Dropped tonight from a Ethereum Overlord in Netherstorm while farming some Ethereum Prison Keys.

I am a shaman myself, but it's going straight to the AH.
Stat's are pretty weak imo, missing some stamina. Could be usefull for the non raiding shamans/paladin's tho!

what is nice about it is that it is the ONLY amulet with both strength and +damage/healing, thus making it a special hybrid necklace. There's no green necklace, no blue necklace and no epic necklace with both these 2 stats on them at the same time, except for this one.

The amount of strength is not weak either, a good +23 and a moderate amount of +damage.

Unfortunately this epic is not in demand, and will not sell for much.

As a Shaman, the only time I can think of wanting this epic necklace is when I have insanely good gear to support a hybrid build. Shaman itemization simply does not allow for good hybrid specs. Even with the best gear you could find, you would be doing much better specializing.

As for Paladins, I'm not too sure; I guess some (Retribution Paladins, maybe?) would value spell damage and strength as stats that go hand in hand. Speaking of which, Paladin itemization has these sorts of stats... soo.... currently up on AH for 400g b/o.

I'm surprised no one has suggested a feral hybrid use for this neckpiece. A solid chunk of strength adds quite a bit of attack power, and 17 intellect is nothing to be discounted either. Add that with the damage / healing and it comes to jack of all trades, master of none sort of deal.

Ever since 2.3 changed Crusader Strike to no longer scale from spelldamage, this item is absolutely useless for a ret paladin. Spelldamage just isn't worth itemizing. Sure, a paladin still has to cast his judgements that scale from SD (to get mana back from Sanctified Judgement), but all in all, a paladin would lose more from spelldamage than they would gain.

It might be different for an enh shaman, but I'd still be inclined to think that for them, this item still fails.

Do not be mistaken. This is not a good piece for any class that truly wants to min/max their tanking/dps/healing.

Logically, the two classes that would jump to your mind when looking at this piece are enhancement shammies and ret pallies.

Enh shammies focus on stacking AP and crit. The extra int is nice, but not necessary. They get more SD than they need from their AP => SD talent. Basically, the only defining stat on this piece for them is 23 str, and surely they can find a better blue neck elsewhere with as much AP, and some crit instead of sub-par int and SD.

It is essentially the same for ret pallies - whilst they have no AP => SD talent, they also need it far less, as their two main sources of damage (Crusader Strike and Seal of Command/Blood) rely solely on AP and crit, and it has been shown time and time again that stacking AP and crit for these two sources of damage does far superior dps to stacking SD for the rest of their abilities. As such, like with shammies, the only significant stat on this neck for a ret pally is the str.

Basically, both classes can find better necks elsewhere. IMO, these days this neck is mainly a highlighter for people that either buy gold, or don't know enough about their class.

Whilst I hate to admit it, as up until now this necklace has proven to be a worthless pile of rubbish for just about every spec, when patch 3.0 arrives with the changes to prot paladins, this neck might actually prove to be a pretty nice option for a Threat/Solo neck. High strength and good spelldamage on one item should provide a good coefficient boost to the paladin's abilities.

Of course, it has zero stamina so is useless for serious boss tanking, but for those paladins who have one lying around or can pick it up cheap (it's possibly the cheapest of all the level 70 epic BOEs) it might actually prove to be a worthwhile investment, even if just for soloing.

I won this neck out of heroic Black Morass forever and a day ago, and its been sitting in my bank ever since. I was never able to sell it because the only thing that was really epic about it was how bad it was, and I couldn't bring myself to vendor it.

The only person who would like to buy it is actually Retribution paladin who is oriented on pure raid support, i.e. less crits and more AP and spell damage. Well, there are no such paladins at WoW 2.0.10, as they have no place in 10-men raids mostly, so it is quite hard to sell. :)

the guy who said this item sucks has obviously never heard of an enhancement shaman/retribution pally. 22 strength = 44 ap, with the damage and healing and intellect makes this a pretty damn good neck. sure it ain't no magtheridon loot, but you gotta start somewhere.

For all of you wondering who needs all of this... I'd say a Prot Paladin.
Int - mana and so on ^^

Strength, not so much for white damage, rather for the amount absorbed by the shield

spell dmg - prot pallys build their aggro with holy dmg.
If there are any questions about the last point, please consult the comments of ANY spell dmg sword
(comment 1 - "tank pally" / comment 2 - "oooh so little dps, not tank pally" / comment 3 - explanation how pally build aggro, accompanied by some insults^^)

Ok now, let's look at this logically.

-It's obviously for melee classes that also use mana.

-That's leaving two main classes

-Enhancement Shaman and Ret Pallies, possibly prot pallies (STR for increased block)

No, its not the ^&*!z or the pwnage lewtz but you have to start somewhere, I could see this being useful for some classes. That's all I have to say about it

This item is a great ret pally necklace for this reason: key ret pally stats are strength, spell dmg, intellect, and stamina, not necessarily in that order (depends on if you play melee heavy or spell heavy). This is great because it's the only necklace out there with strength, intellect, and spell damage. If you're looking to put together an epic ret set, besides this you'll have to go with either a full melee neck with just strength, agility, hit rating, etc or you'll have to go wiht a full caster neck with just intellect, spell dmg, and maybe +spell crit. Thus this is better suited for a ret pally.
