Is this quest bugged to some people because I am unable to get the quest, I have the two achievements that unlock the extra dailys but the quest giver just gives me "The Fate Of The Fallen". My friend is able to do this quest every day and gets it from the same guy.

the dailies are random, similar to the one in brunhildar. sometimes you have to punish lazy vrykul or sometimes you have to kill protodrake eggs. some days you get it some days you dont.

EDIT: The timing/intervals of the flight path & Kraken path have since been updated to make it possible to immediately fly again.

This quest is terribly designed. Since the Kraken moves at set intervals, and you are on rails, it's possible to go an entire flight and never once be within range of him. If this happens, don't immediately fly again when you land or you'll hit the same intervals... wait like 20 seconds before taking off again.

Just because some people may not be 100% sure, the Argent Pavilion is the building on the west side of the grounds with all the neutral quest givers (where you picked up this quest). The mounts are right outside and when hovering your mouse over them the speech bubble appears rather than an arrow saying you can mount it.

Just thought I'd clarify encase you're like me and do the quests in a random order and then wonder where the Hippogryphs are.

I discovered last night, when I was doing this quest with a friend of mine, that if you actually manage to kill the kraken you receive a kraken tooth which begins a quest (can't remember the quest name) that rewards 13g. This is turned into the same NPC that gives the "get kraken" quest.

We achieved this by taking the flight at the same time and both targeting the Kraken and then spamming the crap out of the flaming spears.

If you do not use a macro, then target the Deepcaller's on the big middle ship. Those are the ones that the missles will fire off for.

The macros help alot. But if you have luck like mine the Kraken will swim away after like 1 hit, causing you to have to mount up a few times. Took me 3 mount trys. 2 Before the macro.

I've found that:

/target Kvaldir Deepcaller
/use Flaming Spears
/target North Sea Kraken

works better because when you are at the middle boat you want the Deepcallers to die and when you are on the outer area you won't be able to target them and all the spears will be used on the Kraken.

This quest quest made me rofl and /sigh today at fockface who made it. Because if you jump on your gryphon in wrong time, you wont be able to bomb Kraken, you will fly above ally boat when he is on horde and vice versa. And i got 3 such flights in a row, so basically i spent 6 or 8 minutes doing nothing.

As the quest does not actually require you to kill the Kvaldir Deepcallers with the flaming spears, you can manually fly down and kill them and still get credit. The Kraken, however, must be hit with spears, so you're going to have to take the flight anyway.

somedays this daily is completely frustrating ... there are times when i have to run this four times due to when i finally get to where kraken is at, he'll be on the ship to the left, while i'm flying around the ship to the right. when i get to the ship to the left, kraken is at the ship on the right!

all you can do is laugh and move on.

Yet another horrible quest design, the flying route and the timing of Kraken emerge/submerge are almost always out of sync. Haven't those Blizzard designers learnt enough from the two similiar failures in IQD?

Exceptionally poor design to this quest. It may take 3 or even 4 runs due to the simple fact that you control neither the flight of your mount or the position of the Kraken (which alternates between two ships), so that you will often be taken on a ride in which the Kraken repeatedly dives before you arrive and comes up at the ship you just left, so you are never in range of your target and can do absolutely nothing about it. It's hard to overstate how annoying that is. To minimize it, wait a bit before taking another run so that you have at least a chance to get things synched a little better. Even so, it can easily take 2-3 times as long as necessary to complete this, so if patience isn't one of your virtues you may want to skip it.

I get this done the first time every time. Here's how:

Go do other quests on the isle such as Drottin Hrothgar. On your way back to the tournament grounds, hover just over the mast of the Firehawk, the Horde ship. If the Kraken is attacking that ship, wait until he goes away. As soon as he returns, fly up to to the tournament grounds and immediately mount a hippogryph to Get Kraken. If you do this properly, it will time it so that you have lots of time to finish the quest while it attacks the Alliance and Horde ships. I usually finish the quest on the first pass by the Alliance ship.

This is with a 280% mount and no speed buffs, your mileage may vary with a faster mount or if you have a pally or DK speed buff, and you'll probably have to start flying to the tournament much earlier if you have a slow mount.

Edit: Had to clarify... I changed "I killed it" to "I finish the quest". If you want to kill it for the bonus quest, you'll need a couple of more people flying with you.

Don't think its been said yet, but for those of you who seem to end up racing to get as many AT dailies done as possible before reset... more often than not, like I do... the flight takes 2 min 33 seconds from take-off to landing... in case the clocks ticking and you're trying to balance most quests done with handing in before 3am server time.

This quest $%^&ing %^&*es me off sometimes.Not cause of macros or anything being hard to hit or anything, just because depending on when you take off, you totally miss the kraken. just you get to one ship, and he takes off underwater, and then by the time you get to the next ship, he takes off to the other one. so gay.

This quest got nerfed in 3.3. It now requires to kill just 3 Kvaldir Deepcallers, down from 6, and to hit the Kraken with spears just 6 times, down from 8.

There's an addon called Lancelot that shows a spammable button for this quest. Seems to be smart in that it will focus on the Kraken if it's in range until that objective is complete. I haven't had a "bad run" since using this but mebbe I've just been lucky

As of patch 4.0.1, killing the Kraken no longer results in the bonus daily quest. killed the kraken twice in a row to make sure. This is probably due to the fact that I managed this solo whereas in the past, pre-patch you seemed to always need good timing and two people in group.

They nerfed the Kraken! Severely. I have killed him 2x in a single pass with no one else in the air. Sad.

About the tooth: yes, it drops. But with limitations. If you are still in range of the Kraken and you kill him or someone near you kills him, you get the tooth (Identifying the Remains).

But you can only have one in your bag, even if you "open" it to get the quest. You have to turn the quest in then go out again to get another tooth. You cannot "open" the second tooth until the next day.

If you are not in range, you do not get the tooth. This has happened to me several times where that last shot kills him but then I am too far away.

Each time Get Kraken! is up, I kill him twice, sometimes in one run but most of the time it takes 2 due to the "in range" thing. I'm not bragging, honest. I used to try like mad to get him! Over and over, trying to time it just right. The only time I got the tooth was when someone else in the air with me (not in group) got him (the Kraken was grey to me but I shot anyway because it still counts) and I found the tooth in my bag later.

Since the latest tweaks, he'll be killed in 7 hits. So, to get the quest complete, you kill him, wait for him to respawn at the other boat, and get in your other hit.

first time i did this quest was last night, i managed to kill him asap and i also got the tooth...

something i noticed on my last run that isn't noted in the comments so far, i killed him twice in 1 run first time i did, i didn't get a tooth, and the 2nd time i did, my first kill was pretty close, since i launched the last spear just before i went out of range, and im guessing thats why i didn't a tooth and why some comments above saying they didn't get the tooth as well, as for my 2nd i was right on top of him and i got the tooth and both were on same run.

As of 4.2 the tooth does drop again.

Previous posts give different numbers of spears to kill the Kraken. Currently it takes 7 for me, and I know back in WotLK I couldn't ever kill one myself. I was thinking they nerfed the Kraken, but now I'm thinking that spear damage scales with gear. Regardless, its annoying to kill it in 7 spears when the quest wants 8 thrown! :S

Kraken Tooth. Make the simple macro (target North Sea Kraken, cast Flaming Spears) ....it works well. Spam the macro when your in range of Kraken until you get eight for eight hits, then continue spamming the macro until you are out of range. Check your bag, Kraken Tooth should be in your bag. I've done this quest many, many times on five different toons and have always picked up this tooth quest.

One can directly jump on boat and keep those ; however killing REQUIRES player flying on .

And just tried a few minutes ago, it requires exactly 8 shots to kill .

Make sure that you hit 8 times. I killed the kraken with 7 shots, received the Kraken Tooth and stopped attacking. :-(

As a bonus :

After you kill the Kraken in one run with 8 shots and get the Kraken Tooth , turn in the Identifying the Remains quest but DO NOT turn in the Get Kraken ! quest.

Make another run and kill the Kraken again to get another tooth. You can not click the item yet , but you can turn it in the next day - even if there is no Get Kraken quest available.

Krigarre makes this sound really simple.
It's also alot like the BC dailies on quel'danas (misspelled).
However I'm haveing issues with targetting the Deepcaller's. The mount flys too fast to select a target and the spears do not give an area of effect that you can see where they are hitting.
If anyone has any suggestions to this problem please post.

This is much like the 'Breaking the Blockade' daily at Westguard Keep in Howling Fjord; take the weapon, jump on a transport which flies a predetermined route, drop the bombs (spears in this case) on the appropriate targets.

Two big differences, though...unlike the 'Blockade' zeppelin, you don't have to wait for a bird to come back before you can hop on. There will always be one waiting outside the quest-giver's pavilion, just like regular flight paths. Second, you have two different targets, mobs on ships and kraken in the water. Like Breaking the Blockade, placing the spear in a keyed action bar will help you 'throw' fast enough to get this daily done in one go-around.

The easiest way to get the targets is to make 2 targeting macros, one for each:

/tar Kvaldir Deepcaller
/tar North Sea Kraken

Stick the 2 macros and the flaming spear on an alt hotbar. When you are flying around the boats, this mostly eliminates having to manually target. Note also that when you target and fire at a Deepcaller, often you will take out 2 or 3 with one shot. The Kraken may still require some manual targeting because the range of the /target seems to be somewhat less than the range you can fire at for some reason. But hey, he's big and mighty hard to miss as long as he's not too far away. Zooming your camera out to max range can make it easier to spot him.

It is not always possible to complete this quest in one pass. Using macros you should be able to get all 6 Deepcallers with no trouble. But depending on the timing of your flight, sometimes the Kraken plays hide-and-seek, attacking the boat you are not currently flying near. This is frustrating, but there's not much you can do about it except take another ride and get the rest of the hits you need on him. I try to target the Kraken whenever he's in range, and fire on the Deepcallers when he's not.

Targeting the Kraken is no problem, but the Deepcallers are a pain. Here's what I've found to work best; forget select targeting individual Deepcallers as you fly past the taller ship. Instead, have the spears keyed to the action bar, press the appropriate key and then with your mouse cursor over the taller ship as you fly past, spam left click until the spear shoots. You'll get more than one at a time and should be able to get all 6 in one flight as the hippogryph passes close to the ship about three times.

It DOES have an AoE (but no targeting sight) on the right guys, on the middle, taller ship. I got three on my first shot, two on my second, and then just the one I needed on my last. You have to target (manually) the guys on the center ship.

Hi!

There is a way to double the amount of gold you get from this daily!

You just gotta do enough damage to actually kill the Kracken. You definatly need atleast 2 people beating on him, but 2 is almost impossible. I wouldnt try it unless you have 3 or more. Unfortunatly, if your timming is bad and the Kracken is mostly underwater when you fly-by, then its probably not gonna work.

So, if you kill the Kracken, and you are close enough to him when he died, you will get a tooth in your bags that starts a quest. You basically turn in the quest for the extra reward.
