Lobster cages are on the ocean floor near the stormwind harbor, just open them up manually.

The shark is a non-elite level 85. If you get in combat, just use some CC and run away if you're not level 85 yet.

And with all the fishing and cooking quests, you won't get the skillup if you're at 450/450.

As a 6k geared retadin, my wife almost died to that non elite shark. It's not playing around. Hits for 7k on plate, often. Treat it with respect and you should be alright.

Having trouble with this quest today. I tried swimming all over the docks and then came on here to read about it. I flew toward the docks with my scanner on for beasts and saw rock lobsters at maximum range. When I closed in, the the yellow dots disappeared and I have yet to see a cage.

Beware the Bluetip Thresher sharks that now inhabit the Stormwind Harbor.

Apparently these are, in fact, the fabled SNL land sharks. I was swimming around to complete this daily on my low level Worgen Warrior when I saw one approaching from a distance. I immediately swam up to a ramp and out of the water. While running across the docks I was checking my city map. I wondered, "Why am I still under attack?"

I dismissed the map screen and before I could run I watched the shark kill my alt ON THE DOCK.

*Knock knock* Who is it? Land shark. Land shark who? *Dead*

For my next "Feat of Strength" I want to try kiting one across Stormwind.

Edit: These sharks are now level 15 and not level 85 as others have noted. When Cataclysm first launched and level 85 was the level cap these sharks were the hilarous bane of low level characters such as my alts. As to whether or not that can still hover or 'fly' on the docks, I'll leave that for others to attempt post-patch-4.2.0 and beyond.

My level 31 mage died three times trying to do this quest.
Thanks, Blizz. At least low-levels on Horde side for the equivalent quest don't have to die to get a cooking daily done.

Always hate doing this quest because of the sharks. Sooo... how to do this without dying?

I do this by jumping in at the leftmost dock on the slide that goes in the water and checking out if the sharks are around. When they are out of sight quickly swim to the nearest cage which is right in front of the slide. Then, without going back, swim to the next cage in sight and then make a run for it. Next I do the same thing on the rightmost dock and repeat the first.

I usually manage to do it all without dying at all and save that precious gold needed for repairs after you die. Hope this helps.

Call me crazy...but I am doing this quest at level 11. Yeah I know I'm nuts. What I have found though is on average you get atleast 2 cages before killer sharks attack.

I have to say, I am primaraly a Horde player, but have had fun leveling up some Alliance toons, and came across this daily. I feel for you, it is a painful quest compared to the Horde one in which the cute little baby murloc swims out on occasion.

I've found that if you go to the middle of the docks - right between docks two and three (same thing counting from the top or the bottom), there are three cages pretty close together - one's right against the stone dock wall, and the other is at the other end of the ship on a little hillock and a third one between them. They respawn VERY quickly, so unless there's someone else in that little area, you can swim from one to the other in a second or two, and by the time you've retrieved one, the others have respawned - not counting Death by Shark, the whole thing is done super fast.

What I found while doing this quest: There's a cage by a ramp up to land near 25.6, 49.3 where sharks rarely go. If you want to complete this quest and not die on a low-level, swim down there and get the cage as it respawns (takes around 40-45 seconds), going up for breath if you need to.

EDIT: Yeah there's pretty much no way not to die if you're under 80. Thanks a lot Blizzard.

There's something new; after you die, as a ghost you can't submerge anymore.

Camera down and X, camera down and jump, camera down and a prayer; nothing work!

I've tried to submerge as a ghost in one other place too (don't recall where) and the same thing happened!

All this after the last patch.

It's just me?

aha lv 48 n didn't die. god so lucky. i've always evaded this quest bcoz of the shark. but i couldn't find the shark (or sharks) anywhere this time. Have they removed them or were they killed? i dunno!

As of patch 4.2, the only shark I observed is a level 15 non-elite.

This may well have been changed earlier (I'm horrible about doing my dailies), or it may not have been changed and I just didn't see the big one. No idea.

This daily used to be a terrible nightmare for low level toons because the nasty Sharks could swallow you in one bite! But now, it's easy-peasy to deal with level 15 (rather than 85 like before!) Sharks! :-)

The crates have like a 30 second spawn rate and the shark is only a level 15 so no worries for most people :)
