Wowhead API for items, characters, etc?

Wowhead decided not to do this on a large scale when they had people already scraping the site to duplicate their work without even providing them with an easy way to do it. People were even looking at the upcoming features list to get ideas for their own sites. Once upon a time a site came up called WOWDB. It looked EXACTLY like wowhead. The javascript worked the same way. The data was almost exactly the same.

It was a big problem.

That said, I'm not staff; but, this is the response that has come before. There are some things you can get individually as JSON or XML, but the support isn't site-wide.

Also, that said, the official armory has feeds for almost everything. You might be looking in the wrong places if you're not finding XML feeds.

Now I'm wondering, was it http://www.wowdb.com/ from Curse, or the chinese site http://www.wowdb.cn/ ? Because they both looked very similar to me

Ah, cool. Thanks for the link. If Blizzard is actually spending some time on it, I'm sure it will turn out well.

For someone that just wants to download tabular data for items (gear, toys, mounts, quests. etc) and analyze it in Tableau for fun, you need to create a way to download the data you filter in your data base and more than just 1,000 rows of it...

There was a post about this back in 2008 I'm surprised there isn't any further update or progress towards this. I completely understand not wanting others to make sites of their own but you don't own the rights to the mined data you're getting from the game files anyway and you will LIKELY always be the biggest and most produced wow database.

Please consider this request.
