I did this quest on my Warlock, and in order to be able to collect the ice chunks, I had to do two things:

1) Put pet on passive. The demon would attack the ice blocks when I attacked, and when the block was broken, I could not loot any ice.

2) Use melee attcks to chop the ice blocks.

Did this with my hunter, no problems using ranged. The cave is at 67, 54 and also contains lots of thorium.

Thanks for the tip. I kept wanding them with my Felguard attacking it. Sometimes I got one, sometimes I didn't.
Now using Melee, and I'm getting them more frequently.

Also, the yetis are more annoying now that they can freeze you.

Entrance to the cave is 67.54, in case anyone has trouble finding it.

Best to do this with quests Echo Three, Are We There, Yeti? and The Perfect Horns.

Go to the sensor for the Echo Three quest first -- this will complete the quest and teleport you into the back of the cave where Icewhomp is.

Defeat Icewhomp to complete The Perfect Horns, then you can work the Fresh From the Hills & Are We There, Yeti? quests as you have to fight your way out of the cave.

Any yeti pelts you still need for Are We There, Yeti? can be mopped up going down the hillside as you head back to Everlook.

P.S. Decent reward items for arms classes, but nothing for spellcasters.

The cave entrance is at 57.53 and, as a melee class, it was plenty simple to run through the caves attacking chunks of ce and any Yeti daft enough to try to kill me!

They are breakable and u get the ice in your bags aswell. Spells work!

This may be an isolated case I was facing, but if you're finding that using your weapon isn't giving you the 7 pieces of Pure Glacier Ice you need, use spells instead (or at least something other than white damage, if you're a non-casting melee class).

For whatever reason, that did the trick for me. Your mileage may vary.

The good news is there's a bunch of pure solid ice over in the Ice Thistle Hills cavern, straight east from Everlook. The bad news is there's also a bunch of vicious yetis in there.

But if you can handle the yeti, hey, piece of cake! Just walk right up to the bigger chunks and crack 'em open with your weapon. Bring it all back to me and I'll do my thing.]
