One of my fastest AV lasted ~10 minutes.. How can you win in 6 minutes? Mhm..
Maybe you'll need a full raid which rides to Drek and kills him like a normal instance boss without capturing any towers or graveyards?

This is near impossible. The only way I can think of is by getting a premade group of 40 by using an enabler mod and all charging at the opposing faction's boss as suggested above.

But remember this is only early stages, I think blizzard will tweak either this achievement or Alterac Valley so this is actually achieveable.

This actually seems just ridiculous. The fastest AV I've ever won was a 7 minute, well-accepted pug rush, and I can't imagine an organized premade doing much better than that.

Maybe in Wrath they're shrinking AV to 50% of its current size and making it a 40v40 deathmatch.

It is fairly simple, although still very hard to achieve.
These are the requirements:

Premade BG
5 tanks: 1 for each warmaster and 1 for drek
2 cc's: for the wolves
atleast 5 healers (the more the merrier): for the tanks
And a load of dps'
8 paladins (not needed but is helpful when charging for drek because of the Crusader aura)

Tactic:
-Put 1 paladin in each group of the raid, make them cast Crusader Aura
-When match starts mount up quick and charge!
-Nobody enters the Garrison or any tower
-Do not stop to attack horde in the middle
-Get to Frostwolf, depending on the time send some people to Hut to capture it incase someone dies while attacking Drek
-Don't wait for the hut since it take 4 minutes and you have probably already spent 2-3 minutes riding to Frostwolf
-Go in and attack Drek, 1 tank for each Warmaster + Drek. Only the warmaster tanks should be attacking the warmasters, the dps' should all attack drek along with the Drek Tank. And ofcourse the 2 cc's stun or poly or whatever the Wolves. Drek will die in less than a minute and congratulations, you're 1 step closer to becoming
'Battlemaster <Your name>'

Easily did it the first night Achievements came live. For everyone that doesnt know, Boulderfist runs amazing premades(horde side) that can usually hold/defend all towers while assulting the north. To do this in 6 minutes just have everyone in Vent and Single que at the same time. Make sure at least 36 of the raidmembers got the same bg before entering. Then just rush Van/Drek and have your assigned MT pick up Van/Drek and 2 OT pick up 2 generals each while DPS focus's on the boss.

I timed it for my run and from the Opening gates to killing the boss only took 4:45 seconds. Make sure to assult, NOT CAP, Aid/Relief Hut.

Got this on the weekend thanks to about 8 or 9 guys from the same Sunwell guild, enough others in the pug that bought into the rush plan and minimal horde defense.

Won in 5 minutes.

Did this not too long ago, it's not particularly difficult. Group of 15 or so of us is all it took. Two pve geared tanks (one for marshals, one for vanndar), a few healers, and a bunch of dps. The others don't even need pve gear. Made about 25 random players pretty happy.

I've since gotten the howler and the all-star achievement, the hardest by far seems to be defend 50 towers.

Did this a few night ago on my horde rogue. Someone on our server got a group of about 20 people together and we all used the AV Premade Enabler mod to que together. This was the strat the group used:

-We had around four or five bear tanks and healers for each. The rest were decently geared DPS.

-Several pallies for crusader aura (these can be healers or tanks)

-A macro made to spam a message at the start of AV to the other people in the BG something along the lines of "We are doing the Alterac Blitz achievment. We have 6 minutes to kill Van and it takes 4 minutes to get there. Please ride straight to Van. Ignore alliance, bunkers, and do not aggro NPCs. Do not stop for anything." Most of the people in our grouped seemd receptive and agreed to follow these instructions.

- Our group then b-lined straight through the BG. I ended up taking a fair amount of damage from archers on the way up and would recommend bringing pots/bandages to top off quickly before pulling van. This is really important because if you die from a random cleave or what not your going to spawn back at RH or FW and essentialy be out of the fight.

-Basicaly do what one of the above posters said: Have your tanks grab the marshals and Van and DPS him down ASAP. I dont know how much they hit for but I think a bear can tank more than one marshal. Your raid leader can probably quickly thorw up symbols and predermine who is tanking what symbol prior to queing the BG.

I didn't realize this was hard, because I got it in my very first AV since almost a year.

Unlike other archievements, like perfect all star etc, that seems next to impossible to me , this came without any plan

Just a full group random from all servers in the battleground. One guy shouts. "All rush the boss. Enough people listened to that i guess because before I knew it (I was just fighting my second opponent somewhere in the middle, it came:

Battleground has ended: Horde won.

My tactic as a Horde :
Make a premade on your realm, with one or two tanks.
Just run to Vanndar, and nuke.
Did this 3 times now, and it always worked.

I think the marshal/warmaster buffs are auras (noticed them fading while the bunker/towers were still standing), so best would be to pull them to one wall while you nuke the general at the other wall. This totally gimps his DpS and his hp should be <200k. Should't be too hard with 2-4 tanks, ~6 healers, crusader aura and some sick DpS in a premade.

Btw, the Picture is way "harder" than the defense imo, in 40 battles l got 15 towers defended (they only managed to assualt towers about once every 2 battles due to sheer outnumbering), and haven't seen ANYONE get a picture.

Just got this on my horde rogue through a simple "not enough players" win. It was ~30 horde vs 10 alliance, and the not enough players thing ticked down, when the game ended all horde got the blitz achievement.

This is totally possible with a PUG. In fact we got it 3 times in 1 day with my Alliance Druid.
Not that you get the achievement multiple times, but I saw it *ding* for everyone else.

With PUG's, it's more of letting the achievement come to you. Don't force the issue. We all know how eye-stabbingly painful it can be to get anyone to do anything they are "supposed" to do in AV. You'll know right away if you're in a group willing to try, seize that moment.

Hit Drek, ignore everything else. Unless Horde turtles, you should be good.

However, this is assuming people actually listen.

More likely you will hear "No! Save Belinda first" or "Grab the mines!"... Ugh.

Unless, someone wants to summon Ivus the Forest Lord, I'm down with that.

The PUG I was in was in a good mood and everyone just said ''Lets go for The Alterac Blitz!'' and realy everyone went straight for Drek. Just need to be lucky to get a PUG with lots of people who want to do the achievement imo.

I've been in a few PUGs that have tried for this achievement. So far all have failed, usually due to some members engaging drek before the rest of the raid had arrived. It also didn't help that this was the 51-60 bracket so many of us didn't have epic mounts. The epic mount speed difference can be made up for by navigating in a smart way. I've seen 60% mounts keep up with the front wave of epics just by making sharper turns and such.

In my experience, if you try once and fail, the next few matches people will still be willing to try for it, but this only goes so far. After a while people will start QQing about how we're STILL trying it, making getting the numbers we need for Drek harder to get. So far best I've done is make it to about 50% on Drek'thar before a wipe, and that was without a dedicated tank for the warmasters.

Crusader Aura, don't stop for fighting or to rescue friends picked off or Death Gripped. Don't even waste time with the RH.
Just have 1 Immortal-geared tank grab all the adds, have 2-3 equally-geared healers spam him, and however many ridiculous dps (as low as even 4) dps the boss down with the Warmasters up in a matter of seconds.
A well-geared 5-man group or even a 10-man can down the boss if they aren't interrupted by opposing players.

This all, of course, hinges on:

Your puggers don't run out and evade-bug the boss.

Your opponents don't recall / run in and kill your tank or healers.

The Warmasters' charge stuns don't completely shut down heal bombs. Better to bring a few more healers - tank will be hit very hard, even with decked out gear.

I just made a raid of 30 man for alterac blitz. We all were happy because we finally got, after being called spammers and noobs, enough to get the alterac blitz achievemt. but then something happened...

I, leader of the raid, tried to inv us for AV. but...: This raid is too big to get in AV. we splitted up, but it didnt work.

conclusion: you NEED a pug raid, or 5 man party and the rest pug. you can't put more than 5 people in a queue...

I haven't actually attempted this, but here is my theory.

The 4 horde towers buff Drek with 25% increased health and damage each, so if you attempt to do this without capturing any towers, a 200% dmg buff might well one-shot most tanks. It should be possible to have 1-2 people take Iceblood Tower and Tower Point, before the 6 minutes limit expires. That might leave you with anything from 30-60s to zerg Drek.

As of this patch (3.2.2), BGs won't start until both teams are full, making this achievement much harder to get. You now have to make a pre-made in order to do this (unless everyone on your team suddenly leaves after the fight has started, that is).

Got this today and pretty much pugged like 10 people from my server and had them spam rush to Drek macro and had them buff the raid group and drop feasts to make the pug group feel special. Was a dirty tick but it worked :D not to mention its a lot easier now since everyone in AV is 80.

We just did it this way:

We had 13 people in the raid. 2 tanks, 3 healers. We told /2 to all manually queue up (since telling 40 people to DL the addon wouldve taken too long). When in the BG, get a macro ready telling tacs etc.

Tacs are something like this:
-Ignore every bunker, tower, alliance and Balinda.
-Rush to Vann and wait till everyones there.
-Tank vann away from all marshals.
-Put down a frostwolf banner if someone has.
-Pop Bloodlust and focus full on Vann.

We did it twice in a row, and the second time our feral druid with damn good gear just tanked all. So, it is possible to have one tank, but play it safe and have at least 2!

correct me if im wrong, but couldnt you just use 2 tanks, have one go to the back left corner with drek, have the healers go to the front left corner and the second tank take the warmasters to the front right corner of the room so the healers are at a direct 90 degree angle with the tanks that way Drek loses the auras and dps can nuke him without dying from that whirlwind, and the healers/ranged dont get charged being >25 yards from the warmasters
Edit: even if losing the auras doesnt work we could still do the 1 tank tanking drek+4 with the healers on the opposite side of the room to avoid charge

I am not sure if this was a coincidence or not but I got this achievement by 1) Being queued to Wintergrasp 2) Joining Alterac Valley 3) Joining Wintergrasp when it pops up.

Anyone else experienced this?

You do not need a premade. If you can get at least 30 to rush the final GY, skipping the first two towers and killing the final boss right away, you are golden.

Much harder to do in Cataclysm than it was in middle/late Wrath. At least at this gear level with random groups. You have to kill Vanndar with all 4 Marshals up.

Does anybody have any reports of doing this achievement in Cataclysm? From what I see it's doable with 5 geared PvE tanks and a few healers, Vann has around 20M health with Bal and 4 Towers up.

Doable with almost a full premade group. We had 3 tanks - two grab adds, have the most geared tank grab vann/drek and rotate defensive CDs. Healers have to pretty much spam heal here; with some well pve geared DPS the boss should die within one heroism/bloodlust. You will likely lose a lot of people in the process due to whirlwind, tanks running out of cooldowns, other faction getting in the way - first attempt we wiped at about 500k, second attempt we got it with about 10 people left alive.

Just did this with the following setup

5 groups of 5 queuing specific Alterac Valley + 15 pugs
3 tanks (1 Protection Paladin, 2 Protection Warriors) - Each tanking 2 mobs + whoever gets the most threat on dogs
3 Holy paladins each focused on healing 1 tank, a variety of other healers helping
Divine Guardian+Rallying Cry+Alliance Battle Standard+Heroism+Aura Mastery at the very start of the pull, this is when the tanks are positioning their designated mobs & people can get 1-shot by whirlwind, etc. Flasks and potions also help dramatically.

If he doesn't die within a Heroism time-frame or there are Horde defending you may be in trouble.

Upon the release of the expansion Cataclysm the aura given from each Warmaster / Marshals was buffed, instead of giving 25% more dmg and HP, it now gives 40% more dmg and 30% more HP.

The auras gives total 160% increase dmg. ( Lucky Alliance, Drek'Thars enrage also got nerfed but I duno when, Instead of giving 167% Damage done AND 60% attack speed, it is now giving 60% attack speed only )

To do this I agree with the other peoples commenting this achiv, that you need a premade with 2-3 tanks, maybe 5-8 healers and !@#$loads of DPS. 1. By pulling the boss I suggest that you have your tank tanking drek in the mid of the room, and 2 marshals/warmasters to the left of the room and the 2 others right. To avoid melee DPS'ers getting hit by whirlwind and cleave.

2. When tanks got their targets use https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=80353. Tank adds by the very far corner in the left and right side of the room, then I do not think they can charge the ranged opposite of the room.

3. I know this achiv has been done different ways, one way is to nuke the boss asap your raid enter the boss room, other is to kill Adds to remove the aura buff. But my opinion would be to nuke the boss. But after the 5.4.7 buff it is quite intense, and you cannot outgear the bosses with PvE gear due to downscaling.

A new edit from patch 5.4.7. Vanndar and Drek'thar along with the Marshals and Warmasters has been buffed in the latest patch. Damage and health increased! With 4 bunkers/towers up the bosses have 175M hp and are almost unkillable. Drek + Van cant be "dps tanked" anymore. Decent tanks are needed along with healers to defeat them since the buff!

From my own exp Ive only killed Drek with max of 1 tower, wiped on 2 towers up. Imagine with 3 or 4 towers/bunkers up. However this is a very good change, a step in the right direction.

Very doable with a good preform group. I got into a group using openraid, and the leader had us queue as a group of 30 (then another to get other people in).
I think we had 5-6 tanks and 7-9 healers. We made the run south, had some lagging behind a bit but we got to Drek, had pre-assigned people on RH and FWGY.

We had one accidental pre-pull that got a few killed, but the rest recovered and killed him with 2 minutes to spare on the 6 minute clock.
So, get a big group, assign healers and tanks and CC accordingly, be PvE geared (preferably), go in together, blow hero or timewarp and blast him down, with (mostly) raid geared people nailing out awesome dps and hps, we cut through Drek like he was warm butter. I honestly never thought it would go so well.
