This achievement has been earned, probably multiple times, but I just came across it on the warrior Kungen on Magtherridon realm. Who also has 40,000 buffed HP in raid tanking.

Interesting to note on this, in our group we had a swap mid way through the raid instance, and one of the 10 had not been there for all bosses yet upon killing KT he also got the achievement along with the rest of the raid that had survived death. Used 2 healers(priest/druid) for all encounters up to Saph and KT where we had a moonkin go respec restoration for more assurance.

Managed to get this the other day - one raid lockout means the week lockout, but you're fully able to return multiple days to complete the achievement if you're unable to do so in one sitting.

When going for the achievement do not get complacent. Today we were well on the way with no deaths up to Sapphiron when a mage blinked into cleave around 25%.

Despite the boredom it might inspire in your healers bringing 3 the entire run does virtually remove the possibility of death.

Just need 10 competent people that have done the instance before. This was the first clear we went for the Undying achievement and we got it in both 10-man groups we ran (macabre). Hardest fights on keeping everyone alive was probably KT (Frostbolts), Sapphiron, and Heigan. Thaddius is pretty easy as long as their is no lag.

You can get this Achievement if you enter naxx and you haven't cleared all the wings by yourself.
If the raid didnt wipe* on any of the wings and dont wipe* afterwards you can get the AC by just killing a few bosses.

Wipe here means a death on a boss

Important Note:

If you wipe at the first boss and don't get saved, you can just go outside the instance, disband your group and have someone else(instead of the current raid leader) regroup the raid. This way you get a "soft" reset and this achievement is still doable.

Done on EU-Kor'gall 20-12-2008 with this method

Honestly, best way to do this achievement is to not think about it. We got halfway through Naxx when finally someone spoke up about it... of course we tried not to die (with success!), but the undue pressure can easily make people do really stupid things. Suggestion to RLs is: Keep everyone calm and focused on their normal jobs. You'll get the achievement without worry if you keep things in line. Good Luck!

My guild did this last night and I must say it can be really nerve wracking. Especially when you're finally on Kel and the melee get ice blocked and vent lights up as everyone yells "heal melee...heal melee....HEAL MELEE." Good times. One of our guys had to sit out for our 10 man Malygos after cause he said he was shaking haha.

You can also do some of the achievements along with this one such as the Safety Dance (duh), Make Quick Werk of Him, Shocking, etc. I wouldn't suggest trying the Four Horsemen one where you kill them all at the same time though :o.

Definitely a very stressful achievement to go for, and the stress gets worse the further you get in, but man it feels great when you actually get it done :) Just focus on survival over anything else!

Did this tonight - yes very stressful achievement. All was good up until KT where we had the worst possible luck. Our MT got ice blocked and we survived that. Then our OT bug tank got blocked at 3% and he died.

Here's the important part: OT was a Death Knight. When he died, he turned into a ghoul. As long as the boss dies before the ghoul does, it counts.

Our guild actually managed to do this last night and I concur that one of the best ways how to do this is NOT to think about it at all - that is unless you want the achievement badly.

I was the only one who tracked this during our raid and it was so stressful. I didn't plan to mention about it at all but our shaman wanted to try the 100 club achievement on Saphi so I was forced to open my mouth during that point "We are two kills away from this"... And the instant people started to stress about it: Saphi wasn't that bad (except our fury warrior almost cleaved himself to death) but KT was totally nerve-wrecking.

As soon as ANYONE dies during a boss fight, your raid ID is marked as "had a death." It doesn't matter if you wipe, leash the boss, w/e, that raid ID is gone for Undying.

The only two ways out of this are (1) wait for reset (to get a new ID) or if you're not saved, reform the raid as suggested above (to get a new ID).

A lot of people have been saying that the check for deaths only happens once a boss is dead, so that you can brez people during an encounter and still get credit for the achivement. I can confirm that this is false and if you have a single death at any point during any boss fight, you will forfeit the achievement.

Interesting tidbit:

A guild group was doing Naxx 8 man (for Dedicated Few), and when they got to 4HM called me (MM hunter) and a disc priest in to help, since they had no deaths up to that point and wanted to keep it going. When 4HM went off easy, they decided to keep the two of us in for saph and kel. We killed both w/o deaths, and all 10 of us got the achievement. We only expected the original eight to get it.

I think it must be something about how many people total were on that raid ID. It was only the 10 of us. Not sure really, it could also be a bug...

Edit: Now that I read the criteria above, it says only "Kel'Thuzad slain". Perhaps this is intended behavior in that case? As long as your raid ID has zero deaths on any boss fight, regardless of people in the raid at the time, you get the achievement?

Dying to polarity shifts after Thaddius dies does not ruin the chance of getting this achievement. But, I wouldn't suggest killing other players based on the assumption of this statement. Things change and maybe we got lucky.

I highly recommend tanks just play it safe...
Grand Widow: Kill the adds to dispell the enrage
Maexxna: Use an ironshield pot before the enrage, and consumable up

Grobbulus: Do not entrap yourself in the poison clouds when you go to drop it
Gluth: Get experienced kiters, if they need help, send help back there. [Focus them to see how many stacks they have for getting hit
Thaddius: Completley easy, Go easy on DPS for the adds so you don't pull aggro on the first tank throw, and the rest is either, do you have smart people or stupid people. DC'ing is rare, and people usually alt f4 to use this as an excuse.

Gothik: Don't pull aggro on adds
Four horsemen: Get experienced players to do the back

Noth: Don't pull aggro on adds
Heigan: Make sure you can dance, dispell diseases, DO NOT Standin the poison cloud when running back up after dancing.

Sapphiron: Pretty easy with 3 healers, Don't get cleaved, Decurse, stay out of blizzard
KELTHUZAD: DO NOT USE A SECOND TANK TO TANK THE ADDS, play it safe and have 1 tank pick them up and have the other tank DPS, If you made it this far I'm pretty sure you wouldn't wnat the tank dying from an ice block, THE MT CANNOT BE ICEBLOCKED=Safe.... Stay out of void zones, don't pull aggro on abominations, heal frost tombes.

Today in Naxxramas Normal.
All bosses downed without any deaths at the bosses. We had Two people that died on trash, not near the bosses at all. And during Guth fight we had one D/C, but the person did not die.
We did NOT get the achvement. All members where in the instance the whole time and no combat ress or anything like that. We believe that the mages "mirror images" deaths counts as deaths.

Our guild got this achievement last night. We almost had this achievement about a month ago, but someone decided to run around the room of Gothik the Harvester and started the event before we had anyone on the undead side. It wasn’t a server first, but it was a horde first for our server. Luckily for me being a spriest, I was iceblocked 2 times on kel and used Dispersion though them.

Got 1 of the 2 healers d/c on the 4horsemens, down thanks to retpal that switch to heal and 2 Lay of hands.

Failed on Kel'Thuzad at about 20% since our healers were'nt reactive enought on f*cking Ice block :/

No need to be sorry, English isn't everyone's language. As for your question, as long as no one died during boss fights before KTZ, everyone who is there will get the title/achievement when KTZ dies without a player death. You don't have to be there for every boss in the raid :0.

Is it suggested to use 2 healers or 3? I can see either one... 2 healers means more dps and less time a boss event can kill you. But 3 healers means more safety. For KT and Saph, I plan on using 3 healers.... but how about the rest? Any suggestions?

We got this last night using 3 healers through the entire instance. We had a melee heavy group, so we also used two tanks for KT's adds (me being one of them) to avoid Frost Blast chains.. I got Frost Blasted after a Guardian was fairly huge, and barely lived through it, if one tank had had both adds it would have killed him and the achievement.

We also had a healer get himself killed by showering in the poison cloud after Grobb died, proceeded to berate him on vent for the rest of the run, and then surprisingly still got the achievement at the end. My best guess is that this is because his poison clouds are considered a unique mob (The combat log lists the damage as coming from 'Grobbulus Cloud's Poison,' not 'Grobbulus' Cloud Poison'), as opposed to something like Flamestrike or Consecrate, and once he died they were just considered trash mobs.

A few tips that I hope makes this achievement a little easier:

Disconnected players can't be healed. However, they can be targetted with Guardian Spirit.

If someone disconnects on Thaddius...simply move the boss away from the disconnected player. If someone normally fails on the jumps give them slow fall. If they do fail the jump, they can still run up one of the ramps and wait at the edge of the platform where the boss is. When they have the correct debuff they can rejoin the fight.

On Gluth, make sure that everyone uses a health pot straight after Decimate. Also, don't use Commanding Shout or Blood Pact on this fight. If either of those fade due to range/time as he does Decimate, you will die.

If you just know that someone is going to fail on Heigen...make them sit the fight out. It can easily be done with less than 10 people, and everyone still gets the achievement.

Got this today on our first try, we were actually just doing "The dedicated few" but ended up doing both, was one epic raid. gl to anyone trying. ScreenShot

Raid set up was
1 tank, prot war
2dps wars. 1 which could OT when needed
1 ene shammy, mage, SP
1pala, priest healing.

On 4H we took in one extra member for that fight only a ele shammy.

Got this a couple of days ago.

Raid make up was:

1 Prot Pally, 1 Tank DK
2 Holy Priests
1 DPS Warrior, 1 Feral Druid, 1 Enhancement Shaman, 1 Rogue, 1 Ret Pally
1 Boomkin Druid

On Heigan, the Shaman stayed out of the room due to bad latency and normally dying on the dance.
On Kel'thuzad the Shaman respec'd to Elemental and the Feral Druid spec'd to Resto to minimise the number of melee. The Tank DK stayed off to the side and waited for the adds.

We had a fright on Maexxna when the Pally almost died due to a poor timed enrage/web wrap. Other than that it was smooth sailing. We also knocked out "Shocking" too, on Thaddius.

Happy hunting to those trying to get the achievement.

It's a valid question because you can reset some fights in naxx if you feel that you failed, so that makes you wonder if you can just wipe if someone fails and not count as a boss kill.

The guy was asking that if dieing on a boss (on purpose) negates you from getting an achievement where you are not allowed to die while fighting any bosses. Seems like a candidate for down rating to me.

I can safely, and completly honest say, that Frogger event after Patchwerk, DOESNT COUNT to the achievement. (Undying or Immortal) Yesterday we had 1 death there, and we still got achievement.

We had three deaths last week in a single fight (Heigan - because of latency - we have a bunch of people out of the country). We plan on 6-7 man this next week for more safety. But I was wondering if we could have a mage drop a portal, and have the 3 ranged dps who fail at dancing going through the portal right before phase-2 dance starts? We could even imagine they have a Warlock summon in stand-by to summon them back in the room before Heigan.
Or is it just safer to 6-7man this?

Little notes about failing (or almost failing)

Grobbulus: Dying to a cloud after he dies does not fail it. (Many sources confirm this, too lazy to find them)

Razuvious: Dying to the Students after Razuvious goes down does not fail it. (Had our retadin judge martyr on them with the damage debuff and kill himself with a 100k self damage)

Not sure if anyone's already posted about this, but my guild just went to its third Undying and started at Razuvious. Due to the weirdness with the obedience crystals, one of our MC people couldn't get control of his add for the second time, and Raz ran over and one-shotted a shadowpriest. For a few seconds we resigned ourselves to failure, but then someone remembered- you don't get a raid ID until after you kill a boss. We ran out, disbanded and reset the instance for good measure, and sure enough came back after the "mulligan" and got the title.

TL;DR- if someone dies on the first boss, run out and reset, you don't have a raid ID yet and can still get the achievement.

I got this achievement this evening and figured I'd post a few things that may make life easier or less stressful.

Do the wing that you think someone is most likely to die on first. That way, you'll know how well off you are if you're going specifically for the achievement.

Encourage the ret pallies to not use Seal of the Martyr on Sapphiron... it will help with the healer's stress level.

Have the pallies save their Lay on Hands for an iceblocked healer on KT. It helps out a great deal.

Warlock doomguards are a great DPS boost for fights that you'd like to get over a bit quicker.

Pretty melee heavy, but with rangecheck (/range) things went pretty smoothly in terms of melees not getting chain frost blasted. My advice would be to relax during boss battles as to not screw up, and bring 3 healers and (ideally) more casters and/or hybrids.

Confirmed that killing any of the 4 horsemen will end all checks for undying on that fight. We just had a healer die to Blaumex after we killed Thane, but before Baron bit the dust.

Having heard rumors about this sort of thing, we pressed on anyway.

Vent erupted, and guild chat was spammed with much gibberish upon downing KT. (In other words, yes, we did get it.)

it doesn't matter if a random dude joins in a raid before KT. If there was no deaths before and if there's still no deaths at KT this same dude will get the achievement.

I confirm the battle res doesn't work at all on every boss, so be aware of it!

Just did this tonight (Shandris US). I completely agree that it can be very tense and nerve-wracking, but it all comes out in the end. The closest my group got to dying was when our hunter on the adds on Gluth got to below 1% health, then a rogue stepped in and saved the hunter.

This is now puggagble. yesterday me and buddy started a pug up for this. We were doing great until i think the 3rd air phase on Saph. We all got behind the ice blocks. But the shaman was like a .00001 of an inch out of it and died from the blast. Anked and we dowend him same fight.
Very nerve racking indeed and streesfull especially on the DDR during a pug. We had an OT that never tanked it before and still got that far. Were goign to give it another go next week. Wish us luck!

My guild clears naxx with ease now, even just using 1 tank and 1 healer. We were on one of our clears and we were just outside heigan's room and someone said on vent that this is an undying run so nobody mess up. He was joking but we said lets go for it then, for a laugh. Soon as we got into heigan a rogue died. We tank him on one corner of the platform instead of having the tank and melee dps dance around during phase 1. The aforementioned rogue had decided to stand BEHIND heigan >.>

Just did this achievement tonight in a PuG, and it was without a doubt the most stressful KT fight. We were very melee heavy (I was the only ranged dps and doubled as a third healer) but luckily we had a fantastic group of mature people, and a RL who constantly reminded us to "focus!". There was a heart racing moment when two of our dps got ice blocked at Saph's head and tail, and we were sure that someone would get hit by the aoe. Thank Blizz for speed potions and quick reflexes xD

My advice to anyone attempting this is to stay calm, and play boss fights safe (no zerg tactic on gothik) and make sure that you have experienced players doing the risky jobs (such as kiting on Gluth, and MCing). Thankfully with the duelspec you can have a dps that can double as a healer for the more riskier fights, but if there're any doubts beforehand, go with 3 healers. (I was kiting and felt more secure as resto so i went ahead and changed specs)

Most of all, don't put too much pressure on each other. It's a great achievement to have but it's not the end of the world if someone dies. There's always the next week ;) (plus people panic more and make bad moves when they're under stress)

Or do you have to kill ALL the bosses, because the achievement here says "Criteria: Kel'thuzad slain."

Make sure you kill KT as the last boss. If you don't and you decide to kill KT first, the achievement will bug and you won't get it even if you've had no deaths.

It is worth noting that, now that raids can teleport to Sapphiron's lair without killing all of the bosses and this achievement's only criteria is Kel'thuzad slain, all you have to do for this achievement is Sapph and Kel, you can skip ALL of the other bosses.

Just did this last night... teleporting to Saph/KT's room and killing them first will not grant you the achievement. All bosses in the instance have to be killed. The achievement is not bugged, the bosses can be killed in any order (including Saph/KT first) and the achievement will be granted.

I should also mention that with high levels of gear, this achievement becomes far more trivial, as certain fights can have phases avoided. We were able to kill Gluth without a decimate, Heigan without having to do the dance, and Noth without a teleport. I still wouldn't call the achievement easy, as it does still require coordination and fight knowledge to keep everyone up, but at current gear levels, this is easily pugged, something I see happen several times weekly on Blackrock-US.

Just adding another confirmation that you cannot just smash KT/Sapph and get the achievement. Did this last night on the newest alt. 8-manned it with 2 tanks, 2 healers, rest dps in 2 hours and 45 minutes. With Icecrown Citadel/Ruby Sanctum out, while the potential for one-shots still exist, several of the more annoying mechanics can be avoided completely, while others can be minimized. For example:

- no phase 2 on Heigan (the fast dance)

- no decimates on Gluth

- only 3 polarity shifts on Thaddius

- only 1 air phase on Sapphiron

- 4 horsemen all but trivialized with health pools as they are, therefore avoiding complications with back tanks and Sir Zeliek's Holy Wrath

- Minimal Frost Tombs/Void Zones on Kel'thuzad

An Undying run can still be ruined by the potential one-shot, but now those opportunities will come around less often. Starting with Razuvious or Sapphiron (and using the tricks mentioned above in case of a death), one can pug this with much more ease than before.

I would also recommend a quality Holy Priest, as Guardian Spirit can be a life-saver (literally) when RNG isn't in your favor. If you have access to a Rogue and/or Hunter, you will certainly benefit from Tricks/Misdirect as well since threat may be a problem if your DPS is this well-geared.

Finally, here's the group make-up I used when getting this achievement (pugged with no vent)

MT: Prot Warrior (DPS offspec)
OT: Prot Paladin
DPS: Arcane Mage
DPS: Arcane Mage
DPS: Ret Paladin
DPS: Ret Paladin
DPS: Marksman Hunter

Not the ideal make-up, but then again the ideal make-up is hardly necessary.

Got this with my guild before it disbanded. It was funny than serious in most cases (Ie frogger) but when we finnaly got it i felt more better than when i got kingslayer, its that awsome. But ive been hearing rumor about this achievement and title getting removed in cata...can anyone conform this?'

Has become a FoS in 4.0.3. Not sure if it is obtainable anymore.

I was speaking to a GM over something else and asked him about this, unfortunately I forgot to screencap it but he said something among these lines:
"Due to how easy that achievment would have been to obtain in cataclysm it has been removed"
I spoke to another GM that said it hadn't been, but she seemed to be guessing more than knowing.

To be honest, the "Nightfall" title is not listed but still obtainable... I did an undying run today, in Naxxramas and none of us were awarded with the title. However, as for the undying in Ulduar, that is completely up in the air. I hope this has helped. Cheers.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by:

the title is listed here on Wowhead and the achievement (The Twilight Zone (10 Player)) is still listed in the obtainable achievements.

As for why you did not receive "the Undying" title, it is because Blizzard changed the achievement so that it is no longer obtainable and converted it into a Feat of Strength. No such changes have yet been made to the achievements associated with "of the Nightfall" or "Twilight Vanquisher", so they are still obtainable. However, it appears that the achievement associated with the "Champion of Ulduar" title has been removed/converted to a Feat of Strength, and reports say that achievement appears to have become unobtainable in the same way as The Undying.

Just for those people who are wondering about if this is still avail to lvl 80 toons etc i asked a GM and this is what he had to say (in short):

: So these achievements/titles (both Immortal and Undying) were removed with the release of Cataclysm.
: so they are 100% unobtainable now?
: Any remaining achievements players had were converted to Feats of Strength.
: Yes, 100% unobtainable
