As already stated, the value of this Glyph is severely diminished as player Health increases dramatically in Cataclysm thus decreasing overhealing.

It might even make WoG worse, as it cuts the emergency part of this instant spell by 50%.

I don't like it, and I certainly wont be using it.

To be worth picking up, the sum of the initial heal and the HoT should be greater than a normal WoG heal.

What's great about people saying that they like this and will use it or don't like it and won't is that it simply proves that the new Major Glyph system works, at least in this instance.

The point of a major glyph is not to be a flat up dps/heal/whatever increase. That's what Primes are for. The point of Major Glyphs is to customize how you play, and this does exactly that. Some people will want to use WoG as an emergency heal, so won't use this glyph. Some will want to use it to negate incoming damage and focus on other things, so will be using this glyph.

It comes down to playstyle, and fits the new glyph model perfectly.

I was a little confused by the posts here on whether or not the increase was there and if it was worth it at all. I decided to do 20 WoG's— 10 without the glyph, 10 with. I came across a bit of information that was answered here but at the same time could be useful to restate. Here's the best I could do for information.

Word of Glory, both the heal and the HoT effect can crit.
The HoT effect last 6 seconds, performing 1 heal every 2 seconds.
The HoT ticks for 3 equal amounts, varying at most by 1 HP. (Example: 2208 2208 2209)
Once the HoT is placed on a player, the HoT amount doesn't adjust.
Example: If you WoG heal for 6700, wait 1 HoT tick for 2208, then Avenging Wrath, the last 2 HoT's don't get the 20% bonus. (Prior +Healing perks do take effect)

Without Glyph of the Long Word

Minimum: 12,837
Average: 13,080.9
Maximum: 13,530

With Glyph of the Long Word

Minimum: 13,061
Average: 13,273.4
Maximum: 13,442

Overall I can say that there is a VERY minor increase in healing that I could notice. If you're battling between getting something like Glyph of Not-Really-Needed and this, you may as well get your huge +1~2% WoG healing buff and accept the HoT instead of the instant heals. Next time you survive a boss hit with 500 HP, you know what glyph to thank ;).

***Crits were excluded from both the heal and HoT crits to keep the data somewhat accurate. 20 WoG's isn't going to be an amazing source to go by, but I do think it is fair game to say the minimum did go up some. Finally, I did have 0 buffs applied to me to keep the numbers small and simple ^^.

Currently, this glyph:

* Does not work with Critical Heals- If your normal WoGs are 7k with the glyph, and you crit for 10k, you will still get only 3 ticks for 2300
* Does not scale with Haste at all. Even under extreme haste conditions (i.e. Lust/Hero.TWarp, Haste food, Haste potion), you still only get 3 ticks.
* Does not work with Selfless Healer (Glyph ticks do not heal for 50% more)
* Does not work with Guarded by the Light (Glyph ticks do not heal for 10% more, Overheal from ticks do not give absorb shield)
* Does not proc Illuminated Healing (Mastery).

* Does have a chance for each tick to be a crit
* Does proc trinkets/effects that are based on Healing (Jar of Ancient Remedies, etc)

As of patch 4.2, this glyph is actually a decrease to our healing done. Our mastery can now stack instead of being overwritten by consecutive heals, meaning that lowering the direct heal portion of WoG also decreases the amount of the master shield placed on the target. Also, given that the HoT (especially the first tick) may still end up being overhealing while the shield will be fully used as long as the target is taking damage, this glyph is entirely worthless.

In Mists of Pandaria this glyph has changed. The Cata talent, Protector of the Innocent has been moved into this glyph for MoP.

OLD: Glyph of the Long Word
Your Word of Glory heals for 50% less up front, but provides an additional 50% healing over 6 sec.

NEW: Glyph of Protector of the Innocent
When you use Word of Glory to heal another target, it also heals you for 20% of the amount.
