Don't panic if nothing happens when you arrive at destination point. Just wait a little and they will start to work.

The Gob Squad works pretty well if you just tag mobs one at a time, they will shoot the ones you tag. Try not to pull multiple groups, just work your way through one pull at a time, it goes pretty fast.

I had to abandon the quest and redo it. I think one of my gob squad guys died the first time. Soon as I got there the second time, they called out to Newt instantly. Try walking up with them instead of flying. Not sure if that triggered it or not the second time for me.

My friend and I had the same trouble with it not triggering at the gates, we just went and abandoned the quest and picked it up again, worked the second time.

I figured out a super easy way to do this quest. Basically wade in and get close to your necessary kills for the other quest that accompanies this when your about 20 shy go back to the quest givers area and mount your flying mount. Since the Gob squad are NPC's they dont have any problems scaling mountains fly low along the left cliff wall and they just climb up the mountains and follow you. Fly low along the side of the mountain to the gate. then close to the gate and you can plant them in front and have them set up the bomb with out touching one enemy. After they blow the door get the rest of your kills for the pre-quest and repeat for the follow up quest...like candy from a baby.

You can also get credit for this quest by simply standing very close by while someone else does it. It happened to me.

Yep....VERY anoying Quest....
Your whole squad HAVE TO stay alive.

Let your allied soldiers make the way and follow behind them with your squard. But not too close.
If you keep to the right you'll be fine.
Though the last bit towards the gate, stay on the patch. Awoiding the enemy up on the mountainsides.
When reaching the gate some commands are issued and the opening is in progress.
You will be attacked while the opening is in progress and even after !...
When open move through the gate and wait for Patch. Complete the Quest.

Get the new Quest , then talk to one of the 3 guys (Warlord Krogg) on the other side.
This time keep to the very left....climbimg the mountain and awoiding some of the enemies.
You will have to kill 3 groups on your way. Reach the next, open, gate and complete the Quest by Calen on the other side.

Get the next Quest from the BIG red Dragon (Alexstraza the Life-Binder)

BTW: While you'r there follow the path up to the right and discover Grim Batol. (needed for entering GB via DungeonFinder)

If you talk to Patch after accepting the quest you have the options "Dismissed!" to make the squad leave and "<Make a series of complicated hand gestures.>" which provides a variety of hilarious results, some of them being:

Grit says: Leading under the influence...

Newt says: Was that... Yoga?

Ticker says: Now that's just rude...

Newt says: You want me to steal third?

Volt says: Sir, I think the explosions and gunfire gave us away. You don't have to use hand signals.

Grit says: What the heck was that?

All of your team mates need to be alive at the end point to trigger the event to complete the quest. If you lose one member, just go back to the start and get a new team.

It's pretty much, to my knowledge, impossible to die on this quest. You get healed by one of the goblins, so feel free to charge in and take all the aggro on yourself. This quest amuses the hell out of me. Other responses to the hand gestures option include:

I just gave up completely, my squad won't move at all. They just stand there next to Shaw and do absolutely nothing. I can get heals if I attack the mobs right next to Shaw's spot, but otherwise nothing. I've dismissed and abandoned multiple times and still nothing.

I had to run back to the start and dismiss the full team (no-one died) 3 times before I took them up the right side only and then the act played out to bombing the gate open.

I have a feeling something is phasing incorrectly as my team kept going into battle mode but never hitting anything at the gate.

The squad will not move if u head towards a wrong direction. I have to abandon the quest once and retake it because the gate is not opened. This may due to the fact that I have to walk up and down trying to finish another quest, and get the squad totally confused.

If u dont want to get too involved in the fight, just hit one of the mobs once, stand back and let the squad finishes the rest off.

Stupid quest, after multiple attempts, abandoning and resummoning the Gob Squad, had to give up, they simply would not open the gate.

I was finally able to make this quest work when, after the event wouldn't start, I:
Flew back, abandoned the quest and re-accepted it
Followed the path the whole way up ON FOOT, following the Axebite soldiers and letting them engage the mobs wherever possible. Near the end when the Axebite warriors ran off the path, I beelined for the gate and the Gob Squad finally did their thing.
Basically, I recommend doing this slowly and carefully. Don't mount, don't try and skip around trash, just follow the path and keep your Gobs alive and hopefully it will work.
Clearly it's buggy so this may not help everyone, but it's what worked for me.

These guys are amazing. Beyond amazing. Flipping awesomely amazing. If you target an enemy with a ranged attack before going in as a melee, you'll bet lucky if it's still standing when you go up to smack it. Grit does more than 1/10 hp ticks with his flamethrower, the mage is throwing +30k fireballs with an AOE affect, the hunter smacks for 13k a bullet - it's a SLAUGHTER.

You want to know how overpowered these guys are? I cut my way through the line to get to the bomb door with them. As luck would have it, patrols began to respawn when Newt was at the door.

Every single one of them. By the time Ticker had the door open, we had fifty, not exaggerating, fifty Twilight's Hammer units assaulting our position. Considering 20 of them were aggrod to me and I was going to die in .05 seconds, I ran for dear life through the doorway only to find Patch had instantly healed me for 69857. I peek around the corner of the gate, and the God Squad is still going at it in full swing.

It felt like a real moment, those five goblins fighting tooth and nail at the gates trying to hold off the incoming swarm of cultists. Fireballs searing across the battlefield, bullets spraying into the hordes of enemies, I popped all of my feral druid's cooldowns and jumped back into the fray. It was GLORIOUS. When we fell a good twenty more of them, new patrols rolled in their place. The swarm was wide enough that if anything spawned in the vicinity, it was forced into aggro on the Gob Squad group. After a good 45 seconds of clawing, tearing, and gouging through the opposition, combat finally dropped, and all that was left was a semicircle of corpses.

I have NEVER had as much fun on any quest in the game as I had on this one. Gob Squad is one hell of a group of goblins, and I hope we get to see more of em in a later patch or expansion.

For me i accidentally dismissed the LT and asking for new squad won't reset the LT. Abandon and re-run. takes mere moments, and don't do the mountain thing someone suggested.

Can't believe this quest is still bugged. How many months ago was Cataclysm released and this quest still hasn't been fixed?

I've done this quest with 3 alts now, and today was the worst of them all. I was gang-banged at the gates by about 30 mobs while my squad was attempting to blow it open. Note that this is after I ran through and cleared the road of the mobs to get my 30 kills for the other quest.

For everyone having trouble at the gates when hordes of enemies rush, here's my advice. When you get to the gate and the dialogue starts, mount up and hover. When the enemies rush in, just sit and wait. Once the gate is blown, fly off and cause the Squad to despawn. Fly back and talk to Warlord Krogg just the other side of the gate and get a new Squad. Boom, done, no muss, no fuss.

This quest is very straightforward. Get the quest, talk to questgiver (are they ready?). March up the path killing everything you see. Your buddies are very powerful. Once you reach the gate, wait. The guys will do their thing and eventually blow the gate open. Piece of cake.

Your demoman gets updated when you change the sub-zone. That is necessary for him to get the ability to blow the gate open. So walk along the path until the sub zone changes (again: walk - mounting seems to bug the ability update). Then use your flying mount to fly near the hills to the right (pay attention to your squad: don't lose it) and get to the gate without many senseless fights.

Wait till they blow up the gate and fight the rest of the path till you have the 30 required kills.

I lost some of my guys so I abandoned the quest only to find I can't find where to re pick up the quest. There's no ! around the area and all these comments above don't mention 29,52.

It's where Shaw is, you talk to him again THEN the quest giver pops up.

This bugged out for me 3 times. The first I got the gate, dialogue started and then no one did anything. 2 more times nothing happened at all. Final time I got all the way through it but then the ENTIRE area of enemy mobs attacked at once and I died a horrible death. Last time through it worked, but was still buggy with Patch lagging behind constantly.

I was working on LOREMASTER achievement and when I rode up to the gate on a mount I had to abandon and redo the quest. When I walked up to it everything went perfect.

Once u have the quest, talk again with the quest giver Warlord Krogg and ask if your team is ready.
I didn't do that the first 2 times and well they didn't do anything at the gate. But after I asked Krogg if they where ready, well they did what they was supposed to do at the gate :).

Edit: On the follow up quest Pressing Forward ---> Haciendo presión
Do the same, talk to Warlord Krogg and let him know your ready to press up the canyon.
