Completing this quest phases out the flight path for alliance. Its not really vital but if you want it don't hand it in.

Kind of a downer of an ending, but at least you get a nice reward for your futility.

I do like this though. Nothing like seeing ground you've been fighting for permanently lost to the Horde to point up how much the world has changed in 4.0. Haven't had anything like this in game before.

Wow this quest was bullcrap, after everything I went through the horde just take it and thassaran dissapears, no epic battle with his brother or anything.

The quest title is a reference to the original quest to kill Araj, pre-Cataclysm.

On a side note, I was surprised by the effectiveness of Blizzard's storytelling with this zone. It was short, to be honest, but it REALLY showed how evil the Forsaken are becoming.

I don't know if this changes after level 40, but after leveling both an Alliance and Horde character after the Shattering, the Alliance is getting absolutely destroyed.

The only place they've made any headway is Southern Barrens, it seems.

I think Vanilla WoW handled conflict rather well - both factions fought, but the endings to the battles were inconclusive. If you were Alliance, the quests made it seem like Alliance won. If you were Horde, the quests made it seem like the Horde won.

But in Cata they seem to have taken out all uncertainty. Now, when there's a battle between the Alliance and Horde, there are two possible outcomes - a draw, or the Horde wins. :(

Was kind of dissapointed when this questline ended as a loss for the Alliance. I really hoped to reclaim Andorhal. However ( Thassarian says: My battle's not over yet. I've got an appointment with that harpy that calls herself a Banshee Queen... and I'm finding out what she did to Koltira.) Turns out that the Forsaken are really playing a dirty game (especially now withThrall gone and a new, inexperienced warchief in his place) and becoming a serious threat. WTB some spanking @ Sylvanass when Thrall returns (Hope he does ;p)

Considering the hordes new warchief is substantionally more bloodthirsty than Thrall ever was, I think that is the reason. The forsaken are also stirring up something of their own... I wonder.

Neat questline, though a bit short, would've loved to see what Thassarian would do when he finds out what happened to Koltira. I guess I'll keep searching for the quest then :)

You know it's bad when my Horde for Life ass is rooting for Thassarian. I would much rather have lost the town than have what happened to Koltira, happen to Koltira. I even knew the outcome before starting on the quest, but it was so much worse watching the cut scene. I've always preferred the Kalimdor Horde, but now I'm getting to where I hate The Forsaken. I swear, if the Alliance on my server attacks UC, I am going to zip over as fast as I can...so I can stand there and cheer them on.

Seems like almost every quest Alliance vs. Horde, Horde win out in the end. Every. Time.

Sylvanas is NOT like the Lich King. The Lich King raised the dead to be mindless servants that had no will and forced to serve him. Sylvanas, as seen in one of the first quests when you make an undead character, raises them to give them another chance at life. They have the choice to join the forsaken or leave, as Marshal Redpath and some other people do.

*spoiler* After doing the quest chain in silver pine forest, you learn that the forsaken numbers are dwindling and given that they cannot reproduce, Sylvanas is forced to increase her forces the only way she knows how. I admit that her methods are a bit aggressive and what she did to koltira was more then out of line. However just as 4dehorde pointed out, everything she does, she does for her people and their survival. Besides...she's the banshee queen...what in the world would make you think that her methods were going to be nice & tidy? ;)

Sylvanas is actually worse than Arthas, her army commits the same sort of abominations under their free will. Also Koltira was a Blood Elf, Thassarian says so.

Anyone know if thus quest resets if you transfer from horde to alliance ? i want that chillwind staff but my warlock did the horde questline :S
