Funnily enough, as a Troll Warrior, I regenerate 1 HP per tick during this fight. Clearly Troll Regeneration is overpowered.

Here's a strategy for this phase:
1. Have everyone pile up in the center of the Essence of Suffering. Since Fixate is used on the closest player, doing this will most likely cause a random person to become the target. Keep up your DPS at all times (don't bother holding back; you need to kill this thing before people start dying, and for once you don't have to worry about causing too much threat), and only stop if you need to move back (reasons for moving back stated later). Healers should constantly check people to make sure they don't have the Soul Drain debuff; if you see that someone has it, Dispel it immediately (Paladins and Priests make excellent healers for this fight). (Edit: Hunters should probably be the first ones to go through the Fixate; other classes can do about the same damage from all ranges, but Hunters have to be at range to put out their full potential).
2. Have the Fixated person back up just enough to get farther away than everyone who hasn't been targeted yet; the edge of the ring that appears on the floor (when you target the Essence of Suffering) should do fine. Try not to move the boss, since that could potentially get you Fixated again.
3. Once Fixate is used on a different player, you're free to move to whatever position you want for DPS. Melee DPS, however, should try to stand so that the Essence is just in melee range.
4. During one of the 15-sec. Enrages: Have everyone but your most durable members back away from the Essence (Fixated people should still keep the boss in place). Generally only your tank(s) should be the closest ones to the Essence during an Enrage, but anyone who has a good amount of Stamina should be able to manage (DPS Warriors usually, but in some cases a Warlock might be able to take the damage). Rogues can activate https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=5277 and survive an Enrage if they really need to.

How often a character should be Fixated:
Generally, cloth-wearing members, despite the Essence's low melee DPS, can only safely take one session; these guys should be the first ones to get Fixated (swapping in a character with higher health if the Essence Enrages). Leather-wearing classes (Rogues, Druids that aren't wearing tank gear) and Warlocks can most likely take 2 without dying; Rogues can probably take more since they have Evasion. Hunters and Shamans can probably take 3 safely. DPS Warriors have the health to potentially take 4 or 5. Tanks (Prot Warriors/Paladins, Feral Druids in Dire Bear Form and wearing tank gear) can survive the most sessions, likely at least 5 including Enrages.

Reliquary of Souls

General Tips
- This whole 3 stage boss battle is a DPS race, but take stage 2 and 3 in moderation.
- The auras are the biggest factors in how your group should act
- As soon as you enter the room with the spirits, a timer starts. You must eliminate mobs fast, but don't waste cooldowns just yet.
- There is a short time in between stages to ressurect your party members. Choose wisely, because you may not be able to handle all of them.

Stage 1: Essence of Suffering
Although this isn't a common bit of advice, it's best of you blow your cooldowns on the FIRST stage of the boss. The reason is obvious - healing is pointless. Have all of your healers and tanks go all out DPS, because defense ratings and healing is completely gone. The faster this boss hits it, the less dead party members you will have to deal with.

Fortunately, spells such as Ice Barrier (Frost Mage) and Divine Shield (Paladin) still work (although the latter reduces damage, and therefore should only be used when you are close to death).

Stage 2: Essence of Desire
Now that the major DPS race phase is over, you can calm down a bit. Fortunately, healing is greatly increased during this phase of the fight. This means you can take it a bit slower than the other two stages. However, due to the increased damage debuffs and constantly decreasing mana, staying on this stage too long isn't reccommended. Don't waste many cooldowns on this stage, if you have any leftover from stage 1. Before this stage, you should probably ressurect tanks, if you can.

Stage 3: Essence of Anger
Ressurect DPS before this stage. This is the final stage of the fight. Have your raid members turn on balanced shadow and nature protections. Have your rage users release their rage as soon as possible, because he has an attack that burns their rage and causes damage depending on how much they have. It is important to know who is being targeted at all times, because if the Essence changes targets to a weaker DPS, it can use Seethe, which causes the player to generate more threat. If you are being targeted and are not a tank or decently armored player, cut down on your DPS a considerable amount until your MT regains threat.

Importantly, you must burn this boss fast. Waste all cooldowns you have leftover, as this is the final phase. The boss uses Aura of Anger in this stage, which increases your raids vurnerability to shadow damage by 5%, and it increases over time. If you don't eliminate the boss quickly, your raid could wipe from taking too much damage.

This boss is currently bugged. The Spirit Shock spell casted in phase 2 will be spammed on every raid member in the raid instead of the main target ever 5 seconds. Impossible to interrupt with 2-3 casts per second.

A friend of mine 2-manned it with a Pally and Blood DK, the pally was a tank and used to hitting kicks all the time for us in raids so it went fairly easy (as I heard). My old-raids partner and I were looking to rock this one out, mage and pally. Can I still spell-steal that shield?

Solo'd by an 85 deathknight Blood spec with dps gear. The pillar on the top level, prevents los. Basically I ended up rotating around the pillar each time he cast his stun, by doing it quick enough, it will cancel the cast. I ended up taking the damage increase debuff, which got a bit intense especially when I had about 10 souls on me. Took me 14 minutes and 33 seconds.

I am in 384 ilvl gear.

If he something happens and you think ur gonna get hit with the stun, cast raise dead asap. It will cause him to target your ghoul instead. Cast ams on cd when he is casting.

Duo'd by 85 deathknight blood spec, with an 85 holy priest. I used mionelol's strategy, and placed my priest (dual boxed), behind the alcove in the wall on the right side of the boss room. This I found better than where Mionelol had there ghoul, because after getting hit with the stun a few times, my priest would die (remember, you will have 0 mana really quick). Phase 3 was easy after that, considering I had heals with me.

WORD OF ADVICE

DO NOT RUN AFTER THE BOSS AT THE END OF PHASE 2.
His aura will still be in effect, and you will take around 20000 every second or two. I died from this a couple of times. Wait until he leaves and then return to the room.

You need 2 classes with low kick cooldown + 1 healer (doesn't need to be heal specced), otherwise it's impossible to manage phase 2 and you will die in perma disorient and/or reflected damage.
Only "Spirit Shock" needs to be kicked, ignore "Deaden". Phase 1 and 3 is very easy for decent geared lvl 85, just do damage.

Paladins please note: You still take the reflected damage if you bubble - save your Forbearance debuff for LoH. I recommend a Selfless Healer spec. I don't know if this is working as intended or bugged.
(we managed to kill this boss with 2 best in slot geared Rets, but it was very close and it took some tries - can't recomment this).
