i found the best spot to catch these fish is in camp mojache, tenaris...as soon as you get off of the flight path...there is a bridge going over the little river... pop a squat right next to that bridge, get your tacle box open...grab a 12 pack and start realin them boys in,....

my catch percentage here has been in teh high 80s to low 90s for redgill...

This is what I got for fishing in Ferelas for about 15min out of the river that runs through Camp Mojache.

Total Fish Caught : 51

Raw Redgill : 23
Raw Sunscale Salmon : 12
Raw Mithril Head Trout : 9
Oily Blackmount : 4
Lightning Eel : 3

So if you're after Redgill Ferelas seems like quite a solid place. Also, if youre leveling cooking you have to head there to get the recepie for Lobster Stew and Mightfish Steak anyway.

Fishing for Raw Redgill at 43.7,51.9 was very fruitful in this area but fish into the main lake at the mouth of the western bay, This is in moonglade by the way.

Ferales was a great place for these. I spent maybe half an hour and caught 75 or so of them and had plenty of extra crap to sell as well.

Patch 4.0.3 situation.
Flew to Chillwind Point and went directly north to the waterway. Server time was 1AM. Cast from a tiny spot of shore. With Fishing skill 200 I could catch Redgill but I also caught weeds. So I used the gnomish fishing lure that grants +100 fishing skill for 10 minutes. There were no schools of any kind. I used two such lures for 20 minutes of fishing, any more would have been too boring.

29 nightfin snapper
11 lesser fish (mithril head trout and oily blackmouths)
no trash items

So I caught 2 redgill per minute and 3 nightfins every 2 minutes.
I raised Fishing skill 1 point about every 5 catches.
If you are skilling up cooking, when nightfins are orange the redgill are yellow. If you are at cooking skill 250 and looking to get up to 300, I recommend you cook the redgill first though they are yellow, and then cook the nightfins. The redgill green at 262 but you'll still get a few points out of them. 20 minutes worth of fishing took me from 259 to 289 in cooking skill.

I have a fishing skill of 230, and fished 10 of these up in EPL within a 10-12min period.

Location: The Infectis Scar, though I don't think this matters.

You can fish these in the Verdantis River in Feralas with a reasonable drop rate.

Here's what I got after a while of fishing in 62,51. Starting fishing skill: 248, +100 from pole and lure:

For the record, I tried in the stream near Camp Mojache, and i just got a lot of mithril head trouts, with only one or two redgills, so apparently the location does matter.

I tried some of the other places for the fish but the only place I could really find it with ease was Lake Mereldar near Light's Hope in the Eastern Plaguelands. I pretty much got redgill every time. I tried Feralas but could not get any redgill at all.

Went to moonglade, WPL, and EPL and found no specific spots of the redgill's, nothing but Greater Sagefish pools.

Corrected Went to moonglade and fished in the Raw Greater sagefish pools and I definitely caught plenty of Raw Redgill's to raise my fishing by 20 and allowed me to raise my cooking as well.

I think up where it says "fishing locations", WPL and EPL should be switched. Based from what I've been reading of the success people have been having fishing them in WPL and the time I spent trying (unsuccessfully) to fish them in EPL. So, just letting people know, if that's what you're going by, it doesn't seem right. So it should say WPL (104), and EPL (3) instead.

What's with all these posts that think 100 fish or less is a suitable test sample of data for this game? 1000 catches at a minimum, or don't even bother wasting people's time.

Moonglade with a minimum of 225 fishing (base, pole, lure, combination, doesn't matter) remains one of the best places in the game to get Raw Redgill and either Raw Sunscale Salmon or Raw Nightfin Snapper (depending on time of day). You'll also come away with a fair amount of Raw Mithril Head Trout, as it is the "previous skill range fish" of the below Raw Redgill, the same as Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish was for places you caught Raw Mithril Head Trout, Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper was for Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish, etc.

For those of you working your way through cooking through fishing, the next place on your list should be Blasted Lands at the pond between Surwich and Sunveil Excursion in southern Blasted Lands, provided you fished up enough Redgill and Salmon/Snapper that your Cooking hit 275.

The 'S' looking lake just a little southeast of Dire Maul.

Requires fishing skill 200+

Was catching them almost every cast.

My troll shaman (lvl 49, 275 fishing skill) went to Verdantis River in Feralas in order to verify Sercease's claim for every cast Redgills. Halfway through it started raining, and the Redgill yield dramatically dropped for about seven, eight minutes before it peaked again. In all, in comparison to QueenAnita's post but without checking it for myself, I think I would prefer Verdantis River to Bloodvenom falls river in Feralas. Hope this information helps: here's the complete 30min turnout.

He's inside the large building at (28, 74) called "The Old Port Authority". His shop is named "Good Food", located at the ground level.

Was fishing for about 50 min. in the river right next to bloodvenom post in Felwood.

Caught 100 fishes.

9 oily Black mouth.

The time was between 22.00 and 23.00
So Sunscale salmon and Nightfin Snappers dosen't seem to care much about the time of the day.

I spent 45 minutes fishing at Thondroril River (which is the border between Western Plaguelands, and Eastern Plaguelands), without lure (because I forgot to get any), and the result was:
14 Raw Redgill
8 Raw Nightfin Snapper
2 Raw Mithril Head Trout
All other fishes got away but even so, my skill at fishing went from 215 to 218

I spent 35 minutes fishing at Camp Mojache in Feralas, nearby Orwin Gizzmick
First 15 minutes without lure I got 8 fishes, all the rest got away, next 20 minutes I used Bright Baubles which I got from Sheendra Tallgrass at Camp Mojache
The total result was:
29 Raw Redgill
17 Raw Sunscale Salmon
8 Oily Blackmouth
2 Lightning Eel
1 Raw Nightfin Snapper
1 Raw Mithril Head Trout
1 34 Pound Redgill
1 Greater Mana Potion

My skill at fishing went from 218 to 225

As a level 38 hunter, this was a better place than Thondroril River, because to reach Camp Mojache the mobs were not so high level, and once reached, the flying master is nearby the fishing spot
