Great for reflecting fear in PvP.

Fun History: When the green dragons were first released it was possible to use this to reflect the Corruption of the Earth ability used by Emeriss. Essentially once you got her to 75% you could kill her immediately with her own ability. This was obviously patched very quickly.

Ipvoidx has this very right, this made Emeriss a joke of a fight and was promptly nerfed the following week after discovery.

Destruction locks will many times deathcoil immedietly after throwing a shadowbolt at a seduced target. Trinketing out of the seduce and popping this trinket will not only reflect the shadowbolt but the deathcoil as well. Since deathcoil is one of the main defenses of a lock, the fight should be in the bag at this point. Alternatively, one could try and pop this trinket as the shadowbolt hits to reflect the deathcoil only if PvP trinket is not up.

being a rogue, letting a warlock out of your stunlock for just a few seconds, you find out that they were SPAMING deathcoil just as fast as you were spamming hemo/ss
if you time when they break out of your stunlock and flip this on, their deathcoil is just an extention to the stunlock.

This can be used as a shadow priest in combination with Shadow Word: Death. Pop trinket+cast SW: Death. The enemy takes both the initial damage + the one you inflict on yourself upon cast. Quick burst dmg!

It actually has a fairly decent rate vs. level 70 in PvP, around 70-80%.

If you equip this trinket out of combat, how long before you can use it? 30 seconds like most other trinkets?

If thats the case, I really can't justify running around in PVP using this in my trinket slot.

Formerly a very potent item to have in order to stop heavy Shadow users (i.e. Locks and S. Priests)... However, like most older Engineering Trinkets... it received a series of nerfs.

The biggest nerf to this came around 2.2. The nerf in question is that you can 'resist' the buff completely. Given that there's so many useful trinkets out there now (the Insignia of Alliance/Horde, all sorts of On Use trinkets WITH Stats, yadda yadda), equipping this is a gamble with the odds not quite in your favor.

Basically... like all other On Use Items, you have to wait 30 seconds for it to "warm up" and become usable. Now, that's basically 30 seconds minimum you are running around with a trinket that gives a very small Shadow Resist at the 60-70 range... and then, when you can use it... well chances are you might just resist your buff... making the whole point of equipping it useless... and if you hoping to ensure survival.. well forget it.

I find the nerf to the Reflectors particularly offensive... for the most part, you couldn't aquire or use many of these trinkets conceivably into your 50s. This one trinket in particular isn't usable until level 55! So the end result is that you have a faithful trinket for around 5 levels tops! After that, this is basically trash... why wear an item with a weak resist and chance to do NOTHING else to try and ward off one class and one spec... when there's many other trinkets out there that are usable, and even less expensive?

This line - "Chance to be resisted when used by players over level 60." nerfed it to oblivion now at lvl 80. All those reflectors had pretty fair chance to acutally work at lvl 70 (about 50%), however, another 10 levels and these trinkets are just "junk".

Did series of tests and the results are very disappointing. Out of 30 tries (all three reflectors combined), only Flame reflector worked - once. If we assume that their success rate is same for all three refletors, this gives you about 3 - 4% chance to actually work.

However, the sample size is pretty small, so the actual chance could be higher. Still, I wouldn't sell these trinkets; Blizzard once said they could remove this "over 60" fail chance. We can only hope.

Only really useful if you know you'll be fighting a lock or a shadow priest soon, but won't be needing the reflect in the next 30 seconds, or just feel like sacrificing the trinket slot if there's a lot of shadow stuff flying around.

as far as I know, all of the reflector trinkets only reflect direct damage - not aoe, etc.

One of the major reasons to make these reflector trinkets is for the resistance's. 20 shadow resistance comes in very handy for the high end raids.

when you use 2 of these thats 40SR on trinkets. that is outstanding in for the lock tanks in the twin emp fight. sure only one fight but a really hard one

about all this "shadow priest watch out" stuff, im not sure why you are so worried about them, or rather, why you arnt far more worried about warlocks. they are the ones who really pump out shadow dmg (not that shadowpriests dont) but it seems to me reflecting their *!@# back would be much more tasty

this comming from a lock who (generally) can beat down on most stuff i run into. would just seem more fun to reflect a 3000 crit shadow bolt then a lousey dot from a priest, or reflect all the locks curses for that matter, that could be fun too.

what would happen if 2 were activated when you shot (for instance) a shadowbolt? would it keep reflecting untill one wore off lol?

Just wondering if this would reflect the twin emp sbolts at them, I tanked them last night, but I have been to afraid to activate it... I wont want the immunity to make me deaggro them... not sure if it will,

Well, just wondering, anyone ever try to use this on the emps? I mena the actual use, not just the SR.

The bolts are single target so i wonder if i can make them hurt themselves for 4 k lol.

on PVP. dont think of it as a damage weapon agains warloks of shadow priest, this of it as 5 sec inmunity against them, just activate it as soon as they are on range of attack. since since most of them always start with dots as soon as they are on range, dont way to see them cast a mind fly, shadow bolt or fear. that way if you make it to kill them, you wond die with all the dots they used.

the pasive stats are better than its use, 5 sec its really low, i have only used it wisely on PVP agains a shadow priest, you have to guess when he is going to use the dots and blast. 5 secs of inmunity.

but the +20 Shadow resist its great, i used this trinket on my hunter quest, its great i resisted most of the damage, i had 150 shadow resist =)

It doesnt just make u immune for 5 secs, it reflects the shadow school spell back to the caster, meaning that the lock or priest will have the nasty dot on their arses instead of u. It rocks in pvp, and u will have some great laughs watching the lock/priest run around in panic having feared themselves ;)

i saw someone ask about the cooldown, but i dont think i saw someone replying to that post, so what's the cooldown... i got a gnomish eng. mage at 315 eng, and i plan on twinking it to lvl 49, and so far, every time i face a warlock... even though they die first, i end up dying by the dots so no real win there, want to know if it's worth making for bg's, will i be able to use it more than 2-3 times in a single battle? or does it have a gay cooldown around 30min, cus' if it's around 5min i'll get it at what ever price =)

Edit: nvm, yes, i'll try and look at the details first, 5min cooldown, and req. lvl 55 so nvm :(

me and my friend had a duel ( he is 60lock ...
so I used this and ZOMG reflected a crit shadowbolt

this trinket owns like the 2 others ( fire & frost )

Equals a warlock death sentence. Especially the affliction ones who think it's funny to load on Unstable Affliction at the end. I pop it on my priest and dispel myself. :D

Kinda sucks with the whole 'over 60' nerf though, considering how hard it was to make. I hope it gains a newer counterpart, though I doubt it.

some one told me that this one can reflect the shadow damage you take when you dispell a warlock's unstable afflication. some one had experiment?

Blizzard once more nerfed already worst and most expensive proffesion in WoW... thank to Blizzard to make some of the best/most expensive items useless trashes....

Shadow Reflector now just doesnt work at all. At level 70 it worked 1/15 times.... thanks Blizard genius devs... i just wasteed tones of gold for this *!@#... it was so wonderfull some time ago...

Honestly, this trinket is virtually usless unless you are a Level 59 twink. This requires level 55, so its only good for 5 levels before it has a chance of failure. Blizzard massively fails, as per normal. Every patch is a nerf to another trinket, game convenience, weapon or profession. No wonder so many people quit.

They should make this trinket equipable at Level 40 or 45, in all honesty. It would be worth it. Maybe take off a bit of the Shadow Resistance (not TOO much) to make up for being able to equip it earlier.

To clear up some Q's about that nerf... you have a chance to resist the reflector when you use it. Yes you resist your own buff! Once you don't resist and see the buff your good to go for 5 secs. Tried this with both my shadow and ice reflectors.

Use: Reflects Shadow spells back at their caster for 5 sec. Chance to be resisted when used by players over level 60.

Used by and used on are 2 different things.

When you are an engineer demonology warlock, from two of this trinket you get 40 shadow res, from MD felhunter 60, and from Demon Armor 15. 115 shadow res, and just started to count your cloth, so 350 shadow res is reachable easily.

This device can be very good for twin emperors, and probably has the same useability in Naxx.

I can also craft it for a small fee.

Between the schematic and the materials, I spent about ~250g putting this thing together... and I'm sort of disappointed in it. It does NOT reflect or even make you immune to the priest's fear (Psychic Scream), the first thing I did once I got it was run out to Dun Morogh and duel a priest. It still reflects all shadow spells where the priest/warlock is actually targeting you, though, so it could be situationally useful. Not game breaking though, and maybe not even worth the trinket slot as you'll likely only have time to reflect 1 spell.

The shadow resist is very nice, but really only worth it if you're a tank.

I'm a rogue in blue's and a couple epics...I pop this whil backstabbing them and they DoT/Fear themselves and if they have a succubus it will seduce itself. It allows me to beat warlocks in full tier 1/2 and I freakin LOVE it :)

would not reflect priests fear because it is an AOE, not being directly casted at you, while the warlock fear has you targeted. the same matter is why ice reflecter wouldn't reflect blizzard or frost nova, and why fire reflecter wouldn't reflect flame strike. it has to be a spell that requires a target, not aoe thats clicky or targets ground. they make you immune, but will not reflect.
