As of February 2007, the debuff caused the green "poison" cloud debuff, but it dealt no damage to my character, who had no armor on, although she did have 452 armor from "ice armor". I repeatedly picked and ate the mushroom and never received any damage.

In case there are new people that are not well traveled. Valorwind Lake is located within the Eastern Kingdom's The Hinterlands.

The location coordinates are 40,59. But should you also lack the addon; use this wowhead map location:

Okay, curriosity got the better of me. I had to eat one and see what it'd do to my horse. It turned me and my skull horse green; poison effect. Makes me wonder now if I just go buy a bottle of poison somewhere if it'd do the same??? Used to play FFXI and we would all gather in Juno and drink poison like some cult till we littlered the city streets with our dead corpses so much no one could walk to AH. Good memories. Anyway, this "poison" mushroom didn't seem to hurt me at all. Or my undead horse, course he's undead so how could I tell???

Oh, and the green effect doesn't last very long. Might be worth a few giggles in the right setting.

Well I Got it in the lake,
dont eat means dont eat it cause if you eat it while you turn it in
you'll lose it = which means you need to go back lol
i ve done it and well i got #$%^ed =P
it only gives you a mushroom poison. last 30 seconds..
doesnt do damage.. so yeah.

Keep in mind not to eat it for turning in the noggenfogger quest.... I thought you were sopose to eat it and i ate it when i was at tanaris and i was sopose to bring it to complete the quest.

As long this item is a quest item for Sprinkle's Secret Ingredient , you should note that if you eat Violet Tragan you will lost the quest item and you need to pick it up again so you be able turn back the quest.

And even if you did.. Considering you can only carry one at the time.. would you really wanna go back and forth for every duel versus a rogue?.. No, dont think so..
And not be able to use the noggenfogger because you never finish the quest..?

Hmm... I ate one and it put a "Poison Mushroom" debuff on me, and I went green, but no dmg from it.

I've been all over where the map shows it in Swamp of Sorrows just a few steps southwest of Stonard and didn't see any Violet Tragan. You must only be able to find it in the Hinterlands as the quest suggests.

For those of you who read the tooltip and are as weak minded as I am, it's something like 8 nature damage every 5 seconds for 30 seconds.

Violet Tragans are at the bottom of the Valorwind Lake in Hinterlands.

swim underneath the lake and right click the mushooms. they are all over the lake on the bottom 38,60

The mushrooms grow in the small lake, south east of "Quel Lodge".

I don't know if there are any hidden mechanics with it or what, but I ate it as a 48 mage. I got a 30 sec poison debuff that did zero damage to me. Didn't even register on my combat log.
