Dropped for me off of Urga'zz in the mine behind Thrallmar. Blade is almost as good as High Warlord's Spellblade. A very good lvl 61 blue.

This one dropped from me in Blood Furnace from one of the rogues, or at least one of the mobs just up the stairs. The glow is a *really* intense blue, btw :)

For a 61 level requirement this dagger is just great and it will last many levels. It lacks stats, so combine it with a good off-hand to compensate.

If you are horde, https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=25494 is a much better way to go and you can get it at level 60. The best offhands at the level only give you +7 dmg and less than 2% crit and you lose a ton of sta and int to get that. Not worth it IMO.

This REALY good dagger for casters spell dmg is better than many old epic daggers which you get from old raids... with that get some good off hand and you could get easily 100+ spell dmg only for weapons! In my server it sells 25g

This and an off-hand combo is great for mages, stats like stamina don't mean much to us because we have tons of snares/root abilities. I suggest this over the two hand staff

The spell power on this is far better than anything you will see before the Ring of Blood mace. The lack of stats is only a minor downfall in comparison to the 68 sp. It goes for about 10g on the Sargeras AH.

This + Demoniac Soul Prison = Heaven for a Fire Mage. I used the combo until Northrend! In total you get 87 Spellpower, 25 Crit rating and 6 Int

There's a small problem with this item - as of March 2011 the item info on the Auction House (mobile for sure, maybe in-game as well?) reports it significantly differently, saying it is damage 56-106, 54.0dps. That's way off from what it is, so be aware until this is fixed.

if you run some BG's while leveling up, 大元帅的法师之刃 (alliance) / 高阶督军的法术之刃 (horde) are quite a bit better and may be easier to obtain if your server has a dead auction house outside of higher level gear.

If using this weapon for transmog, the blue glow will override the enchant on your equipped dagger.

I dont know if it is the dagger but my lightning bolts went from 1400 - 1600 average crits to 1700 and 1800's.

My chain lightining crit for over 2000 since I equipped it - woot - love this dagger. Using the flamedamage shammy enhant on it.

It's safe to say the +spell crit rating replaces the lack of stats. I've noticed that +spell crit goes overlooked a lot, but casters will pay a good deal to get those items. This dagger dropped for me in Ramparts, and sadly it's only going 100g-ish on my server. :)

Was going to hold onto it for my priest but I'd rather get drops than use BoE. ;)

dropped for me, but already had better staff (from rampants) i suppose some plp would like the crit but for demon spec locks, the lack of stats is not worth the +crit and +dam over most quest staffs.
anyway sold it for 20G on AH, haven't regreted it as this dagger is not worth the 100G prev posters are talking about imo.
i totaly agree that if it drops for you use it till you get something better (proly like 10 mins l8r), but dont pay +100G for it. in fact dont pay for it at all.

I got this blade at 61 and kept untill my Bringer of death...basically get this and a good +spell dmg offhand..and you have roughly over 100+ spell dmg...this is great.

Except that whoever buys this e-peen dagger seriously got ripped off. There are better weapons out there if you wait out a few more levels.

I buyd it for 57g and 34s on AH, its the best bought i ever done before! If you buy 40+ spelldamage on it, you can have it to lvl 70! Nice.....

I bid on this last night for 33g, not sure if I will win or not, but I need to upgrade, because I have been using my epic Glowing Brightwood Staff since level 49, which has 15 stam, 29 int, and 15 nature resist. I will miss the 29 int, and stam, but as a shadow priest I put shadow damage above everything. And when you think about it, the more damage a shadow priest does, the more healing he will do as well if you have your target tagged with vampiric embrace. And no I think if your a rogue it would be a waste of money, unless rogues have some super-secret skill that does spell damage..but i have never played a rogue so I wouldnt know

I received this as a gift from a guildie, and I was planning on upgrading to this from my Siphoning Dagger of the Eagle, which has the same dps. However, after initially being excited at receiving a 61 blue compared to a 60 green, the excitement turned to disappointment. My green 60 has 26 spell dmg, 11 int, and 17 sta. I'm just not sure I'm willing to sacrifice 11 int and 17 sta for 42 spell dmg and an extra 0.7% to spell crit. Especially since I can do a +40 spell dmg enchant which means at least I'm getting a lot of +spell dmg with either one (still a 42 dmg difference though). It's a close call, but I think I'd prefer the more rounded benefits of my Siphoning Dagger to the pure spell dmg boost this dagger provides. What do you all think? I'm a balance druid, btw.

It's good for a moonkin because it has a fast attack speed (Elune's Torch)

make up for the lack of stats relative to staff with a good offhand or enchant...there isn't a blade this fast with this much damage on it for a while

you know, you could take a quick stop at AH or do some quests to get an OFF-HAND to give you missing stats and maybe even MORE spell damage.

Lol some of these posts sound like they forgot that we can also use an off-hand with our spell daggers/swords

Besides, whats the point of all that stam if we cant take out the monsters fast enough before they take us out in like 10 hits since we are clothies

due to itemization, a 2-stat item has less overall pluses than a 4 or 5 stat item (http://www.wowwiki.com/Formulas:Item_Values)

BUT

nice stats dps casters nonetheless...

compare with a blue quest reward obtainable only at level 63: Revered Mother's Crysknife which has +9INT, 19CRIT, +30DMG.

A level 61 dagger with 9 less INT, 4 less crit, but over twice as much spell damage (+38)

And enough about saying you there is a better item "if only you wait a few levels"... well you can't use that lvl65 blade of the elder at level 61 now can you? With your logic, we'd all be running around with level 1 weapons because we are just waiting for better level 70 weapons, right?

I bought this daggar for 35G put +40 spell damage on it, and along with Laughing Skull of Arcane Wrath offhand, I am arcane specced, plus the blue glow this weapon gives off, unenchanted or if you add an enchant to it, it has a awesome looking glow to it. Totemic Staff has better bonus healing and damage plus the int and stamina, for all out DPS damage and the extra crit rating, its not a bad weapon for a mage or warlock. Not the best weapon out there, but a nice upgrade transition till you can get better stuff, which on a PVP server, every little bit helps, that little extra boost can mean the difference from having to resurrect, or gaining honer and making your foe resurrect. As to the poster above though, if you are a rogue and you buy this weapon, or get it as a drop and equip it, you are a noob. This is a caster DPS weapon. I am on a low pop server with lots of twinks and twink guilds, so 35G for this daggar when I got it, is uber cheap.

Very nice dagger, got mind from the auction house for 17g (yes i know how lucky i am) you could get an off hand with some decent stats to make up for it, but my off and with it is still +spell damage (PoMpyro mage) but i think im gonna replace it with the Totemic Staff

I just bid on this for 41g which is worse than u guys but hey. Im a lock and this with an off-hand and a firestone is gonna be really great. with it's speed it should get a lot of hits in with the firestone effect seeing as staves do often enough.

not to flood the forum or w/e but just an hour or two of getting this thing from the AH it dropped for me when it has a 0.01% drop chance from the guy or however mush it is. of all the 0.01% drop rate items i could have gotten i got the one i just paid for. amazing. I sold it for 3 more gold than i bought mine for but its still iritating.

this dropped for me in ramps i was like a lvl 61 fire mage at the time trying to get the staff from ramps so i needed thinking it would be a very nice upgrqade with all the extra dmg from my staff of twin worlds but a noob holy priest needed and i lost the roll o well lol but a few days later i got to 64 and got the staff of polarities which is ok for now

these seem to be very common on my server, 30g is the highest i have seen it, guildies usually vendor, or sell it cheap on trade channel
