The "new" Darkmoon currency, replacement the old tickets. These are picked up from the new quests and daily quests at the Darkmoon faire. At 90 per pet, and 180 per mount it will take 900 to get all 6 pets and 2 mounts (540 for pets, 360 for mounts).

Currently looks like you can get 150 per week of the faire with quests, dailies and turn-ins combined, for a total of 6 weeks(months) to get all mounts and pets.

More accurate breakdown:
5 per set of dailies for 40 total (get an extra days worth if you start before reset on the sunday)
10 for
4 each for Primary profession quests = 8 Total
3 each for Secondary profession quests = 12 Total

So 70 total from quests picked up at the faire. The remaining amount is obtained by hand-ins that drop if you have your Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide with you.
There is a total of nine quest items, 5 tickets each for the 3 pvp, 10 each for the 5 dungeon ones and 15 for the raid hand-in, totalling 80.

Also if you manage to loot the chest in the Darkmoon Deathmatch you will get an additional 5 Prize tickets.

If you haven't done the lead in quest pre-patch you can get an additional 5 from The Darkmoon Faire (thanks elionor).

Edit: Month 2 and it looks like some of the quests haven't reset properly, i.e. 2 out of the 9 item hand ins appear to think I've already done them this month. Hopefully they can fix this bug or it could slow ticket acquisition down a fair bit.

It will take you about 6 months to earn all the pets and mounts, 2 months for a set of transmog gear, and unless youre not interested in either of those, youre probably better off getting heirlooms with justice/honor points still.

Assuming you have all secondary professions, thats 6 more monthly quests, at 4 tickets each for primaries and 3 for secondaries; a total of 20 tickets.

There are the 5 faire games, which on live are now only rewarding 1 ticket each. If you do them after midnight on the saturday before dailies reset, gives you an extra day, so thats 8 days times five tickets for another 40 tickets.

And finally, with your Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide in hand, youre eligible to loot the Darkmoon Artifacts, which im assuming are also weekly turn ins. With the 3 battleground ones being worth 5 tickets, the 5 dungeon boss ones being worth 10 tickets each and the one raid one (still speculative) being worth 15. for a total of 80 more tickets.

Theres also the 5 tickets from the one time quest The Darkmoon Faire, which you cant even get if youve done the faire prior to its 4.3 incarnation, so i wont count that.

Unless i missed something, that gives you a grand total of 150 tickets per faire, so a little more than one pet or not quite one mount per month.

It seems like a lot, but if i recall correctly, this is a similar time investment to getting your Crusader title and all 13 mounts and 11 pets from the argent tournament, i think that took me maybe 4 months, but that was EVERY day, not 8 days a month. 120 days for 24 mounts and pets, vs 48 for 8, not too bad.

It should also be noted that these tickets are worth 2g 50s each (buying the 14 slot bags and reselling them). So 12,5g per day for doing these darkmoon dailies.

Considering the rewards for a normal quest at 85, this doesn't seem like much, however for the time spent and perhaps at a much lower level, this might be worth doing. Heck, it will give you something to do with these tickets if you aren't into the whole mount/pet collection thing.

Also, I keep imagining the faces of people farming these, when I vendor them for 2g 50s each right in front of them :)

You can purchase many items using the Darkmoon Prize Ticket (note that on live it is now a currency: ), here is a small sample:

As mentioned in my other post, if you actively PvP in the Darkmoon Arena (event starts each 3 hours, 1500, 1800, 2100, e.g.) and win you earn 5 extra tickets from the chest.

The only quests that remain dailies, are the tonk, ring toss, cannon ball, shooting gallery, and the whack a gnoll.

Which means after you do the secondary quests and professions quests, book turn ins, and test your strength, you will only get 5 dailies a day. Which is 35 per week, unless you do the extra set after midnight on Saturday, before 3 am on Sunday, to give you 40 tickets per a week.

This means it will NOT take 7 weeks for the pets and mount to be all collect, but 14 weeks. And since the faire comes around once a month, those 14 weeks, is 1 year and 4 months.

It will be 18 days of doing the 5 dailies, for a pet. Which is 2 faire cycles, and 3 days. You will get 4 (or 5 if you do the extra set of dailies on Saturday after 12 before 3 am on Sunday) to count towards you next pet. SO basically, 2 pets every 5 months. Or 1 mount, every 5 months.

IF the other quests become monthly, which cannot be confirmed yet, it would be the 6 months. But since so many of the above posts, banked on all quests being daily or monthly, the numbers may be inaccurate.

THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF TICKETS ONE MAY ACQUIRE THE FIRST AND FOLLOWING WEEKS

I'm pretty sure there are others like me with the OCD of trying to get as many tickets as possible in order to purchase as many faire items as they can, so here are my findings: 5 tickets for the one time only quest entering the faire, 10 for test your strength, 80 for artifacts, 40 for daily quests (keep in mind, to get 8 days worth of dailies, you have to do the first day's worth at midnight before the daily reset on Sunday), and 20 for professions (8 from primary, 12 from secondary (must be min lvl 75 in all)) gives you a total of 155.

However, there are 9 other primary professions! You can drop your primary professions and pick up new ones and level them to 75 for an additional 4 tickets per profession picked up leading to a potential of an additional 36 tickets. New total 191!

Yet again, more? Yes, you can also acquire 5 more tickets per chest looted during the Faire at the arena (starts every 3 hours, 55 times a week). Theoretically speaking, you could get 275 more tickets here!

Grand total possible tickets? 467 :o. But realistically, expecting 200 is not unrealistic with hardcore grinding!

Some things to keep in mind, next faire, the max would be 462 because the faire entry quests is one timer only, ever. Also, one of the dungeon artifacts, A Treatise On Strategy is fairly rare and for those without the spare gold, may not be able to readily afford it (it does reward the most tickets thought at 15).

For other people, like me, who have already gotten the 12 trinket achievement but are still after tickets because of mounts/pets - what I do is help people out with getting the trinket, and making a deal of me looting the tickets and leaving the trinket for them.

The tickets for looting the Darkmoon Arena chest are currency loot (i.e. Mote of Darkness in Dragonsoul) and get rewarded to you as soon as you loot the chest (first looter). You can leave the rest of the loot inside but still acquire the tickets.

This for me is a fast way to still get tickets at a nice pace and help people out at the same time.

Soooo.. I like all this new stuff I can buy with this new, non-bag cluttering, curency. Although.
What do I do with all my old tickets?Tattered Darkmoon Faire Prize Ticket
Leave them to rot in my bank?
Spread them equally across all my storage and look at them in contempt of them being useless?
Or, sit and ask myself "why did i not use these?"
I surely can't throw them away...right?

Even if you done the primary profession quests that week, if you drop a profession during Darkmoon Faire week, you can do the quests for the profession that you pick up as well. Even rewarding the achievement Faire Favors without completing one of the secondary skill quests such as Archaeology or Fishing.

Possibly means that if your toon has no professions you could conceivably do the quest for every primary profession each month, awarding you with 36 Darkmoon Prize Tickets instead of just 8. (Assuming you're willing to get each profession to 75 and really really want the tickets right meow.)

Here's a handy tip.

Create a text document on your computer or calendar in the format of a quest tracker for each date of the week the Darkmoon Faire is here.

Display all the weekly objectives on a separate place, and then all the daily tasks.

Then each day, just do them and check them off your calendar.

This helps to get all 145 Darkmoon tickets a month, which is really essential for going for the high-end items that cost a lot of tickets, like the mounts, vanity pets, or replica sets.

Does anyone know what the limit is on how many tickets 1 toon can have at once? My shaman currently has 406. I wanted to save enough to get all the Darkmoon Faire mounts & companions at once.
