I found this quest to be VERY finicky. The rocket shells seem to explode just short of the flying machines every time, and I couldn't land any reliable solid hits.

My best luck was aiming for the top sides of the flying machines (as if I was shooting the gnomes, not the planes) and to aim for the ones on the left side of the screen. It still took quite some time to rack up 25 kills.

when i first did this quest, non of the rockets registered on the planes.

this was quickly fixed by abandoning the quest, and restarting.

so this quest may be glitchy for others

After a couple of mins of shooting, then realizing I wasn't hitting anything, decided to read on here. I abandoned quest and restarted it. Didn't even have to aim perfectly to get a hit. Quest finished in no time at all. Make sure after you blow up a plane, to fire at it again, so you hit the pilots as they parachute. Have fun!

This quest is an utter POS. It takes me dozens of shots to get one to register, if THAT often! Blizzard, STOP WITH THE STUPID EFFING MINIGAMES! THESE ARE WHAT'S RUINING THE GAME!

As of 4.2 this quest still seems to be bugged. I did not have any luck changing cannons, relogging, or dropping/grabbing quest.

The kills took me quite a long time to get. I had the best luck aiming for the planes moving from side to side, the ones moving towards me were near impossible to hit.

As previously mentioned, aim high on the planes and make sure to remember to hit the wing commanders who parachute after a hit.

Annoying as hell.

Targeting the fighter-bombers diving at your guns seems buggy. I *think* it's registering the planes as terrain rather than targets, cos the targeting reticule was moving away from the fighter-bombers as they approached me (much like it would if you were on a zeppelin gun platform going past a solid wall). If I got a particularly low flying fighter-bomber - one that I was shooting slightly down on - then I could hit its pilots and register a kill that way.

I found shooting the further away bombers was the simplest and best solution. They only have one pilot in them, but if you shoot his parachute out of the air it still counts as a kill and you can complete the quest solely by killing bombers + bomber pilots.

I wasn't happy wth the first gun I chose so I dismounted to change guns. As soon as i did, the BOMB apparently blew up. Even after I abandoned the quest the fire continued for quite a while. So remember to abandon the quest before you dismount from the cannon.
It did get me the "I stood in the fire" Achievement, though.

While I'm not entirely certain, I believe killing the gnomes for this quest counts as killing Alliance NPCs, and thus will spam 'Krom'gar Fortress is under attack!' in the Local Defense channel for Alliance.

Saw that message get spammed a few times while leveling an alliance character in Stonetalon, and this quest was the only thing I could think of that would have lots of Alliance NPCs being killed in Krom'gar.

I just tried to do this quest and the rockets would not fire and I could not leave the vehicle...so I tried abandoning the quest; it successfully abandoned the quest but I was stuck in the vehicle! Beware this extremely bugged quest!

It seems "rockets" you shoot are RPG with some delay after hit and before explosion! And it seems the delay greatly depends on your latency!
After 50 min of shooting I have some tips may help people with high latency:
Aim for the "Flying Machines" that move from side to side to hit other Flying Machines that come from back/
Think of rockets you shoot as bombs that you plan on middle of the air.
Shoot plans that have another after them.
Don't shoot the corners.

Sure you can ask a friend with lower latency or try to fix your own latency.

I just did this quest and didn't have any problems. I held down the right mouse button and moved the mouse to target and pounded the number one key to fire. Finished in about 30 seconds. I guess they got the bugs worked out. (or I was just lucky)

Abandoning didn't work for me, just made me restart. This quest is severely bugged, and not likely to be fixed... :(
