This is referring to Gahz'ranka.

Here's a guide some found helpful:

"For those uninitiated...

To summon Gahz'ranka you'll need mudskunk lures and zulian mudskunks (fish). Here are the steps:

(1) Enter ZG (you'll need to be at least lvl 55 and in a raid group... get a friend to grp with you and convert to raid; if either of you drops group, you'll be ported, so get someone who isn't questing since being in a raid will prevent him from completing most quests). I recommend lvl 70 so you have a small aggro radius. Make an immediate left through the tall grass and pass to the left of a troll mob in front of a hut (you can mind-soothe as a priest, but it's really unnecessary at 70). Jump into the water, and swim over the waterfall and down into a large circular moat.

(2) You may aggro the fish ("Frenzies"), but they are 60 elite and any class in decent gear can solo them. They give you a 75% armor debuff, but this shouldn't be a problem unless you're fighting more than 1 or 2. Kill the fish.

(3) Go clockwise, killing fish as needed. The 4-packs or 5-packs of alligators on the shore won't aggro if you stay away from them. Some classes can solo these alligators (my holy pally has no problem, but my priest has a rough time), and you may want to for the rep items they drop (coins and bijous) if you care about ZG rep. ZG rep is still useful for enchanters interested in producing mana oil and wizard oil considered by some to be superior to their TBC replacements.

(4) Pagle Point is on the NE corner and pretty obvious. It has no alligators. Run ashore there and collect up as much Darkmoon Special Reserve as you like (gets you drunk). Click on Nat Pagle's measuring tape and accept the quest.

(5) Hearth, force-hearth, or die (naked, but the run-back is longish) and go visit Nat Pagle in Duskwallow Marsh. Turn in the quest, and buy a bunch of Mudskunk Lures from him (1g each).

(6) Return to ZG with a fishing pole and some fishing skill. Look for "muddy churning water" pools (often near alligator groups; if you have fish-finding ability, turn it on) and fish up 5 Zulian Mudskunks. You need 425 fishing to avoid getaways, so max fishing (375 skill) and a lure guarantees you no headaches. You won't be able to fish from land in most spots without aggroing the gators, so either use a priest/shaman (Levitate or Water Walking) to fish, or solo the alligator packs (if you can) or go back to Pagle Point and fish the single pool there, if it exists. Unfortunately a pool will usually yield only 2-3 fish. The pools respawn after some time, probably after soft-reset. The alligator-packs will as well.

An option for non-priest/shaman is to use Elixir of Waterwalking. This elixir is a common reward from the fishing daily, and they are often on the AH.

On some servers the fish are for sale, but that's uncommon.

(7) Get yourself a group and go back to Pagle Point in ZG. Decide on your strategy and click on a Mudskunk Lure with 5 fish in inventory (you do not need fishing skill to do this... anyone can summon with a lure and 5 fish... they are not soulbound). This summons Gahz'ranka. He has been soloed in 70mins, but obviously it's much easier with 3 friends in 5mins.

Go kill the tiger boss up the hill and get your tiger mount afterward! Good luck."

This Achievement only asks you to fish up Gahz'ranka, yet it says nothing about having to kill him to get the achievement. If your solely after the achievement, this can be completed solo with no trouble whatsoever at 70.

However since Gahz'ranka drops the polymorph: turtle book, which can be sold on my server for a huge amount of gold, it would probably be in your best interest to grab a few friends and kill him.

And for those that don't know what the actual Achievement title is referring to, "Deadliest Catch" is a television series on the Discovery Channel that journals the working seasons of multiple fishing boats trying to catch crab off of the coast of Alaska.

The lures/fish are not BoP so what I did was to buy about 20 or so of them. I did my achievement then brought a friend in to do it. For Gazh, once you summon him you are saved to the instance. You can only summon him once per instance reset. That being said, you get credit from the casting of the barrel.

I found that when I brought my friend in and cleared back to Pagle's Point, she cast the barrel, got the achievement, and then I was able to retrieve my 5 mudskunk from the barrel floating in the water.

So if you want to get a bunch of guildies or friends through this, go as a group, maybe even kill him once. Then afterwards you can have everyone hurl a lure to get their achievement. Doing it this way would only require 10 mudskunk...not that they are hard to get at 70 anyways.

Just did this on my 70 hunter.

EASY EASY EASY. Its just time consuming having to get the toolbox from ZG, run to Theramore, then back to ZG again.

A correction on the 1st post (which is nicely detailed btw). You do not have to kill the boss. You click on the lure to attach the mudskunks... and you get the achievement. That's it. You don't even have to cast your line in the water except to catch the 5 mudskunks you need for the lure.

Here's what I did:

Zoned in, looked to my left and saw the waterfall, avoided the hut with 2 mobs near the edge, jumped off the side straight into the water. I then used a potion of water walking to run the left path around the temple in the middle. Both times I came to Paggle's Point, I had fish nab me and that cancels the potion, but they are easy to kill. I reapplied the potion and kept on running.

When I came back the 2nd time to get the mudskunks, there was a muddy pool of them in front of Paggle's Point and another pool down the river a little ways. The pool at Paggle's only gave me 3 mudskunks, so I had to go back upriver to the other node. The problem was, there were 4 crocs standing at the only point you can fish from to get to that other node. I killed them no problem -- fished the node, got the other 2 mudskunks, then went back to Paggle's Point and applied them to the lure -- done. The boss did spawn and I sent my pet at him, but he ate my pet in about 3 bites, so I just feigned death, left my group, and got ported back to shat.

I can't say enough again about how easy this was and I had never been into ZG before. thotbott.com/ss63021 has a nice screenshot of a map with directions except don't go to the right of the temple like the arrow says, go to the left around the temple.

Used The 25 extra skill fishing pole from the horde quests in hinterlands, and bright baubles ( since my fishing was 250. ) Anyways very easy achivement

To get yourself a raid group without your friends having to stay and miss their questing.

1. invite your friend to the group from an alt char. convert to raid and pass lead to them.

2. relog the char. that you want to use for the achievement and have you frind invite to the raid group, pass you the lead and then leave.

Your alt will still be in the group as DC which gives you a 1 man raid.

Bought my mudskunk lures, flew to rebel camp, went in and basically rode right past the mobs to nagel's point (being lvl 80 helped). Fished up the mudskunks from 2 pools, then fished up Ghaz. FD'd then hearthed out.

Check the AH for the Mudskunk Lure.

Go to Pagle's Pointe in ZG and fish up 5 Zulian Mudskunk. (Or find them on the AH)

Use the Mudskunk Lure

You have your achievement.

You do not need to go to Nat Pagle. You do not need to kill the guy.
(If the stuff isn't on the AH, well, that sucks.)

I did this achieve today, it was easy. I'm a resto druid with a boom spec and I did it all, the only help I needed was someone to group with me to form a raid.

As you enter ZG go right then down the water fall, when the river splits go left and all the way up to Pagle Point (turn low quest find on your minimap). This way there is absolutely no mob agro or encounters at level 80. Talk to the guy and take the quest. Then go to Duskwallow Marsh and talk to the fishing guy (the one you used to use to get your fishing skill up). DO NOT FORGET TO BUY THE MUDSKUNK LURE WHILE YOU ARE THERE. Head back to ZG, use your fish find or look for glitter pools of Muddy Churning Water. At fishing skill 450 w/ the fishing hat it took me 2 Pools to get 5 Mudskunks. Go back to Pagle's Point, click on the Mudskunk Lure in your bag and voila you got your achieve.

I decided to give it a shot to kill him, I was hoping for maybe a fishing item since it is a fishing achievement =p. Anyway, I jumped into the water south of where he sits after spawning, there is like a little pool looking secluded area w/ no mobs other than underneath you. So you might want to AOE the fish to death. One Boomy Thunder Cloud took care of them, no need to be scared. Then on to the Boss, just DoT and PEWPEW him, heal yourself up especially when he shoots you into the air, if you land in the water it doesn't hurt as bad. I couldn't figure out how to avoid his freeze breath, I ended up healing myself thru that as well. As long as you are quick and watch your health you won't die. It's a annoyingly fun to solo him but I did it and encourage anyone to have some fun and kill him too, don't just summon and run, summon and kill! There were no special fishing items that dropped from the Boss but wouldn't it be awesome if they changed that? =)

This achievement will turn into a Feat of Strength in Cataclysm, when Blizzard removes Zul'Gurub.
So go get this achievement done, before its too late :)

I did this at level 80 as a Shadow Priest. The heals from my mind flay kept me alive (I chose to stay & kill him) and it was easy. Stick yourself underneath a tree and he can't kick you so far back.
The achievement is granted when he spawns, so you can run, if you need to.

Easy to do at this stage.

If you're using lures, only about 200 something fishing is required to get the Mudskunks. Aside from that this feat is easy. You can even buy the Mudskunks on the AH.
