Patch 4.0.3a Hotfixes - November 29
Players can no longer receive Bloodsail Buccaneers reputation by killing Booty Bay Bruisers when phased after completing the quest "Doublerum".

Does this mean, players should not complete this quest until they are exalted with Bloodsail Buccaneers?

Currently, even the level 85 Bruisers, before and after completing this quest, do not offer reputation. I'm assuming that this will be remedied sometime after Cataclysm is released, but for now (3 days before release), don't waste your time.

Killing Baron Revilgaz gives you the following:

Reputation with Bloodsail Buccaneers increased by 28.
Reputation with Booty Bay decreased by 125.
Reputation with Ratchet decreased by 62.
Reputation with Gadgetzan decreased by 62.
Reputation with Everlook decreased by 62.

Roughly. Booty Bay rep is always -125, but the increase is sometimes 27, while the other decreases are 63.

still useful in 4.0.6, and we do get rep while killing the booty bay member (except Bruisers )

BUT! here comes the problem, I am friendly with Bloodsail, and I got the quest "Avast Ye, Scallywag",

but i just can't turn that in! bacause the Bloodsail ship behind the Booty Bay is also PHASED! no one is in the ship.

any solution anyone?
PS: abandon the quest does not work

First time i accepted this quest (i was honored with BB) i was phased and theres was only one 85 bruiser but after that i abandoned it and now im only neutral with BB and when i accept quest again it doesnt phase me...can some1 help ? do i need to be friendly with BB to get phased or what?

The following strategy is one of the quickest ways to farm to Friendly with Bloodsail.

!Refer to the chart here for lists of all reputations for all NPCs in Booty Bay. Bucaneros Velasangre You may wish to click the "Rep." tab on top of the table to sort it by reputation.

NOTE: Killing does not lower your reputation with the Bloodsail Buccaneers, even though the tooltips for them say "Bloodsail Buccaneers". Remember, this is about speed, so just tag and keep moving. Don't bother to loot them if you want to do this quickly.

Try to avoid the Bruisers as much as you can. They aren't strong, but they have a Net that roots you for a few seconds.

Once you phase, the best route to run is one that focuses on the corners of the docks, and pick off anything in LOS that you can. If you're high-level, you should be able to do this fairly quickly if you toggle on your autorun and spam DoT's, hunter shots, pets, whatever. So long as YOU keep moving, as the NPCs respawn quickly.

Total Bloodsail count per run in parentheses. Refer to linked chart above for rep values. Note that you'll get more if you have the guild perk.

Start with the highest rep NPCs, the bankers, at the southern tip of the dock. Tag each of the NPCs (59 Rep.) behind the bank counter. Ignore the Auctioneer, he awards 0 reputation.
Run up the ramp.

Tag Jurak as you come up the ramp (64), turn left and tag Fleet Master Seahorn (69) and "Sea Wolf" MacKinley (74). Continue forward, tagging Fin Fizracketto (79) your left as you pass his hut. Head down the ramp. Continue along the path north. You can tag First Mate Crazz (84) on the roof. Run info the commerce building, There will be a group of 7 NPCs you can easily AoE down (109)

Tag the Caravaneer (114), keep running down to the docks. Tag Captain Heckleberry (119), Sprogger (124), Wharfmaster Lozgil (129), and especially Grizzlowe (154). You will also most likely run into "Shakes" near this area (159)

Mount up and fly over the pirate ship to Baron Revilgaz (184). Tag Kebok (189), then jump down to the bankers area below. Rinse and repeat. Yields 189 rep per route. Compared to killing "Shakes" over and over at Faldir for 5 rep, something like running this route is defintely the best option.

As stated in another comment earlier in the thread, you can go grab the ¡Adelante, almirante! while still phased. Good luck.

I'm one shotting everyone right now. No AoE. Bruisers are still level 35 and give no rep. Revilgaz took two shots, bless his green heart. Make sure to nail the bruisers first or they shoot you to the point where you can only move away from them. The damage is miniscule, but you can't move except to swim away from them.

ETA - after re-reading the discussions, here's a listing. I am only going to list Bloodsail rep gains. Assume the damage to Steamwheedle Cartel reps is 5 times the Bloodsail gain for Booty Bay and 2 or 3 times for the others. Everyone gives you 5 Bloodsail rep points except these guys:

Auctioneers: 0, plus they will mark you for PvP for 5 minutes.
Baron Revilgaz: 25
Brashtide Raiders: 0, but they all have loot like fabric, cheese, and so on.
Bruisers: 0, but after my abortive attempts at killing them at 85, it feels kinda good.
Goldgrubber brothers (2 bankers): 25 each
Gringer, Horde flight master: Will kill you. If you do nail him, 0 rep and marked PvP. Watch your tab targeting on his flight deck.
Grizzlowe: 25
Wharfmaster Lozgil: 15

If you want to drop your guild banner, I suggest the plank leading to the bank is the place to do it. You have a 45 yard range and 2 minutes. If you are a caster, you can cast as far as your range and if you are near the banner, you get credit. I was getting 31 on a gnome exalted with the guild for the Goldgrubbers and the Baron. Your key area is the Goldgrubbers at the bank and the Baron. Hit the V key to get the big red health banners over them for visibility. Nail the Goldgrubbers (31)and Joad(6) first, then hit the Baron(31), then Seahorn(6). Keep an eye on the Goldgrubbers and the Baron the whole time. You can also get credit for the guy in the doorway across from Seahorn, the guy next to Gringer the Horde Flight master (watch your tab targeting if you are Alliance!), and the five NPCs in the inn within the radius. But always keep an eye on the Baron. I was lucky enough to get him twice on one go of the banner, which tells me that the respawn rate in the phased area is a little more zesty than in the normal situation.

I started by alternating between Booty Bay and the pirates cove in Tanaris to try to stay at least neutral with the cartel, but realized there is a maximum any faction can hate you, so it is more time efficient to just plow all the way through to exalted with the pirates and totally hated with the Steamwheedle guys, then go over to Tanaris, Venture Bay, whatever, and grind there later. I'm actually going to pony up for a race change to human to do that next month.

A complete side note is that I am doing quests in Netherstorm and the goblins there are not at all related to the Steamwheedle Cartel.

I have the quest and I am phased, all was going well and I had successfully grinded a few k rep, then a level 85 bruiser came out of nowhere and killed me. After I respawned, there were 2 of them. This is making it impossible for me to efficiently grind rep here. Has any one else had this problem?

Edit:

I was told earlier tonight by a GM that as of 4.2 level 85 bruisers will spawn as well as the level 35 bruisers.

Edit 2:

After the server shutdown last night, no level 85 bruisers have spawned. So it appears that it was just a bug and the information the GM gave me was false.

On another note, the rogue trainer Ian Storm (40.5 73.5) appears to be dead, but really he is not! You can still kill him and gain Bloodsail reputation. Those damn sneaky rogues!

I also found that grinding Steamwheedle Cartel reputation was extremely efficient on the boat in the middle of Booty Bay. The Bloodsail Corsairs normally respawn within seconds. You can run around the boat and never have to stop and wait for respawns or move to another location.

What do I do if I have already completed this quest when I was doing Loremaster and I wasn't aware of this way to farm rep with BB :/?

Some things to note.

l) You can log out and still be in the phase event when you log on.
ll) Bankers give 31.5 rep each, respawn ~1 minute.
lll) Bruisers give no rep, but the town people do. Excluding Auction and flight master(s).
llll) This is average 70 rep a minute
lllll) After Unfriendly the worgens will no longer be attackable (but the towns people are killable still!) for Rep! (Buccaneers.)

Would just like to add that 2 "Booty Bay Elites" (level 71 elites) will spawn before and during the Stranglethorn fishing extravaganza, even during the phased event. They stand on either side of Fleet Master Seahorn and award 28 Bloodsail rep each. Respawn timer is approx 5 minutes. A nice little rep addition!

[<Baron Revilgaz sighs.> Even with all my suspicions about Firallon's plot, we aren't prepared for a full two-front attack between the Bloodsail and the Brashtide. It's going to take a small miracle to hold Booty Bay today.

I've got a barrel of Doublerum in my chambers. Take the stairs down three flights, and check the first door on your right. You can ignore the warnings on the barrel... those should be the least of your worries.]
