Did this last night on live, (3.0.2), on Shadow Council US. Guild: Black Omen.

Velen is considered a level 83 mob, and has 5.5 million hp. So stack LOTS of hit rating, assuming you are trying this at level 70. The fight took 30 minutes with 30 people, gear ranged from Season 2 to Sunwell, but was worth it.

We tried Tyrande, her starfall aoe now hits for 2600 a tick or so, that and the surprise of spells missing 90% of the time kinda forced a wipe. Magni Bronzebeard also now has an aoe knock back that hits for 13k, not sure if that is even doable till we are a much higher level.

Done tonight on Malorne (US); led by the guild iCrit with several non-guildies (myself included).

Some tips:

* Do NOT use any form of mana drain on him. Should he run out of mana, he will then begin using his one-shot melee attacks; this essentially becomes an enrage timer. If you keep steady dps on him and do not use any mana drain on him, though, this will not be a problem.

* The non-elite guards (level 75, ~15k HP) and the elite Shield of Velen (? bosses, ~25k HP) will respawn about every 4-5 minutes. Stop dps on Velen when they appear to deal with them quickly, then return to Velen when they are down.

* He casts a heal on himself that needs to be interrupted (has about a 3-second cast) as well as a fear that lasts ~ 8 seconds; the raid needs to stay on the steps when attacking Velen to prevent being feared into the elites on the back of the platform opposite where Velen is standing at the start of the fight.

* As a level 83 boss, he is VERY hard to hit with spells. I was hitting on only about 20-30% of my mage spells, and even then, he resisted on about 75% of the damage.

* Bring anything and everything that helps with mana regeneration; this is a VERY long fight (at least 15-20 minutes with a full 40-man raid). You WILL burn through several mana pots and/or mana gems (as well as a few evocations if you're a mage) before this thing is over.

Generally speaking, Velen is likely the easiest of the Alliance bosses to kill, if for no other reason than there's practically no high-level Alliance players around to interrupt you. None showed up for our fight (even though we wiped once) just a few lowbies who watched what was happening.

By the way, while you are there, you may as well get the exploring achievements for Azuremyst and Bloodmyst Isles.

It seems to be hard for huge group of player,he got battle ground master npc in area it easy to aggro them.

I did this with a 40man raid. Gear was on average, fairly good. The fight took 20 mins, but at 100k health, we wiped since someone pulled BG masters. No need to say everyone was $%^&ed, including me. Disbanded immediately.

I am a Elemental Shaman and quit with spells since not one were hitting, so I threw on a 2H, put up Windfury, Strength of Earth, and Searing and began to wail on him all ghetto like. Worked well as I was actually dealing damage, even if never more than 100dps.

Hunters did especially well, we had 6 hunters and 5 of them were top dps, then a rouge, then other hunter. I recommend that for these raids, if you can go a melee spec, you should. If not, just do your best or kill any adds or players looking to interrupt you.

Also, from what I've heard, it's a HK. So bring 2 or more raids if you can.

Downed on Sargeras US PvP January 13 2009 at 12:55AM EST. Did this boss right after we killed Bronzebeard.

Velen is by FAR the easiest city boss.

Tips:

- Take the boat to Exodar via Auberdine, get everyone on that boat.
- When you arrive at Azuremyst Isle, hang a left from the docks and there is an unguarded tunnel that goes DIRECTLY into the Vault of Lights.
- Go straight for Velen's area and fight him on the staircase.

We did not have to fend of any alliance. There were two level 80 alliance watching the fight, one tried attempted to kill one of us and got beat down.

The only guards we had to dealt with were a few city guards, a small group of 65 mobs, and a few "Shield of Velen" guards. After that, I don't think any guards spawned at all.

We fought him on the staircase with 29 people, after losing 11 who had school or work in the morning. He is abilities are weak, so we had no problems, and he dropped very fast.

Theres an alliance quest at blood watch that spawns him, if only for a couple minutes, would it count for horde to kill him there? it would be easier then to deal with gaurds, players etc. just get somebody who plays alliance to run through the quest and get him there.

40-man raid downed him easily. The Exodar was a ghost town. Absolutely no player resistance whatsoever. We just ran in and burned him down on the spot. After that, we went back to down Varian Wrynn again.

Extremely easy. Took my 40 man raid group (who wiped in Darnassus, that's how bad we were) about 5 minutes to down this guy.

The whole city is deserted, and nobody cares about that guy. Just take a boat from Auberdine, go through the tunnel to the north, and you're literally about twenty yards from him. Start DPSing him like mad and he should fall quickly.

Will I be able to do this acheivement without BC if others in raid group do it?

Attempted him last week on 破碎岭 of wow china. Patch 3.1.3 with no wotlk content available to us. Very hard to kill and wiped at 13%. I wont try attacking another city boss until wotlk comes out in china, probably in 20 years if i am fortunate

If anyone knows his background, have sympathy for him and don't kill him, give Saurfang a break from scaring bears into mailboxes for Garrosh. I mean really, he is an exile, his friends want to kill him and destroy the world, and he is extremely old. You wouldn't hurt your grandfather, would you?
