There are 3 different tailoring specializations. One deals with Shadowcloth, one deals with Primal Mooncloth, One deals with Spellcloth.

All tailors are able to create these just as you are able to create Mooncloth prior to the Expansion. But when you specialize in one of the 3 choices you will get 2 pieces of cloth every time you transmute instead of 1

If you're a Mage and don't want to fight this mob, simply create a Portal before transmuting Spellcloth. When you're done, click the portal, and voila.

So to make Shadowcloth, you have to fly to the back end of Shadowmoon Valley, ride past level 70 air elementals (if you can't fly yet), transmute at the Altar of Shadows, and go all the way back. To make Spellcloth, you have to go up to Netherstorm, and fight off an angry elemental each time.

To make Primal Mooncloth, you have to...um...go to Cenarion Refuge and use the Moonwell.

I can tell you I'll be charging Primal Mooncloth specialists up the yin-yang for my extra Primal Mooncloth.

I tried making one in the area 52 inn and logging out, since my tailor is only level 60.. the mana wraith was NOT tricked. As soon as I logged back in 15 minutes later... he spawned and killed me. :(

Angered Nether-wraith https://www.wowhead.com/cata/npc=17870 hits with arcane bolts around 650 dmg, so it is considerable damage. Usually i just Frost Nova him and after every Arcane Bolt i recast Mana Shield and just run out of town. He stop following after 10 seconds or so.

But as i recently got few Arcanoweave and Soulcloth set items (arcane resistance), will try to kill him next time. After all, he have only 11k health.

I would recommend depending on build and spec for mages, to spellsteal the scaleskin buff(sheep and steal) from the Scaleskin flayers. It reduces their attack damage by 50% on the first magical hit, it's my experiance that the mob will open up with either a normal arcane attack, or it's large shadow attack(2k+).

Don't forget dampen magic.

Any class with silence should be able to take these guys down at lvl 70 without any problems. Just make sure you got cooldowns ready and burn them all and do as much dps as possible - time your silence for his Shadow Blast ability and you should win easily.

I usually make my spellcloths near bridges in Netherstorm. This way I can move behind the 'walls' when ever he starts casting arcane missiles or it's shadow spell. I find the mob easy to kill by doing this. - I'm a arcane/frost mage :) And I think everyone should always kill it, for the few motes :p

Before making the spellcloth, make sure to:
1. Equip arcane resist and shadow resist gear.
2. Cast any magic resist buffs you have on yourself (example: mage armor + dampen magic for mages).

The level 70 angered netherwraith (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/npc=17870) that spawns immediately after you create the spellcloth casts arcane missiles that hurt.

Occasionally (usually when it's at around 20% life), it will also cast shadow bolt. This isn't an instant cast and takes it a while to charge, so if you have any spell-interrupting skills (i.e. Dragon's Breath), use them when you see it charging shadow bolt. This spell hits like a truck, so try not to let it finish casting if you can.

It's also immune to all arcane spells, so counterspell is no good against it.

If you're a protection warrior (like myself) or you simply don't want to fight this mob, just make your Spellcloth at The Stormspire. The guards WILL help you kill it. But don't expect to loot it afterward, as the guards will kill it much faster than you can do enough damage to it to be able to loot it.

I created mine in Stormspire, next to the flightpath, and the Nexus-Guard helped me kill the spawn. Someone mentioned that you couldn't make it in Stormspire, but I did so maybe something changed. The Nexus-Guard did not hurt me at all. Though I am maxed at "friendly" with The Consortium.

I made one of these today outside Area 52, and was confronted by two Netherwraths, I can handle one solo, but these two knocked me out. There was nobody else around crafting, not sure if it was a glitch or something new with the patch... I hope not.

Much easier for a warlock.. Deathcoil, fear, dot it up. Break your own fear with a shadow bolt.. drain life twice and it's dead =)

Just hit 350 tailoring, I'm going for the frozen shadoweave but this is an easy 60g and a skillup to make every four days.

the Easiest way to make the cloth and get the motes - go to the bank guy in Area52.Make the spellcloth and if u have any aoe spells, just hit each Wraith once, LOTS of guards will come and kill em you just go back and loot. :)

Creating Mooncloth gives you a nice +health/mana per 5 second buff: https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=31462 and, of course, the Mooncloth.

Angered Nether-wraith is nerfed in terms of damage. I posted 3 month ago, that average damage of each arcane bolt hits you for 650, but now it's 380-500. So it's easier to kill it.

Well for a normal pve fire mage (10/48/3) this mob is quite easy to dealt with. The tactic to defeat it is quite simple. Put Dampen Magic on you as well as an Mage Armor. When the mob appear use multiple scorch to damage it, when u see that it goes to do arcane volley just counterspell it , then it will start hitting u for a weak (200-400) melee attack for 8 seconds. After u reach it on ~50% it will start casting the shadow explotion thingy , use your Dragon breath there and just make a fireball on it. Now the mob will propably be dead. Gz on your mote awards.

If you have an epic mount and started doing Netherwing quest series in Netherwing Ledge in Shadowmoon valley, then you will notice that there is a high drop rate for mote of mana. So to realise this you need to have an epic mount + you must complete some quest series to get some rep with Netherwing + you need to be herbalist with skill 370 @ least.
With my char I collect like 2 or 3 Primal Mana while collecting herbs for quest.

p.s.: for me Mote of Fire is harder to collect...:( lower drop rate and that fire elementals...brrrr..

If you do 30% dmg to these then pull them to the guards you still get credit for the kill ( so you can loot the motes )

So bring em down to < 70% and run to a couple guards.

Created spellcloth the other day, there is no cool down, and if you do it near Area 52 the guards DO help. Not a lot, but sometimes they'll snare it which is useful, since it is a bit of a tough mob.

Great comments above. I'm a 72 shadow priest. Here's my question. Is spellcoth worth it? I It takes a lot to make. Imbued bolts of netherweave and lot of motes! Then, to use the cloth to make gear, more junk! Like 560 motes and other agents to make the Spellfire 3 piece set. Hours and hours of farming at my rate. I decided it wasn't worth it and tried to sell my cloth at the AH. Nothin. No sale for any price. Sigh.. I was really excited about this specialization but it seems like I should get over it and move on to Northerend tailoring asap. Any opinions? I guess it would be nice if I was leveling a new character and was able to provide the spellfire set as soon as they were ready for it but for me, I'll outgrow it before i can make it and can't sell the cloth. I look forward to any opinions on whether this cloth is worth making.

As a level 80 Shadow Priest I was able to make 6 Spellcloth for crafting a Spellfire Bag in Netherstorm. After reading the comments above, I went to a relatively well guarded area in Area 52, specifically the building where you buy the PVP armor and weapons for levels 70-85 (Legacy and Conquest quartermasters,etc). The door is guarded by two ogres outside (aka Area 52 Big Bruisers) and two goblins (aka Area 52 Bruisers) inside. I stood pretty much inside the building between the Area 52 Bruisers facing the door and casted Spellcloth. Each time I made a spellcloth, a wraith materialized. The bruisers instantly threw a net down on each wraith, and the ogres came in and smashed them in about three seconds each. All 6 wraiths did not materialize simultaneously but one did each time I casted Spellcloth. The wraiths did not interrupt my casting whatsoever, maybe because I was level 80 or maybe because the Bruisers had all their attention. I did not have to cast anything in retaliation. The Bruisers and Big Bruisers, in summary, completely overwhelmed each wraith each time I casted Spellcloth.

I'm assuming this means you can create as much spellcloth as you want, at least at Level 80.
When I level up my warlock, who is also a tailor, I'll attempt again at level 70 and see if it's the same story.

Its best to make spellcloth in the towns of netherstorm, that way a npc can kill the spawn. Also there is no more cooldown. :)

As of Patch 4.2(?) the Angered Nether-wraith doesn't seem to be lootable. At least not for me. My priest is making these in Area 52 and the guards are 1-shot-ing the Nether-Wraith and I can't loot. Kinda disappointing after farming all those mats just to make this stuff. I had my hopes up for looting a few motes.

All you have to do is hit them, then stand behind the wall in Area 52, then hit them, amd go behind the other sidfe. Eventually they only cast shadow blastor whatever, which has a 5sec cast and is easy to interrupt by stepping behind the wall again. Once they are both below 50%, have the gurds kill them and enjoy your motes.

I have done this 5 or 6 times now since getting the training. I always do some damage and last time I did a ton of damage...the mana creature has NEVER dropped a damn thing for me, he's not lootable.

Update: Party member and I just killed it...away from the NPC's...and he did drop 2 motes of mana and a fire mote...so looks to me like you have to do MOST of the dmg if he's gonna drop jack.

When you make the Spellcloth, an elemental attacks you. When you make Primal Mooncloth or Shadowcloth, you get a buff! What's up with that?

Just an update, which most of you have probably noticed by now:

The Elemental is easy as anything now. They scaled him back to one AND now the NPCs help out. I just make my spellcloth in front of two Bruisers inside Area 52 and the elemental it creamed in five seconds.

In other words: Trying to NOT kill him is a waste of a very good looting, since they did not nerf what he drops. (Multiple motes of fire and mana.)

NOTE: Be sure to do SOME damage; if you just sit back and watch the show - which you can do with 2 Bruisers wailing on him - you'll probably not get credit for the kill and find yourself unable to loot him.

Out of the 15 or so times i've made my spellcloth, i've only ever had one elemental spawn, hit him once with xi'ri's gift+arcane power+presence of mind+pyroblast to cement aggro, and let the Area 52 bruisers do the rest of the work. Get about 3 motes each of fire and mana when it's all said and done.

If you other people aren't able to do that because of rep or what not, either make a portal beforehand (if you're a mage) or bring a few other people with you to help out because those buggers hit hard and your life will be next to zero very very quickly.

Are they joking with this? Went to make my spellcloth knowing that 2 spawn, tried to fight them insead of porting. Wasn't even a contest. 2x elementals is straight rape, why would they do that? One hits hard enough.

Just a little tip, when creating spellcloth create it in a area with npc players they will attack the two elementals. All you miss out on is the drops.

Hi hi!

I've only been able to survive once out of eight times so far, and looted him twice. (We killed each other at the same time once.) He dropped six motes the first time (3 Fire, 3 Mana) and three the second (2 Fire, 1 Mana). I'm a level 70 Fire Mage, so I pack a punch, but THIS guy destroys me.

My advice? Take a pally with you when it's time to make a new cloth. Let the pally get the aggro, then beat its brains in. If you're like me and make a lot of stuff for the guild, you'll have no problems getting help.

Thank good i´m a mage :) I just make a portal before i make the spellcloth. Then you just have to click on the portal when you´ve made the spellcloth. That way you dont have to fight at all :)

1. Can only be created while in the zone Netherstorm.

2. Being specialized means that you will get 2 pieces back instead of one. The costs of the materials is the same as normally making one.

3. Whenever you make a Spellcloth a level 70 elemental will spawn next to you and begin to attack you. Those that are low levels, beware and prepare to run.

Stated elsewhere, but worth repeating... this does not share a cooldown with primal mooncloth, normal mooncloth, and shadowcloth. You also get a 1 hour buff each time you make one of these new cloths.

Instead of it giving you a buff like shadowcloth and primal mooncloth, it will spawn a mob that when killed and looted will give you back some of the mats. So far I have seen 2-3 motes of fire and 2-3 motes of mana. Better then getting a buff imo.

spellcloth does not give you a buff unlike the other 2, but its replaced by the motes dropped off of the mana wraith. primal mooncloth gives you 12 health and mana per 5 seconds for an hour, shadowcloth gives you 25 stam.

if you need to untrain its true that at the moment you must drop and relearn tailoring completly. currently though, petitions are being sent in to blizzard with the complaints of the many angry tailors out there, hopefully some future patch will fix it so we can respec.

I as a mage really hate that spawn, since counterspell has 30sec cooldown and it's hard to even time it correctly to block the arcane missiles. Yet, I've discovered a way to "block" the big shadow spell. Just make spellcloth inside or right outside Area 52 or any other place with similar walls. That way, when the thing starts casting that huge shadow spell, run to the other side of the wall, so the wraith can't see you. This has saved my life many times againts this spawn.

Ok, if you have the flight path in Netherstorm. And you don't want to die from the elemental after making the cloth.Stand right next to the flight path dude, open up the flight path window and keep your mouse arrow over the the next closest flight path which is Evergrove(i make mooncloth after so i never lose the spellcloth buff in case i did die) Start making the cloth and as soon as it is done making it(Make sure you have it on Auto Loot or you will be put in combat looting) click on the Evergrove town and fly away. If you do it quick enough you will not be in combat and can fly away before getting killed by the elementals who take .5 seconds or what not to spawn and is about to put a hurt on you.I did this as a level 55 lock btw.

Also,the elemental can be chain feared for those that can land the fears without it resisting. I wouldn't try it unless your close to 70 though.One resist could get you killed.

Please vote + to help low level tailors save up cloth before they are 70

I made one tonight and got TWO elementals. They raped me and would have killed me but I ran to the guards, who took them out, but I wasn't able to loot them as a result......

Perhaps. I can't imagine it was intentional. Earlier tonight I summoned 2 elementals as well, but since I was ready for a fight and specced to deal with crap like this, I managed to down em both. It was a hard fight, but I got mote of mana x4 and mote of fire x4 back. Definitely worth it. Good luck all

I got 2 elementals today, but unlike before, the guards in are in area 52(is it 52?) attacked them, before they never got involved when a elemental whooped my butt. So, maybe we get more spawns, but the guards helped me out(oger and goblins) so it wasnt so bad of a deal for those of us under 70.

I actually like the change a lot. First of all you get twice your primal mats back if you can kill both, which is great; today I got mote of mana x5 mote of fire x5. That's about 20g in refunded mats. Secondly its an actual challenge, and challenges are hard to come by outside of groups. I've always thought Blizzard needed to introduce more heroic-difficulty challenges and quests that don't involve grouping.

As for strategy, I don't know what to tell you. I have to imagine some classes have a really hard time of this. Here are some general pointers that should help you down 2... god help you if you spawn 4!

1. if you have stam gear/pvp gear, wear it. These guys do a ton of damage.

2. you can interrupt/counter spell their arcane bolt spell, which you'll have to do to one if you want to survive. It's not the same school as their nuke (shadow blast), and they can always melee you, but their strongest attack is the arcane bolt and you have to stop one of em from burning you down with it.

3. dampen magic helps. find a mage to buff you

4. banish works, but if you're a lock this fight shouldn't be hard anyway, not with fear and a pet

5. their shadow blast is like a 8 second cast or something. nuke em up until the last second and then interrupt it/bubble/ice block. There's plenty of time to run out of range if you're all out of other options

6. if you've got a pet, let it tank one while you dps the other.

7. be ready! fight it with full buffs, full health, and fresh cooldowns.

8. if all else fails, bring a friend.

Make your spellcloth at Area52.
The guards will help you a lot.
Specially the 2 big ogres at the entrance of some hut.
They can solo the 2 spawns easily, even though they start aggro'ing one at a time... Fear, stun, banish, etc. the other one.

But, beware...
If the ogres get the first hit, no motes will drop for you.
This just happened to me on my priest.
So, it might be an idea to have some instant small AoE dmg thingie available.
(Any suggestions anybody?)

On my mage it worked perfectly.
Just Frost Nova them... you'll draw first blood, but not so much the ogres can't grab aggro.
Single point the one the ogres arent attacking.
A bit of fire and a counterspell worked perfectly for me.

I spec in Shadoweave, but I made my first Spellcloth the other day. Two of them spawned as soon as the cloth was made (Both Level 70s). I had my Husband, who is a level 70 Warrior (Prot)escort me to Netherstorm (From Blade's Edge) and help me with whatever spawned. It was impossible. They killed me in no time (Level 65 Warlock), and they nearly killed him. He ran. We made the cloth right outside the gates of Area 51, so once we got in the gates, we were safe. It sucks though, I really wish we could've taken them down and gotten some mats back. A few more levels and I should be able to do it. I just wasn't prepared at all!

It was a rush though. Husband wants to come with me for sure in a couple of days when I make another one. Haha

The 2x angered nether-wraith spawn is a bug, it is intended to only spawn 1x. blizzard will fix this in the next patch.

The last 4 times iv'e made a spellcloth iv'e had a minimum of 2 spawns each time and as a resto shaman with only a few pieces of epic dps gear they spank me anywhere they want. And the guards at Area52 does $%^& against them. gotta say that I enjoy to die each time I make a spellcloth, gotta love thoose elementals

Wrath of Spellfire: adds fire / arcane damage, made for balance druids, Warlocks, and mages.
set bonus; +7% of your int as spell damage.
Shadow's Embrace: Adds Frost and Shadow damage, made for mages and Warlocks.
Set bonus; you're healed for 2% of ALL damage you cause.
Primal Mooncloth: Adds healing and mana/5sec, made for healers.
set bonus; 5% mana regen while casting

these sets require that you have the spec of the cloth needed, and as of patch 2.1 you can now change Tailor spec without re-learning Tailoring, for a 150g fee.

1: when you make the spellcloth make sure you do it in area 52 so that the guards can tank/dps the elemental that spawns.

2: learn how to make primal mooncloth and shadowcloth and then make it! people will trade you spellcloth for them!

Yay! Today's Patch says that now only ONE Elemental will spawn after making Spellcloth. Time to switch to Spellcloth now.. Heh

You can only create the spellcloth in Netherstorm. This is the way I do it:

1. Farm primal fire and mana
2. Make imbued bolt of netherweave
3. Go to Netherstorm
4. Walk into Area 52
5. Create spellcloth *right* next to any two "Area 52 Bruisers"
6. Tag the spellcloth spawn, wraith, elemental, thing
7. Sit back, grab a glass of lemonade, and let the guards do the rest

*I think you have to be at least friendly or honored with the Area 52 faction (Idk what its called) for the "Area 52 Bruisers" to help you with the spawn. But, I'm not entirely sure. All I know is that their names are green when I put my cursor over them and they help.

Worked just fine the very first time i went there so no need to be friendly with Area 52, neutral worked just fine.

Okay, I'm working on lvling my 66 mage and also just picked up tailoring (Jewelcrafting ftl).

I'm trying to plan my route for future raiding and I'm curious:

I love playing frost, been a long time since I played fire. I look at this set compared to the Frozen Shadoweave set and I can't help but feel like this is a more powerful and useful set.

Be honest, is there any real place for a Frost Mage in end game raiding? Or should I respec to fire and head towards this gear?

This is what you do for the spellcloth, go infront of the building that sells the arena gear in area 52, there are two guards there that will help you kill the spawns, make sure you hit the spawns first, and then let the guards finish them off......as a mage I either use fireblast or frost nova.......never died and always get the mats.

you have to be lvl 60 to specialize in a cloth type it will givee u a quest hope this helps some1

Make it right between the two Ogre's in the doorway to the arena vendor building. They will trap it and kill it for you.

Also, the cooldown is 4 days.

a much easier way to kill the elemental spawns when u create the spell cloth is to do it inside the town. he gets netted guards kill him fast just make sure u get a hit in so u can loot the corpse.

If your char has low hp or you really dont want to have a fight with a nasty burst damage elemental the best thing to do would be to craft your spellcloth in area 52 inside the actual bank where there are two A52 bruisers who will take the aggro off you when the elemental attacks.

When I was a lower lvl I remember that I used to let the guards kill it, but i missed out on the extra motes it drops.

If your gear isn't great and you want to kill Ame en peine du Néant colérique, just fight it while standing slightly to the left outside the Area 52 town gate. When it starts casting Déflagration d'ombre, at about 50-75% through (depending how fast you are), just run through the gate and LOS the cast around the corner. Rinse and repeat until it's dead.

Avoiding elemental as a hunter:
1) craft
2) feign death instantly
3) no elemental spawned

If I change specs from shadowcloth to spellcloth will I be able to make 2 or only 1? Does the quest to make 2 carry over?
