I myself did some grinding on my 50 warlock in the southern parts for rep until I could move up to the north and I have to say that the drop rate seems a lot higher, I took my current rep and did some math but with about 500 kills I got a drop rate of 20~23% off the guys to the south.

This is a good idea for anyone after the +15 agi and +25 agility enchants only available through this faction.

On a side note if you want to get exalted easily then grind until revered then you need 280 turn ins @75 rep each to go from 0/21000 revered to exalted (which is a good idea as the mobs no longer give rep when your revered)

You cannot get the feathers unless you've completed Timbermaw Ally (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/quest=8460).
Talk to Grazle ( https://www.wowhead.com/cata/npc=11554) for it (51,85).

After completing that quest he will give you a quest to talk to his colleague at the north of Felwood.

These are now double the rep. 150 per 5 and no longer 75
For me I wanted exhaulted so i simply grinded till i was revered
turned in what i had (about 12500 rep in feathers)

then came back at level 62 to finish off the feathers
there was no rep or experiance. but the feathers accumulated twice as fast (elite kill speed
with uber outland gear)

Just wanted to add my $.02 as a druid grinding this out. At level 50+ hanging up north is certainly speedier. Additionally, there's a nice "outer ring" you can walk on with several furbolgs individually. Some notes: the den watchers will call help so make sure to pull them away from others, the avengers are fine, unless they see one of their friends get dropped at which point they enrage (so kill them first) and the shaman are pretty easy kills overall.

Ultimately, it seems the feathers are a great way to grab the faction and the kills don't hurt. Happy hunting!

At 70 the rep gained from just killing the mobs is more or less useless, though in interest of minimizing grind time, factor it in to your calculations. Going from revered to exalted you will get no rep from kills, and thus it's the only constant in the grind (apart from the final 999 rep points) and requires 350 headdresses.

Checking the drop rate, these have a 10% higher chance of dropping than the Winterspring beads, and the mobs are lower level, so these are definitely the best items to grind for pure rep.

It takes 1100 headdresses to go from Honored to Exalted (1100/5 * 150rep = 33,000 rep). It takes 3,000 kills to get through friendly at level 70 (or at any point after the mobs are grey to you), and that should net you the 1100 beads you need. Do not farm these in the south, the drop rate is much lower (about half).

(OK, it takes a little less than 3,000 kills to get through friendly since the boss is worth 6 rep instead of 2, but really, it hardly matters.)

The best strategy is as soon as you are friendly, do all the quests for rep. That should get you about 1/3 of the way through. Then just farm the headdresses until you have enough to jump to exalted. Just calculate 30 rep each and you can nail it exactly. Don't turn in early as the mobs stop being worth rep at some point (half way through revered?) and you might as well squeak out as much from slaughtering mobs as you can.

Oh, and the drop rate is exactly 33% for the Den Watchers/Shaman and 37% for the Avengers on my toon, based on over 2000 total kills so far. The drop rate is a paltry 24% on the boss, but he is worth more rep.

As of 3.0 I can confirm that when they are grey all rep is doubled, and I would assume for when they are green too. I was getting 4 rep per mob, and 12 per boss. I did 1 hand in of feathers to test and that is also doubled to 300. So the rep farming time has been greatly reduced.

I was throughly pleased with the fact that if you're unfriendly with them and turn in 5 of these, you get 300 rep. That brought joy to me.

And also, does it matter which of the 2 guys you turn it in to?

Friendly advice. Don't turn in your beads or feathers until you reach revered. I was getting 4 rep points per kill, until I reached revered. So save your beads and feathers. I'm getting 300 rep for 5 beads or feathers. It takes 21000 pts to get to exhalted from revered, that's 350 feathers/beads. 350 kills x 4 pts each is 1400. Which is 20 less beads/feathers that you need to collect! Hoping someone can learn from my mistake.

TURN-INS GIVE 300 REPUTATION NOW. YOU ONLY NEED 350 FEATHERS OR BEADS to get through revered.
Ignore any guides below saying that you need more. Those guides are old.
Mobs only give reputation through Honored, so save your feathers/beads until you get 350 total, at which point you can start turning in the excess.

With the changes in 3.0.8, as the poster above said it takes 350 feathers to get exalted from revered.

Now we talk strategy.

If you make 20 rep (22 for humans) per kill, excluding the Chieftain, and the drop rate on feathers is 40% (using the northern farming area in felwood, as it's better), then it'll take 875 kills (800 for human) to gather enough for revered -> exalted. You do not get rep from kills after honored. This 875 kills will get you approximately 17,500 rep before turn-ins (+100 more for Humans' 800 kills). My advice: Do not turn in any feathers until you are revered. By the time you've gathered enough feathers for the revered -> exalted turn-in, you will already be revered without turning in anything.

Going over the numbers again:

Non-Human: 350
Human: 320 (rounded up)

Kills needed to gather needed feathers for Revered -> Exalted:

Got Exalted today, the grind luckily didn't took me that long. Spend 3-4 hours grinding 350 feathers. Sometimes some annoying lvl 55ish can by spitting on me for killing the whole camp. Chief gives reputation past revered so I have been killing him everytime he spawned. This morning got exalted with Cenarion Hold, and now Timbermaw Hold <3 2 new titles

im just to finicsh this loooong grinding im actyally 9940/12000 honored with only 2 quests (1500 rep)....
A little advise on this i can tell everyone...u should grind to the start of honored in the south camp...ive checked and in 2 hour excactly i did unfriendly and friendly (lvl 55 BE hunter with a gorilla) because u kill the mobs faster in a litlle circuit and that its counting that sometimes one or 2 persons were in the same camp. I only gather like 80 feathers down there but i realized that i get more rep per circuit.
When u hit honored move to the camp north there are 2 circuits the little camps and the hills i was forced to do the hills due a nice pally 80 that did not kill me but 2 times that i was on the camps killed every mob i was hitting so i just did the hils until he was done...
i gather a total of 83 feathers in just 1 hour of grindind the mobs in the north...
Here i put my numbers in 2 days of grinding:
-First day:
5:34=67.8%-0 fethers in the bag
5:42=81.0%-4 feathers
7:03=20.2% -65 feathers
(i grind like 30 mins in the camp on the north but i dont have the exact numbers so i dont include here)
All this in the south camp
The second day:
7:08=20.2%=0 feathers in the bag
7:57=36.2%-38 feathers
9:02=63.0%-91 feathers
10:1=82.8%-163 feathers
At the moment i have 290 feathers

I farmed about 3/4 of the way through Revered then logged off. When I logged back on to finish up there were 3 Horde also farming. I'm Horde too so I couldn't do much as far as shoo-ing them off.

I decided to go down to the Southern camp and see how bad the drop rate really was. It's not bad at all. I'm not sure if they increased the drop rate of the feathers, but I haven't noticed a decrease in drops at all. Now I'm not bothered by anyone and I'm almost done grinding to Exalted!

Just hit exalted today, not too terrible of a grind. I reccomend spanning out your farming of headdresses over several days, just a few hours a day. It's not worth mentioning reputation up to revered, which is easy due to the grinding. Save your headdresses, I found that doing circles around the northern furlbog camp works best. Expect anywhere from 12-15 pieces per round. I'd say I cleared this round about 25 times to acquire all the headdresses needed for the revered phase. This is only because I didn't save them as I was getting reputation for just killing mobs. Also worthy to note that the named mob in the northeast corner of the camp still rewards sixty reputation at revered, which throughout all those rounds will save you quite a few pieces in the end. Not too bad of a grind, but will make you insane if you sit down and do it all at once. Good Luck!

I started my grind last night for The Diplomat, from Honored. In no time, while watching TV, I hit Revered by running between Timbermaw Post (Winterspring) and Felpaw Village (Felwood), loaded with total of 82 Spirit Beads & Headdress Feathers, wich leaves me 268 Beads / Feathers to farm today.

Pro tip: As a Shadow Priest, I noticed that it's better do downrank my Sw:P to rank 9 - it does enough damage to kill a Paw, but not too fast so I can just DoT 10 of them so they run together to me and loot the whole pile once.

I just completed all these quests, been farming for 4h , just to notice that yeah, you get 2000 rep per 5 feathers now, you have to complete a few quests around the place, got me to 6k at revered, and you get this repeatable quest.

Also, you now gain rep for killing them even at Revered/exalted.

I have completed all the prequests to the point where the repeatable turn-in quests are available... yet no feathers seem to be dropping. I checked and there doesn't seem to be any quests left to do... the beads are dropping fine... am I doing something wrong?

Edit: I just gave up and turned to farming Spirit Beads. With 5 beads giving 2000 reputation, it only took around one hour to obtain what I needed. Hopefully this gets looked at in the future though.

Second Edit: I did get a reply from a GM today who confirmed it was a loot issue and has moved it up to the bug department. Hopefully a hotfix will be sent soon :).

The drop rate on the feathers are extremely erratic. I farmed for an hour with my Death Knight and got nothing. Then I came back an hour later with my Rogue and a Hunter friend, and they were dropping like crazy. That is, until about 20 minutes in (we obtained 11 feathers each), when they just stopped dropping again until another 10 minutes passed (timed using the hour-long Spirit of Sharing buff from Pilgrim's Bounty).

Okay the Rep. turn in for this one had me searching for a little while. Once you have your feather or before hand if your horde (Or at least for me) I had to go to Emerald Sanctuary. There I found a NPC named Grazel . This NPC has a quest that to talk to some totem fairy close. Do the totems two quest then return to Grazel and you can do the turn in quest that requires the Deadwood Headdress feather for you 2,000 Rep. per turn in. Really easy.

I have done every single Timbermaw quest in Felwood, have the ability to turn these in, have collected a lot of the Winterspring spirit beads, but have never had a single one of these headdresses drop.

I'm convinced they are bugged, do not exist, or simply flee in terror upon my arrival. What's the deal? Am I just extremely unlucky?

As of Cata these arnt dropping. Put a ticket in about it and got a response that it was a known issue. Try the beads quest instead.

It seems that some of the quests concerning the Timbermaw Hold faction have been reset. I had definately done all of these before but when I went to talk to Nafien, I could not do the additional hand-ins.

Instead, I had to kill 15 Deadwood mobs, and I was not able to hand in additional feathers until after also completing Disarming Bears.

And, killing Deadwood mobs in the area still awarded rep even at Revered.

Bugged for me...Horde, did all quests, am revered through quests and grinding mobs and spirit beads..have killed hundreds of the darn things (yes, the deadwood ones on the west side of timbermaw), and nope...nary a feather has dropped for me..as with others, i gave up and stuck to the beads. I just wanted my 3 LW patterns from them, but may as well finish off to exalted I suppose since i'm already here. I did come across the bug where when I hit revered and talked to the TM vender to pick up my last LW pattern, though it showed available I could not buy it. I read comments about that though and was prepared..I stood on top of the vendor, then dragged the pattern from the vendor box into my pack, and that worked...so if you haven't tried to buy your patterns of your choice yet...be prepared that the revered pattern may be 'sticky' to get..just drag and drop it to buy it.K

Just did this today on my rogue, 4-1-11, Timbermaw rep was at unfriendly, flew up to Felwood, tossed on my poisons and went to work.

Did quests then went to get feathers, found the drop rate was not so great tried the beads, found those to have a better drop rate.

hit exalted as my poisons expired 1 hour later.

I went and killed Deadwood mobs until friendly. Then i did the quest to drop the feathers.
Killed more Deadwood mobs until I reached Revered, the mobs give rep past Revered now.
I ended up with 210 feathers. I then went and did all the rest of the quests and finshed
with ~300 rep until exalted.

I now recommend killing mobs until you get about 150 feathers (I'll let someone else do the
math). Then go do the quests, and see where you end up. Took me about 2hrs (watching TV and chatting).

I'm sure someone can do it faster, but it won't take you very long either way.

I had a problem before (commented here w/patch 4.0.6) with them not ever dropping..and as recent posters say..it's been fixed and they are now dropping like crazy for another toon I'm working on (wanted the timbermaw belt pat). I went from friendly to exalted in under an hour through the rep gains of slaughtering the deadwood camp, and turning in the feathers they were dropping at roughly a 75% drop rate by my Looter addon log. Definitely faster than grinding the beads IMO, as deadwood mobs are in a much smaller area-making very quick circuits of their camp and very fast respawn time.

I don't know if it matters or if I was just unlucky, but I grinded from unfriendly to friendly without seeing a single feather. Not until I turned in the initial quest to killl the deadwood mobs. After turning in, I got one feather for about every 2 or 3 kills.

I got like 50 feathers in inventory but now I cant cash in rep for them, they only offer me new quest where I kill special number of 3 types !

Does this have anything to do with how much rep I got, or is there a cycle where these two quests take change each week for more quest-variety ?

I was in Felwood with a friend today, and I was able to collect all the feathers while he couldn't. When he looted he even left feathers for me, because he couldn't see or loot them.
But he did already loot them another day. Anyone understand this?

The guy by the tunnel now gives a quest to kill near the tunnel.

Grazzle is by a tree just south of Emerald Santcuary and gives this quest and they can be gotten off the mobs in Deadwood Village for sure. I cannot confirm if they drop off of the ones in Felpaw Village, but I don't think they will.

I went to work on faction for the first time last night. I had the kill quest and was in a full group. Every one but me was getting these drops. Then it dawned on me, I ran back to the quest giver, turned in the completed kill quest and these started dropping.

It seems you need to complete the first kill quest in order to start these dropping. The reason some people saw them stop dropping is because they appearantly reset the quest to incomplete for everyone with the 1.9.1 patch and it needs to be done again. That's my understanding, hope that helps.

They didn't start dropping for me until I finished and turned in the quest for the furbolg along the road in the southern part of Felwood. After that, the drop rate on the feathers was at least 10%, and probably closer to ^^kokloz's 20%.

Everytime I kill a deadwood, my reputation with the Timbermaw goes down. I didn't realize it until I had collected about 4 feathers. Then I looked at my reputation and saw that it had gone from moderately hostile to almost hated. What do I do?

When I started gathering reputation at Timbermaw Hold I thought it wouldn't take that long. I heard from a friend of mine that you don't gain reputation by killing beast if your revered, and he's right too. So just to remember:

5 feathers = 50 rep
1 feather = 10 rep
21000 : 10 = 2100 feathers for getting exhalted
(humans got 10% more so 1890 feathers)
drop rate is like 17% or 1/6
2100 x 6 = 12600 kills

... the feathers from day 1. You don't turn them in untill after you get to revered. All the rep you gain from hated up to revered should come from killing.

You will gather a rather huge pile of feathers on your way to revered and you will be very very happy once you turn it in.

5 feathers = 75 rep
1 feather = 15 rep

21000/15 = 1400 feathers

I don't get it. every time I kill a Deadwood my rep drops wih timbermaw. But you have to collect these to gain rep but lose it when you kill them. What's the deal?

i just started to get my rep up (5 days ago)and that takes long time. im now revered whit timbermaw hold and need to get lots of feathers now.

i get 5xdeadwood headdress feather=82 rep point
1xdeadwood headdress feather=16 rep point

21000=about 1280 feathers
that takes about 15 hour (that time i get all feathers, 65lvl warlock)

if you dont need anything revards, dont do this! =)
but if you want to be ex<lted whit timbermaw hold, i need to say good luck and remember sleep sometimes =)

i'm having trouble with this one, i'm a level 54 Druid, patch 1.12.1 and Grazle is situated right outside the northern cave in Felwood, next to Nafien, who keeps attacking me. Although Nafien is attacking i managed to do the timbermaw ally quests, i've collected many feathers but i can't give them to grazle, i keep on clicking continue but nothing happens. is this a bug or something?

I'm a lvl 62 LW. Im after a LW recipe that requires honored with TH and soon I will be after another which requires revered. These guys are either grey or green to me. The grey ones give 1 rep, the green 5. The Chieftain Bloodm... gives 15 rep. Every 5 feathers I get give me 75 rep. Because I made the mistake of fighting my way though the tunnel, I became Hostile, after 2 days of farming these feather and killing for rep, I became neutral. I was fine than. Than I wanted a recipe which required friendly, so farmed for 3 hours to get that. Now I want another and need 6000 rep. 100 feathers later and rep from killing and I'm over half way. I just picked up a item to start a quest. Handed it in and got 350 rep. I now need under 200 feathers to get to 6000 rep to became honored. It takes ages but even at lvl 62, I've goten about 6 bars done. It's time consuming but I'm determined to get these recepies.

save all your feathers until you reach Revered, then hand in all your 1400 feathers,

you need 5 stacks of 250 feathers and 1 stack of 150 feathers

250 x 5 = 1250 feathers

1250 + 150 = 1400 feathers.

Completing the quest Deadwood of the North allows you to loot these.

Also the honor per kill was changed for patch 2.2. Currently it's +10 rep for normal Furblog kill and +30 for named Furblogs (Chieftan type, etc) if the mob is not grey. Otherwise it's +2 for all mobs.

Definitly save the feathers, if you plan on getting exalted for the Defender of the Timbermaw trinket.

Humans for the win! 55 rep per turn in(trust me, it helps a lot).
I did raid groups until I was half way through neutral(turned in all my feathers too). Then I realized my rep is going to stop sometime, so I went solo for most of it. There were a couple of times where I would group with a guildie, and most of the feathers would go to me, but that was between the last strech of Honored to Revered. At Revered I had about 800 feathers to turn in, and was close to the half way mark. I figure I still have loads of grinding to do, with maybe another 1000 or so feathers to turn in for exalted. I'm setting a goal of atleast 50 feathers a day, which isn't too bad, and set at a decent pace. I can't wait to get the trinket!

Unlike most items, you can have 250 features in each stack which makes it very space efficient.

I did the turn in quest as a level 70 rogue. I've not got a clue how many of these furbolgs I've killed, but in the time from grinding from unfriendly = revered I've got the following:

4 x Aquamarine
3 x Journeyman's Backpack
4 x Pattern: Living Leggings (leatherworking)
1 x Libram of Resilience
1 x Glowing Brightwood Staff! (epic)

Plus, countless greens and grey items that have made me about 200g

Altogether, and for the recepes unlocked, not a bad 24 hours grinding!

It should be noted that, one still receives the same amount of rep (5 per kill) while in a raid. Much much faster when you have a raid group of any size doing the northern area, as well, these still drop. You'll be doing it for the kill rep, though, which will be faster than trying to collect feathers, as:

1 kill = 5 rep
5 feathers (if dropped) = 50 rep
Raid group = all dead quick x_x !

If you are not getting feather, it means the two NPC's have a quest for you to complete. Until you complete the quest you will not be able to collect feathers.

DO NOT turn these in as you get them. Save them for when you are revered. At revered you will no longer receive 5 rep for killing each one. You will have to kill 10s of thousands of these to get the feathers you need to get exalted.

If you save them until you are revered, your grind to exalted will be a lot easier.

After killing furbolgs in the northern camp, I've figured out the droprate.

From 400 fubolgs I got 99 feathers. 24,75% droprate, meaning that you'll have to kill 8400 furbolgs to get the feathers needed to go from revered to exalted. That's double to furbolgs you need to kill to get from 0/3000 neutral to revered :(

It appears now the rep per turn in has been changed to 75 instead of 50 for non-humans. Currently sitting at 7314 rep into revered and it looks like approximately another three and a half stacks of these feathers will get me to exalted.

seems to me the deadwoods in northern felwood drop these much more often.

on my server, this rep grind is a nightmare. unless i play at very odd hours, there are always at least 10 other people grinding, and with so few mobs, it's just frustrating.

it's a little better in winterspring, but, they don't drop feathers, so that just makes for even slower going.

I'm half through Neutral, still getting rep with the southern Felwood furbolgs. Though I haven't gotten any of these feathers for a while. I'm grouping with random folks to go faster, they all get feathers, I get none. Very strange. I wonder if there is a point at which you stop receiving them as drops because of rep level.

I haven't tested with the northern furbolgs yet.

At what reputation level can you no longer turn these in?

Non-hums need 2200 feathers, hums only 2000(to get the last 22000 rep from 0revered ->999 exalted)
which is 440 turn ins for nonhums, 400 for hums;
8 and a bit stacks for non-hums, 8 stacks flat for hums.

It appears that as of classic, and maybe before, that these items will only drop after doing the initial quest to kill 6 of multiple types of deadwoods, Timbermaw Ally, dont waste the hour or two me and my wife spent farming these without a single drop!

these seem to drop from the higher level northern furbolgs much more often than the southern ones.
