This item can be acquired through Enchanting vendors (there's always one at each city, several more in other locations) by buying it at 8 silvers each (7s20c with the Revered discount). Since it's a pretty early material to level Enchanting, you can buy ahead before starting leveling, but Strange Dust (also sold at the same vendors, for the same price - but in this case it often can be bought at AH for even lower) should be your primary material throughout almost the whole first 100 levels.

It should aslo be mentioned that essences have higher "drop" chance from weapons than from armour

no NPC sells these anymore, I have been to every single NPC that used to sell them and none of them do

How often do these respawn?

I'm waiting at the vendor Cordell but i don't see them respawn. Also, at the AH on my realm they are selling for around 7g each(!).

Maybe a better idea to level enchanting early on is to disenchant cheap green items.

Is it just me or is getting this stuff while you still at a level where it's usefull nearly impossible!

Something else that drives me crazy is that the people who drop it 100% of the time or more are all located deep in Alliance territory..

Why not just by the stuff from a Enchanting Supply person? Enchanting supply people all over the place. Its not like you have to get the stuff on the AH.

well you also gotta think those vendors only carry so many magic essences so it sucks trying to buy them sometimes and to get them on the AH >< ripoff even for the lesser ones !

Cant find any of this #$%^e anywhere, im lvl 23 now and haven't seen it drop or from a disenchant!

Just farm the Deadmines over and over again for all the greens that drop there and get the essences from disenchanting them.

I am a level 60 NE Druid. I've just acquired enchanting from dropping alchemy. Just remember that you can build your skill up by disenchanting other players items. Go to Iron Forge and disenchant items for players, free of charge.you will level up quickly. Make sure you advertise "DE(disenchant) only" at a lower skill level. Do it honestly and you will have players bothering you for enchants when your skill level can perform those tasks. Can you say "that will be 5 gold please"?LOL. But seriously, its an honast way to make money, and help others at the same time.

Enchanting could be a bit frustrating, specially when u have just started it.

To disenchant (i mean first lvls) u need to have a Rune. To enchant u need to have items got from disenchanting greens like: strange dusts, lesser magic essence etc. and u can enchant one and the only one item which ur enchanting spell says, ur gonna use like: bracers, weapon, shield etc. U cant enchant chest if it says, enchanting Cloak etc.

Is it any rule which gives me idea, what kind of greens i ned to disenchant to get Lesser Magic Essence, Lesser Astral Essence or small GLimmering Shard etc. etc. ?

Has anyone else had problems getting magic essence -- greater or lesser. I go off the list on thottbot of items that can be disenchanted to get this, but they keep giving me strange dust instead. At one point I got up to 60+ strange dust and had to resort to buying the lesser magic essence to enchant items. Even that didn't work well since most enchanters only carry 1 or 2 at a time. I still get lucky and occassionally get lesser or greater magic essence by disenchanting dropped items, but I would love to find a more reliable way. As a tailor I can make a lot of green items, but few seem to yield what I want.

Ive found out RFC/deadmines (horde/alliance) is really good if u switched professsions at like lvl 70

Im a 60 drood and i just dropped skinning and picked up enchanting. ive run rfc like 80 times this past week. i just farm greens then DE them. really nice:)

I only just learnt enchanting and already ive earned 3 gold 26 silver so if your struggling for money i would recamend enchanting.

A basic way is IF u have disenchanting and tailoring make brown linen robes and disenchant them. On my server they Dont sell at all.

weapons give the greatest chance for Greater Magic Essence

armor give the greatest chance for Strange Dust

I just made a Mage recently, and i was told by a couple of friends that i should take up enchanting and tailoring.

Its a good combo i must say, but its hard to ever get any Lesser magic essence. i get a lot of soul dust and strange dust. never lesser magic essence.

Ok, I have been to all the places where it says it drops and killed many many times and never even found one. Also, what does the number mean? Like the greater plainstriders says # 4?

I have obtained 3 from vendors( 2 in undercity ans 1 in stillmoon). It appears that vendors only have this item if a player sells it to them. Blizzard is basically telling the new Enchanters to go fight and loot and hope for enchanting success or Go make another person rich by buying their over priced AH items.

The idea of dienchanting something is OK if you're not low skilled and have the ability. For a starter in enchanting, it's a PITA trying to find vendors that sell it.

You get this from Disenchanting. I sell it at AH on my server for 10g/stack of 10. Not much competition and it sells fast.

Has it all gone? Did the demon leave or something? You used to be able to get it at enchanting suppliers, but they never have it anymore.
Or is this Blizzards way of saying "Too many enchanters."?
