If you're just running around and killing everything as fast as possible in LBRS, it's entirely possible that you will never see this mob. It is a rare spawn from the portals that Scarshield Warlocks open.

I did some research on this the other night.
I was there with rogue and mage and cleared up to the first Scarshield Warlock (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/npc=9257) and had the rogue interrupt and tank it until he cast the portal, I sheeped the warlock while the rogue killed the imps and felhounds until...viola, a felguard was summoned. I repeated the process for about 1 1/2 hours and had about 5 felguards spawn. After a while they stopped spawning. I have no idea if I was unlycky or if they have some kind of "limit". They do drop nice dps caster gloves and a sword (not sure how good it is)

This boss is a rare one. Whenever you're fighting Scarshield Warlocks they will create portals. Out of these portals imps and felhounds will spawn. About 6-10 mobs spawn from each portal before it closes up again. I was trying to do this instance on my death knight while i was farming, and decided to try to get it to spawn. After about 20 minutes and 20-30 portals one of them finally spawned (I was @#$%ed when he only dropped a green). So I'd say you can only get one of these to spawn if you're specifically trying for it. =)

While not listed on Wowhead, I was able to pickpocket it today.

If you're a Warlock, this demon is AMAZING to enslave due to his strong AOE, as he has Blastwave and Thunderclap. Also, his single-target Strike crits for around 850-950.

Definitely worth using a minor Glyph of Enslave Demon so you can quickly nab it before your heirloom-equipped party mates rip him to shreds when he spawns.

didnt seem so rare today. every warlock that opened summoning portal spawned one of these, which was about 4 total burning felguards. either they are bugged atm and spawn from every portal or we were extremely lucky :P

Just did this today at level 80 to farm a Phase Blade to go with my pirate outfit. Another reason was because I never knew this mob existed when I played vanilla and was curious about it.

I had about 5 or 6 Scarshield Warlocks with portals up constantly and I got a Burning Felguard about every 5 minutes. The first 3 dropped greens and the next 2 each dropped a Phase Blade.

Some facts/tips from my experience:
- The Burning Felguard can be one of the first mobs summoned, there is no timer.
- Only the Scarshield Warlocks summon these portals. They are located in LBRS (Enter the instance, go right) where the 2 bridges are before you reach the ogres.
- Do not confuse these with the Blackhand Summoners in UBRS who instead only single summon Blackhand Veterans and Blackhand Dreaweavers.

- The way I farmed it was first kill all the mobs around the warlocks, feigned death and then rounded them all up and line of sighted them around a corner.
- After that I used my tenacity pet to cast thunderstomp a few times to have some aggro base.
- Next (with my pet on passive) I kept mend pet up to get aggro on all the spawning demons and AoE'd them dow.
- My pet never died and my Gift of the Naruu every 3 minutes was enough to keep me alive, and feigned death whenever I caught up to my pet's aggro base that I had established.

I've seen this mob many times, and even though it has a silver dragon, i figure this is one of the many dungeon rare spawns that had their rare status removed and became normal mobs but the silver dragons were never removed

Just tried to farm this mob today for my pirate set gear. The mob still function as the comments above indicate. Also got a phase blade first try.

It's a rare demon in lower spire. I saw it once already present in a group, and then later, summoned from a warlock's portal. Dropped the caster gloves.

Actually not that rare, or maybe I was just lucky. Anyway, had TWO spawn in a single run. With a high level group running a lowbie guildy through, we didn't really bother killing the warlocks first like we used to. As a result, multiple imps were spawned by the warlocks and the 2 Burning Felguards came along too. 1st one dropped the gloves, 2nd the sword. Saving the locks till last can be a way to add some extra shards to a cash run.

I was soloing a group in UBRS, (focusing on the lock) and it spawned that and the Imp... dropped caster gloves, would like something thats worth a bit more cash though, =P

Warlocks, if these spawn try to enslave them. They make wonderfull pets. Nice 500 dmg AoE.

These can spawn multiple times per instance, I just had 2 spawn in back to back groups.

These demons are occasionally summoned by the warlocks in Lower Blackrock Spire, but most often they summon little imps.

For those wondering if more than one can spawn from a single warlock, the answer is yes. The catch is it will take a longggg time, so bring a book and a picnic. :p

Standing there letting the warlock summon repeatedly while you sip tea still works.

That being said, first two to spawn (as of this comment) did not drop either BOP item listed. So better brew a full kettle, you might be at it a while.

Speeds it up a bit if you just nuke everything on the first level of the dungeon but the Warlocks, and pull them together in a bundle, x4 portals at once. :)

Bonus fun is that they eventually sync up, and all summon at the same time, but after quite some time.

Start the combat with the NPC(s), LOS behind a wall. They all group and start summoning portals.
