Guy is in a tent on the south end of the ledge. After downing about 70k of his health, you hop on a drake and follow him and his drake while killing him. If you're a melee toon, you can hop onto his drake to melee him. After you kill him, the drake takes you to a rock high in the sky near the tower.

Take heart- if you're using Dominos your control bar will likely never show up. He does minimal damage. Eventually the drake carries you to a rock in the sky where you can kill Zoltrik

Terrath is doing his shout "The Stone Dragons are here…" but the Stone Dragons never show up. Seems to be bugged for me.

If you're melee and the Jump Drake button doesn't popup you can type /cast Jump Drakes!

Cannot get on the drake. I don't jump on automatically when I approach the mob, nor do I get anything on a pet bar, nor does typing '/cast Jump Drakes!' (or any variation thereof) work.

No idea what I'm supposed to do.

If you're using Bartender 4 check your pet bar settings, by default the pet bar does NOT show when you're in a vehicle, like in this quest. Hope it helps :)

I had some difficulty getting the quest to work. The drakes would always despawn as soon as they landed. I eventually figured out that it was because I had a non-combat pet out using the Pet Leash addon, which was stopping the drakes from appearing. Disabled the addon, dismissed the pet, and dinged level 85 after finishing off the troll dude.

After much stress over this quest, I figured out if you have any sort of pet out, combat or non-combat, then the Stone drake that is supposed to pick you up despawns as soon as it lands or never comes in at all causing you to have to reset the encounter.

I put Mr. Grubbs away..and quest complete a minute later :)

Bugged for me the first time I did it. When I jumped over to his mount to open a can, he wasn't there. I had a nifty little ride on the back of his dragon... alone. When it finally dismounted me, I just flew back down to where he was and started killing him again, and this time around he was on his dragon when I jumped on it and I proceeded to open that can. :)

Bugged for me with a non-combat pet out as well. Dismissed him and turned off auto-call (had the same problem on the Seahorse taming quest in Vashi'jr).

However, this time someone else tagged him before me, but I still got a Drake, it forced me onto it, bugged big time, then gave me control of the drake. I could fly anywhere I wanted, but couldn't get off, and couldn't go up or down.

I had to Hearthstone to get off of it, nothing worked, including "/script VehicleExit();"

This was the most epic quest for me as a shadowpriest in Deepholm. Channeling Mind Flay across over to another drake while flying in blazing speed gave me such a great feeling ^^ I /giggled.

Just did this as a frost mage, when he gets to lower health and emotes (Something like "Let's see how you do in the sky!") I hit him with deep freeze, and just kept on nuking him as normal, keeping him frozen in place and there was no dragon phase for me. I may have missed out on an epic dragon ride (Meh, I already did the Hyldsmeet) but I got this done in record time :)

I had an issue with Zoltrik despawning just after the start of the flight portion of the fight. Left me stuck on my drake unable to dismount or land, and with control over flying the drake but leashed to the fight's flightpath.

Logging off & back in solved the issue, but left my character in mid-air & dismounted (and hence falling rapidly...)

Currently having a huge issue finishing the quest. Every time my stone drake flies in, it despawns before I can get on it to continue the fight. I am on my third try, after relogging. Has anyone else had this issue?

I killed Zoltrik like five times on that rock in the sky, but it's not saying that I killed him., ?HMMmmm.....! This quest has a bug or or something. Has anyone noticed this?

Bugged for me. I completed this quest and was working on the next quest when I was suddenly put on a drake again! I couldn't figure out how to exit the drake but as a mage I figured to teleport out of the situation.

Also bugged for me. If you get close to or attack a twilight drake you're instantly placed on a drake.

I think because stone drakes weren't spawning, they cranked the setting all the way to the other side and now you're put on one at the drop of a hat. The only way to get off is to port, hearth, or do the entire fight all over again. You cans also die by using the Char Stuck button, at least you won't lose any durability.

The fight was cool, and the bug makes for an excellent stone drake mount preview, but it's getting extremely annoying now.

I understand completely, I love this quest, it's one of my favourites - it's fighting on dragons! How could it not be epic?

But my guildies just don't get my fangirl squees over this q lol

Just stay alive until the dragon takes you to a rock where you both land and fight. I admire Blizz for trying to make this fight more creative. but it's too bugged right now to be of any use.

Had an impossible time doing this on my rogue. The fight started and everything was going well, then he ran away and I didn't notice the drake I was supposed to get on to chase him.

A minute later Zoltrik reappeared in his tent and I approached him to restart the fight, but was immediately put on a drake's back with nothing to chase. He was still in his tent, but I couldn't go up or down on the drake. I tried logging off and back on, as others have suggested, but that just made my drake ride around for a minute with nothing to chase.

So I flew as close as I could and threw daggers at him in his tent from the drake's back. Crippling poison wasn't doing enough damage, so I switched to deadly poison and that eventually got him low enough to make him mount his own drake (while I was at half health!).

The chase began, but my button for jumping the drakes wasn't working. So I just followed along until reaching the place where the fight ends. I'm sure the quest is awesome when it works, but it was way too buggy to enjoy.

This quest seems bugged, I cannot get near the boss to engage before I'm thrown onto the drake, at which point the boss does not even "mount up" on his drake and I am stuck waiting for my drake to "time out". I've dropped and retaken quest 5 times now, logged out same #, nothing working..=( HELP?........UPDATE!--employ a ranged or a caster class and have them pull mob out!

For Melee (I played a rogue): Go into the tent and fight him. He then runs out. Follow him. A drake will come and scoop you up. Look for an icon on your pet bar that tells you to jump to his drake. Do so immediately and then melee him to death. After that, some seem to indicate you have control of the drake, but I did not. The drake eventually left me on a projection and I flew back to the questgiver.

That was the second time. The first time, I landed on his drake but he was not there. The drake was not controllable and dropped me to my death.

Clearly still buggy.

This quest was bugged for me, as well. After the target mounts, Terrath shouts "The Stone Dragons are here…", it materializes, I leap, sort of bounce off the dragons back, land directly in front of it, and it vanishes.

Disabling all addons did nothing.

I was still able to complete the quest by ranged attack, killing him seemed to work just fine. However, if you are a class without ranged attacks you will likely be out of luck.

Amusing "bug" as of right now

A hunter can do this quest, when Zoltrik dies, camouflage. When you get booted off the drake, the camouflage effect persists indefinitely unless you die, use camouflage or attack something with your pet.

The effect causes you to be camouflaged when mounted, in combat or anywhere else.

Just did it in a party with my friend , he started the quest before me and flew on the drake , i started just after him and the drake went after... , when we reached temple i noticed i didn't get Zoltrik Drakebane he said he did and he was attacking it anyways i got the Quest Complet but i was stuck on the Drake! couldn't fly up or down just around , flew everywhere , pressed the button and even tried /exitvehicle nothing worked , at last! i went to the doorway of the temple and got "Zzz" rested state so got dosmounted immediately , alas :) hope none have that , and hopefully this will help you.

It could at least reward you for killing him quickly by not taking you all the way across the zone to the rock anyway. But this zone is chock full of such turn-ins.

During the fight the game sends you a CHAT_MSG_RAID_BOSS_WHISPER that appears at the top in the middle of your screen (and the normal chat frame) with the golden text

If you can't fight Zoltrik at range, use your Jump Drakes! ability:

If you wanted to see what it looks like in the game make sure you escape the newlines, pipe characters, and the reverse solidi. You also need to send it to both DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME and whatever that chat frame in the middle is. I will post what I have so far but I don't know how to send it to the frames listening for CHAT_MSG_RAID_BOSS_WHISPER messages.

I wonder if pictures in the in-game mail are sent in a similar manner. You can't send this using SendChatMessage() BTW.

I notice that at the beginning of the quest you can fly your dragon like a normal mount. I wonder how exactly this stuff is implemented and if other mounts are set up so that you could use abilities on them if Blizzard allowed it (or if you poked at a few of these functions).
