for Paladin tanks. This is not true as far as I can tell. The Elune's Candle does not pull mobs, it does not create Agro.
