I suggest getting a group for this quest, the mob got 107k hp and my enh shammy got him to 30% when the secound add spawned I didn't stand a chance.

it's hard to describe where the dragon since i don't have cords, but i'll try: go to "aldur'thar" and move straighly west, look at the minimap, when the arrow presenting "the shadow vault" is exactly at the N on the minimap start looking for him, he's flying a 100y wide circleabout 10-15y over the ground,hope you do it!

Chillmaw patrols in a roughly elliptical pattern between 47,32 and about 44,33.

Just killed him(her?) with just me (enhancement shaman) and a healing priest. I used a body pull as the dragon moved too fast for my lightning bolt to be in range. As you get the Dragon's health down, the Bombardier adds spawn. I used my Spirit wolves just to keep the adds off the healer and to add some damage.

The bombardiers themselves don't ahve very much health, and didn't seem to do too much damage either.

Went down fairly easily, probably didn't even need Spirit Wolves at all.

Dragon spawns at 43,33 then goes clockwise around the rock due East of the spawn spot - doesn't travel more than about 30s away from the spawn spot. This is in the snowy area West of Aldur'thar

107848 HP dragon then 3x 80 elites spawn with 25k hp.

Watch their bombs and dynamite (they place on ground and dragon body can hide them).

I did it with Prot Warr and Ret Pally healing (I am a lock) and while I took little damage, the tank and pally ended up about 40% hp with heals, so not to be taken lightly if soloing, I wouldn't have liked to try it.

The Dragon does not hit very hard on a tank, the big danger is the 3 Cultist bomb's.

They seem to pop at 75%,50% and 25% of the dragon's life. And if you kill them right away it is very easy.

Soloed as Prot Paladin just keep moving around so you don't get hit by the bombs the bombers lay down keep judge of light up and using seal of corruption on chillmaw etc

I was able to solo this as a Death Knight. I believe any spec could do it, but I happen to be in my Tank/Frost spec at the time. Here's the details:

Frost Presence
Use the gear with the most HP. I had mostly T7 and equivalent purples.
Summon Army right before pull
Use all cooldowns except summon Ghoul right away to get as much DPSing in while army is up
Avoid bombs the WHOLE time
Tank and walk backwards with the dragon once the army is dead to avoid bombs
Summon Ghoul when needing a heal and consume it for a heal
Use the buffs from the bone witch
Spread diseases to make sure you hit the bombers and tap them, so no one else who might try to help, taps them

Easy to solo as a Demo/Afflic (Felguard) with only use of one healthstone.
Dot the Chillmaw.
Fear the adds and dot them.
Occasionally health funnel the Felguard.

I used the Glyph of Siphon Life also to help with self heals, the bombs are nasty dmg.

The best spot to do Keeping the Alliance blind is at the foot of the cliff where chillmaw can be found. I always do this quest too because I'm allready in the area and it only takes one minute.

Make sure you tag the cultists as soon as they drop. You need 3/3 Cultists to successfully complete, regardless of whether you kill the dragon or not & the damn things can be tagged separately from Chillmaw.

As a geared pally I can solo it - just keep moving away from bombs - but I'm getting seriously sick of having to do it 2 or 3 times because of groups ninja-ing my cultists (whether intentionally or accidentally).

Easily soloable as enhancement specced shaman. Just use your spirit wolfs, then blow bloodlust and go in. Kill chillmaw and deal with the bombers later. Shouldn't be a problem if you are wearing naxx25 gear.

Every single day I see a lot of people looking for a Chillmaw-group (three in the last 15 minutes) but, oddly enough, no one seems to find any.
The fact that they themselves can create the group that they want to be a part of, hasn't seem to struck them yet.

Soloed as paladin everyday, Gear level 213, RET spec, 3500AP, 20kHP.

Just keep Seal of Light, pull, Avenging Wrath at the beginning, and Full dps with judgement of lights, keep moving, dps, no need to CC, bubble or lay.

VERY easy. I kill him and im still full HP.

Can be solo'd as a geared lock in demo or destro spec. In demo, just healthfunnel your fleguard and CC the adds. In destro it's a little more tricky but a lot faster - Aggro Chillmaw, pop sacrifice and burn him down as fast as you can (I can usually get him before sacrifice is down!) You may need to drop a fear bomb for the adds. Then just nuke em. Take a health pot and a healthstone, they help. Happy hunting =D

Soloed this as an assassination rogue (standard 44/2/25 PvP spec) in ToC25/ICC gear. After downing Chillmaw you can simply vanish, run away and heal to full (bring food) before engaging the three adds, since they will stand around for a bit even after dropping combat.

I had to prep evasion and pop a healing potion to survive Chillmaw though.

Solo'd as a Druid tank. Pretty easy, might need a potion or two and definately one or two heal breaks depending on gear.

Did this in mid-level gear (4399 Gearscore), pretty decent. Just pop Barkskin in the start of the fight and any trinkets you might have. Remember to keep up Lacerate and Demoralizing Roar. Keep Swiping/Mauling/Mangling him and remember to move around a lot so that you dont get hit by the timebombs.

After he's dead, pop Barkskin again and heal yourself, then move on to the Bombardiers. Keep kiting them so that you dont get hit by the timebomb. If you see a debuff on you with a bombling icon, make sure to run out of there quick, since you will get hit by craploads of damage if you stand still.

I soloed this on an Affliction warlock

what I did was summon my Void walker.

DO NOT DOT CHILLMAW at all yet.

Health Funnel voidwalker
when the voidwalker is at full life Life Drain
keep doing this because chillmaw's life will deplete from doing so.

when the Cultist spawn in switch to them and Dot them up quickly and Fear.
They will die

go back to the void walker and Health funnel him and Life Drain yourself

-Repeat until each CULTIST is dead.
when each cultist is dead you are freely to dot up Chillmaw and kill him because Void has enough aggro on him.

I had several attempts and died from Dotting him up at first and trying to health funnel and life drain and died because Void didn't have enough aggro, it might seem a bit long but it beats dying 5 times like to get the daily done.

Easy solo for 4kgs bm hunter using bear pet. Just freeze trap and misdirect the adds to your pet, the damage is easily healed through keeping mend pet up, just keep dodging the bombs thrown at you.

edit: Interesting to note the adds don't count towards Taking Battle To The Enemy.

This quest is soloable, i have done it many times on my elemental shaman so here is how it goes:

- buff up because without buffs it's impossible
- wait till it flies over, don't go looking for it because than he will give you damage before you land
- Do some dps on Chillmaw while waiting for the bombardeer to spawn
- when the first bombardeer spawns, nuke him
- when the bombardeer dies, more dps on chilllmaw
- second bombardeer spawns, nuke him too
- now finish off chillmaw
- now kill the last bombardeer

I regularly solo this on my demo lock, and it's pretty simple once you get the hang of it.

- Open up with curse of doom, then corruption and immolate, keeping the dots up.
- Make sure Felguard goes in right away, with demonic empowerment on.
- Keep an eye on the Felguard's health, and use health funnel when he gets to about half health, but put priority on keeping dots up. Usually, felguard don't need constant health funnel if you got fel synergy.
- You don't really have to worry about the bombs, if you have decent stam gear and soul link.
- You DO need to worry about the bombadiers when they drop, make sure felguard picks them right up. When the bombadier drop, dot it up, drain life while felguard taunts it away. Make sure felguard taunts chillmaw once in a while too.
- Usually by about the time second bombadier is about to die, curse of doom pops, and chillmaw makes a beeline for you. Answer it by popping death coil to heal you a bit, soulshatter and demonic empowerment.
- Now, you don't need to worry so much about threat anymore, so just keep chillmaw dotted up with the usual Curse of Agony, Corruption and Immolate, and burn down the third bombadier as quickly as you can. You don't really need to worry about the felguard's health now, since fel synergy will keep him alive, with all the nuking.
- By the time the third bombadier dies, or shortly after, chillmaw will die too. Easy pie.

Only wrinkle is that I play horde on a pvp server, and it seems that allies like nothing better than ganking you from behind when you're trying to solo an elite. Unless it gets you right when you start (and if you're alert, it shouldn't), you can usually fear it away. As long as you get to the third bombadier, the dots will burn chillmaw even if you're otherwise occupied. ;)

This seems to be a slow, but safe way to solo TFA.
On the other hand, if you want to nuke him, take some more risks, but perhaps gain a little satisfaction from the idea you've done most of the damage, and not your pet, you could do this:
(As a Demo lock)
First of all, Buff up. I use Kibler's Bits, Steaming Chicken Soup, and the mandatory Firestone, Fel armor, and Glyphed Soulstone, just in case. Also create a Healthstone

Fist, activate Metamorphosis, and Demonic Empowerment. Send your pet in, then DoT up (No Curse of Doom, as, when done properly, he won't last that long.)
You might also want to pop any trinkets you have, at this moment.
Nuke Chillmaw as hard as you can (Immololate - Incinerate, you know the drill.)
As soon as the first Bombardier pops up, activate Immolation Aura, Keep up your DoTs, and use Shadow Cleave as often as possible. you'd want to switch to using Seed of Corruption by now, to DPS down the Bombardiers, along with Shadowflame (preferably glyphed, so you can outrun them, just by dodging the bombs)
Don't forget to watch your health. Use Death Coil, your Healthstone, or a potion when necessary.

I must add that I've only managed to do this when properly geared (ICC 10/25 / T10 gear).

Just killed him as shadow priest by doing the following steps :

- Use shadowfiend on the chillmaw
- then VT > SW:P > DP (i got the agro)
- PW:S
- when the first bombardier come then do sw:p and DP on them and fear
- do step 2 again and bubble again ..
- same with the new bombardiers

got 2 wipes and on the 3rd attempt i killed it

It is very difficult to get groups nowadays, so I tend to solo this as a BM hunter with a rhino pet.

Buff your pet and yourself.
Keep your pet healed.
Kill the dragon first.
Keep running while shooting at the dragon and laying traps for the addons.
Avoid the bombs.

I am usually out of mana by the time the dragon and one of the addons is dead, but I just keep running while keeping an eye on my pet and helping it whenever I can get a regular shot out.

Soloed as a disc priest in mediocre PVE gear. (Mostly 232's, with a few pieces of PVP gear)

Feared the adds as they spawned, then burned them down while keeping PoM, renew, and my shield up as much as possible, renewing Inner Fire when needed. Popped pain suppression and had to use shadowfiend, but really not as hard as I'd expected.

Soloable as Fury dps warrior in 4.0.1. Pull Chillmaw, get him to 75% and as soon as the first cultist spawns switch to him and kill him. Then use Victory Rush to get some HP back and hit Enraged Regeneration. Rinse and repeat for the other two cultists at 50% and 25% Chillmaw HP. Make sure to keep hitting Victory Rush when it pops or you'll probably die.

Since 4.0.3 The gold reward of every dailly has been cut to 1/3 of it's previous value now this quest gives 2.20.03 gold silver copper.

When you're 85, this just rewards 13g 23s again, like it did on 80.

It's easy to solo as 85 questgeared balance druid, the incoming damage is very low. Should be possible for every class.

This quest shares it's name with one in Shattrath City (临近的威胁). Also there are 2 NPCs that hand this one out for both Horde and Ally, totaling 4 of the same quest. Hope this clears any confusion. :)
