For the record, as an Alliance member, the maximum number of quests I could find were 62 quests. I reviewed quest lists and I couldn't find any unfinished quests.

Essentially this means you need to do every single quest in the zone as an Alliance if you choose to skip the breadcrumb 'To the Cape!', but I may stand corrected.

Aside from the one mentioned breadcrumb to get to the zone, there doesn't appear to be any others, so you can safely quest anywhere you'd like without clipping the required 60 quests.

Edit: To add, there is a very extensive quest chain in Booty Bay, so it would be ~~advantageous~~ necessary to not be hostile with the Goblin factions if you want this achievement.

I hit a wall with the Cape of Stranglethorn. I'm at 57/60 quests (horde).

I did the STV arena quest, I have been to all the major hubs that i know of and can't find any more quests. I've already cleared out Northern Stranglethorn and grabbed the Orgrimmar quest to send me to the Cape, and I am completely at a loss. Is there some drop quests or single NPC's that I haven't run into or some other "go-to" quests elsewhere?

Having only 3 quests missing is driving me nuts. Also, the Distress Beacon quests that end in Booty Bay don't count. They count for zone where the beacon/robo-chicken was found.

Just done, it was exact 60/60 quests amount for me, had loremaster already and started this area with 0/60.
Done quests from goblin camp, booty bay, 1 leading quest from Ogrimar 1 leading quest from upper area map, bottle quest and arena quest, no more no less, so its doable.

I am still stuck at 57/60 (Horde side), the same with a few others as far as i can see. But! I have a name to mention that seems ... suspicious to me: Flem Gizzix (33.7, 29.1). According to the data base, he seems capable of giving us 4 quests. probably a chain. I can't recall doing any of them. And he won't do me the favor to interact with me. Any of you that can provide us some useful info on that topic, please do so.

P.S. I can confirm i saw someone who went to Bambala before Hadwrenched Hideaway. Flight master of Bambala offered him a free ride to HH, and the damn goblin would give him the quest.... So he was able later to complete his Cape achievement.....

Like everyone else, I'm stuck at 57/60 too. I can confirm one quest in the arena offers credit as well as the coin https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=59143.

I read one crumb quest that was given in Brambala. Since I was so close to completing this quest, I thought I'd go ahead an do my Northern Stranglethorn Vale achievement to find it. To my disappointment, no quest lead me back to Southern SV.

Looking at the list of quests available via Wowhead, the following looks like they SHOULD be offered. However, I have no idea why I can't pick them up:

You need to go get an item drop in northern STV, Disfigured Mosh'Ogg Hand. It drops from the ogres near Grom'Gol. Do it's chain and eventually you get a quest from Skeezy Whillzap to go see the goblin in the cape.

Horde, stuck 54/60 by doing Cape before Northern. Talking to the ogre on Let's see what youve got Zanzil quest is bugged, so that would make it 56, and unable to pickup quests from Flem Gizzix which I believe there are 4 quests which would make 60.

There's currently a bug involving Flem Gizzix not handing out any quests rumored to be related to starting with Cape of Stranglethorn quests rather than Northern Stranglethorn quests. As there is no work-around for the bug at the moment, all we can do is wait for it to get hotfixed before we can complete the achievement.

Edit: And as of 3.12. the issue with Flem Gizzix has been fixed and this achievement is now completable.

I've heard that you have to start quests to north. If you dont your going to miss couples quests in south, they wont appear. I dont know if it's true, but wanted to mention it.

As alliance, I found Cape of Stranglethorn to be the same as all other areas. There are 5 - 7 quest above and beyond the achievement. I finished 66 quest in the Cape. Three which were not part of any chain. Two inside he Arena (you go PvP for these) and one that was picked up by killing Good-Boy Bruce (drop from him that lead to a couple of follow ups).

Other then those three, I followed through all quests as they were given. Also, remember, if you are leveling. The Hero Call picked up in SW counts as one quest.

To get this achievment, follow a couple of simple rules:
1) Start @ North STV, do Bambola quest, which will send you South;
2) Do the bottle quest, that will grant you4 more;
3) Do the gurubashi arena quests. That will give you the last one

As of the 3/12/2010 they fixed the bug were this NPC did not give quests, There for you should be able to now complete all the quests in Cape of Stranglethorn Quests.

Linzi Hewstrike, Dask 'the flask' Gobfizzle, and/or Goris at the coords : 55.3, 42.3 (TCofS) never showed up on my map. Had to do a fly over to see them. If you're stuck around 45 quests it might be a good place to look.

Look up 'Through the Troll Hole' another series of quests.

Currently, if you had grinded up your bloodsail rep into friendly or above pre 4.0, and now wish to do the 4.0+ quests, you will NOT be able to kill any bloodsail even if you click "at war" in the rep tab.
This makes the Cape of Stranglethorn Quest achievement a mite difficult to complete :(

Just contacted a GM and been told the usual "we are aware and will be corrected as soon as possible"

Edit: A guildy in the same situation as me has just shown that while "at war" is selected, AoE abilities will work, but single target abilities just say "invalid target"

i was stuck at 45/60 alliance. i traced it back to the quest to swab the deck. i think it glitched. it said i didnt complete it in time and to grab another mop but i wasnt able to. i just kept going on with the other quests and forgot about it. when i figured this out, i went back to the ship and i was able to talk to the guy down below again. which started another chain on the next ship. another thing i noticed is, if you have someone targeted, the stupid new target symbol on the minimap will cover ?'s and !'s, so target yourself frequently. the ship is at 44.5, 92.5. also dont forget the daily quest at the arena.

Re above - I found the final 19 quests by heading back to Fort Livingston and speaking to Wulfred Harrys who gives 3 quests - one of which is To The Cape - you speak to Robert Rhodes, Gryphon Master who gives you a flight down to Explorers' League Digsite and from there I managed to finish the 60 quests for the achievement.

If you did the quests that lead to the "Piracy" buff and still need "Up to Snuff" or "Keep An Eye Out" quests, simply go to the bloodsail ships and go to the hold and accuse a corsair of mutiny. You can then kill them and get the drops. This worked during and the "Mutiny" quest. Not sure if it will work before. Be sure you do the elder mages and swashbuckler quest first before you get Piracy buff if that's even possible.

Edit: MUST do during the mutiny quest! Cannot accuse them after the quest is done! However, if you complete all the quests in the chain you go back to Booty bay and lose the Piracy buff and can kill bloodsail again.

Check Jaguero Isle, its on the southeast edge of the stranglethorn map. There is a Tauren woman there that gives a quest chain three or four quests long. Happy hunting.

I went almost everywhere on both Stranglethorn maps trying to see if I'd missed something, when I decided to try the pirate ships at the bottom of the Cape of Stranglethorn map for the heck of it and surprise! there were the rest of the quests I needed to complete the achievement :D

I am having a really hard time here, I'm at 41/60 and I cannot seem to find a starter for any quest line. I am using LoreMaster add on, it lists the ones I have yet to do, but.... none are open. I cannot seem to get the Captain's Charts which seem to be a big portion of getting these quests to open. Any suggestions?

I was stuck at 58/60.

After some research, I found out that I hadn't finished THIS quest-chain.

I had completed the "Through the Troll Hole" part much earlier in this zone, (when it ported me into the old ZG the first place, around 78,35.) But I didn't realize what I was supposed to do there, so I flew out and forgot all about this chain..

I came (flew) back there, all around the place, and found out that my quest was "High Priestess Jeklik" (around 78,43), apparently this quest was auto-accepted when I first arrived in here or something, if I only had walked up the road when I first came in here (from 78,35), I would have understood what to do and completed this chain much earlier. /facepalm
(I blame myself for rushing trough all the quests too fast..)

Now I finally have the Cape of Stranglethorn Quests, and ended up with 60/61 quests done after finishing my missing quest-chain.

Hope this info helps other.

When I was at 58/60, I had already done both the "coin quest" (a.k.a. An Old Sea Dog and the "bottle" quest, (a.k.a Message in a Bottle)

Just wanted to say in case it was not mentioned..

I came to cape of stanglethorn not being able to see a single NPC or quest available. I noticed that I was still on one of the Zandalari quests so I quickly finished it then logged in and out.
When I got back in game all the NPC's and Quests were there for me to begin questing so I no longer needed to bang my head against the wall wondering what the hell was going on. :p

Okay, an update as of 4.3, to help clear up some confusion and misinformation in previous posts:

-- The Cape of Stranglethorn is not dependant on Nothern Stranglethorn for quests/chains, nor vice versa;
-- You do not need to complete the dungeon quest given to you by Baron Revilgaz to get the achievement;
-- There is a quest offered by a Bloodsail called Yancey Grillsen that looks like an 'entry' quest for Bloodsail faction (ie that you attack Booty Bay & gain Bloodsail faction) - it is not; several quests in Booty Bay will not open up til this quest is accepted, including all the quests on the pirate ships;
-- The easiest way to make sure you get all the quests, & do not 'miss' or 'skip' any is to start at the dock, & work round to the flight master;
-- There are more than the required 60 quests (about 62 or 63); a couple are "this item begins a quest" drops/pick-ups - notably, the Disfigured Mosh'Ogg Hand & the Half-Buried Bottle); so long as you are diligent & paying attention to your surroundings, none of these should be hard to obtain/complete.
--Because of the hodge-podge 'clumping' of buildings in Booty Bay, the place has about 6 or 7 levels (going from balconys connected by walkways down to basements/cellars and lower dock levels), so some NPCs can seem difficult to find; make sure you look everywhere.

I was stuck too at 46/60. At the bottom of the cape area, there are 3 ships that appear in the map. There's a orc in one of the rooms in the bottom of the ship in the middle. He started "Ol Blasty" , a long quest line that made me go up to 60/60 and one or two more quests to spare. He's easy to miss if you dont look in that room and I did, yeaa, so I got it. This is some kinda bug where some quest marks wont show up on the map.

One tip for those quest hunters out there - as of the writing of this post, one of the biggest add-on assets to have is Quest History Felstone. It logs all the quests in the game as a sortable list, and will query the server to check which quests you have or have not completed. If you are stuck in a zone and are unable to find any more quests, simply bring up the add-on and select "New Quests", and sort by category (zone) - this will tell you which of those last lingering quests you have been unable to track down. It even provides quest IDs so that you can look up on those quests on Wowhead.

This add-on has gotten me out of a bind many a time when I have been stuck on a zone quest achievement, so I thought I'd pass that on to all of you. I am aware that the well known add-on QuestHelper has an incomplete quest feature as well, but I find that Quest History is a lot lighter on system resources than QuestHelper!

Need some serious help all, I am at 59/60. Ever quest in the comments I have done. I have no idea which quest I am missing. I installed an add on called questhubber which shows you all the places on your map that has quests in the zone. It shows I have two left. One is the Pirate hate and cow head quest. Which I did and the only which called the battle for Andorhal which is wont give me. I just need the one quest. Any ideas what I can try?

For anyone trying this who is concerned with reputation losses (Bloodsail Buccaneers vs Booty Bay, that is) there are a couple of options for reducing the damage to the reputations. I was at exalted with both factions and wanted to maintain that as best as possible so that I would have less work returning them to 999/1000 after I finished the zone. These tips saved me several hours of grinding reputation with both factions.

First - Do every reputation neutral quest you can. (duh)
I'm unfamiliar with the Alliance quests in the zone, but Horde starts at Hardwrench Hideaway. There are two breadcrumbs that lead to Hardwrench Hideaway. The first is Warchief's Command: Cape of Stranglethorn! and is only available at the appropriate level. The second, Above My Pay Grade, is given in Northern Stranglethorn, and counts as a Northern Stranglethorn quest. None of the quests offered at this hub affect either Booty Bay or Bloodsail Buccaneers rep. There are a few quests that send you to Northern Stranglethorn, into Zul'Gurub. These all count toward the Cape of Stranglethorn achievement.

The second set of quests that are reputation neutral to these factions start with the quest Message in a Bottle. There aren't many quests in this line, but they do count toward the achievement.

There are several quests in the final quest line that reward Booty Bay reputation but do not hurt Bloodsail reputation. Nothing much to say about them, except that I was happy they were there. Oh, and you get to cut the head off a cow.

Second - Avoid losing Bloodsail Buccaneers reputation
Every Bloodsail reputation point you lose will eventually cost you between 4 and 5 Booty Bay reputation points to repair, depending on your bonuses. Soloing bruisers is also a colossal pain in the butt, even for a well geared tank. Your best bets for accomplishing this are to avoid the largest reputation loss quests you can.

Do not do the following quests:
Stranglethorn Fever
Mok'rash the Cleaver

Both are available early in the Booty Bay quests, and each costs 500 bloodsail reputation. Avoiding these two quests does not prevent other quest lines from opening up, and at least for Horde, you can finish the achievement with the exact right number of total quests.

The only other avoidable reputation loss is on the quest Keep an Eye Out. You'll want to do this at the same time that you do Up to Snuff and Details of the Attack. If, by some chance, you don't get Dizzy's Eye to drop from any of the Bloodsail pirates you have to kill for those quests, find Brutus and kill him repeatedly to get the eye.

Third - Fix your Bloodsail reputation as you go
You're going to be losing Bloodsail rep fairly often in these quests, but if you're already exalted with Booty Bay, you aren't taking advantage of the reputation rewards that you are also being given. My method was to do a lower reputation loss quest, like Scaring Shaky, which costs 250 rep. I then killed 7 or 8 bruisers to fix my Bloodsail reputation, and in the process lost roughly 1000 Booty Bay reputation. I then quested until I had gained enough Booty Bay rep to be close to 999/1000 again, then killed bruisers to lose that rep once more. By doing this, I gained a large amount of Booty Bay reputation (and other goblin reps, for that matter) via quests that I was already going to do rather than having to grind pirates in Tanaris. Don't forget to drop your battle standard before farming the bruisers, it gives you bonus Bloodsail reputation without adding to the loss of Booty Bay rep.

Make sure that you've got a sizable chunk of Booty Bay reputation missing before starting The Bloodsail Buccaneers quest. You'll wind up doing a number of quests that reward Booty Bay reputation without hurting your Bloodsail reputation, and at one point you will be locked in a phased version of Booty Bay where you cannot kill bruisers for reputation. There's no sense in wasting the free Booty Bay rep.

Four - Do some off the beaten path quests
If you're unfriendly or better with Bloodsail, several of the quests will involve you switching At War on and off as you run around trying not to kill any more than are absolutely necessary. One Bloodsail pirate drops a quest item, however, and is worth killing. "Good Boy" Bruce drops the item that leads to An Old Sea Dog. He's expensive to kill, -125 Bloodsail rep, and the quest is another -150 Bloodsail rep, but there aren't many options for finishing the achievement, and you want to avoid the two quests I mentioned earlier if at all possible.

If you are a pet collector and you haven't gotten the Mechanical Chicken yet, I would suggest doing that at this point. You will lose 2000 Bloodsail reputation in the process, but you will also gain 2000 (+bonuses) Booty Bay reputation. None of these quests count toward the achievement, but if you're messing with these reputations and you know that you're going to be doing the chicken quests anyway, you might as well get all the pain over with quickly.

You'll lose 125 rep with the Bloodsails for killing him, but if you are stuck at 59/60 quests, head outside of Booty Bay to the lowest bridge that connects to the island with the Nek'mani wellspring/naga explorers. Look for a small group of pirates and a Worgen named "Good-boy Bruce" that have made a small camp. He drops a Weather Beaten Coin that takes you to the Booty Bay fleet master Seahorn. He's only lvl32 so he's an easy kill.

edit: Also worth noting that when you turn this quest in, you lose a further 150 rep with the Bloodsails.
