This spell alllows warriors to be very effective in tanking multi-elite pulls without CC. Combining Thunderclap and tab-Sundering/Revenge, you can effectively hold up to 4 mobs with enough threat to counter healer aggro.

However unlike the paladin Consecrate + Holy Shield threat generation, without a substantial threat-lead, you probably won't be able stay ahead of mage/warlock AoE, aka. the fast-fun-and-famous Shattered Halls Prot Pally runs, where every elite pack is AoEd down instead of CC-ed and single targeted.

Generally more useful for tanking than solo'ing or PvP'ing.

Creates strong threat for ~~up to 4~~ all nearby targets, as well as dealing some damage and reducing your own damage taken.

This skill is categorized as a spell even though its damage is mitigated by armor as its considered physical, lame.

Anyone know what threat this wave blasts for at 70 with:

Does anybody happen to know what the attack power coefficient for this ability is? Even a 15% coefficient would make this attack quite potent when coupled with the Improved Thunderclap talent.

As of right now (since all of this is subject to change), you get get 30% more damage for 60% less rage in a 25% increased radius (which comes to a 56.25% increase in area). These benefits are conferred by Improved Thunder Clap, Focused Rage, Glyph of Resonating Power, and Glyph of Thunder Clap.

It doesn't just hit 4 units as it was before. In fact it hits the area around you and everyone in it.
"Blasts nearby enemies."
Excellent for tanking multiple annoying mobs like in Shadow Labs and Arcatraz. Sheep? Who needs a sheep if you can tank them all.

Does anyone know the exact range and AP conversion on this ability? Its easy to judge range in battle, but an exact number would be useful. And dmg caused varies by armor, so much harder to make a good guess, I think its 10% or less.

Yeah, back in 'ole TBC when you were type cast into only being able to go to certain raids because they needed you to take hateful strikes or to AoE tank. The good old days.

One thing I have noticed recently, and I'm not sure if its just me, but my thunderclap no longer applies a debuff image, so i wonder if that -10% debuff still applies itself. Time to go for a test I suppose... *hunts for victims*

Thunder Clap benefits 1 dmg for every (5 STR =) 10 AP. at least on my lvl 23 Warrior. That makes it:
Thunder Clap: Damage + 0.1*AP = total damage

The resource is rage. Are you just trolling? Thunder clap is a versatile talent that has uses for Arms, Fury and Protection warriors in pve and pvp.

Just because nobody mentioned it:
Thunderclap is blocked by silence effects. Remember about that when you encounter mobs with that ability. This can really cause some nasty problems. Especially when you realize that silence turn shouts off to.

: This ability now counts as a ranged attack, granting it double damage on critical strikes instead of 150% and ranged miss chance, and still cannot be dodged or parried.

Hurray, finally, a positive change for our beloved thunder-based aoe. Meaning it should miss less on bosses, and more damage on crits, should be a reasonable boost to our threat capabilities.

Even if this ability belongs to the Physical school, you still cannot cast it while Silenced. It should actually be a Physical + Nature spell (the so called Naturestrike damage school, hex value 0x9)

The Physical portion is when the Warrior slams his weapon into the ground.
The Nature portion is the percussion wave that radiates from the impact of the weapon.

At least enable the physical portion during a silence, like an instant Overpower (extra attack).

when I look at this spell in game it just says:
Causes damage to all enemies in the area, and slows their attack speed.
does anyone know how I can make it show me the area range and the damage dealt ? I have looked through the interface options but I cant find it anywhere...

Thunder Clap can proc Crusader, however I believe it will only proc Crusader on your mainhanded weapon.

Possibly, if one is looking for such, a reference to a type of firework produced by Gandalf in preparation for Bilbo and Frodo's birthday celebration. I think it's more likely than I had initially imagined; considering how many references to Tolkien's work exist in the game.

Fun Fact: A Pandaren Warrior (male Pandaren, anyway. I don't know about female Pandaren) using Thunder Clap doesn't stomp the ground...with his foot. He does a butt-stomp.

Now, this ability is rather useless and is a waste of rage unless in protection spec
No longer does it slow enemy movement speed by 33%, and decreases their attack speed.

we see a rather generic debuff, these "weakened blows"

like 10% will do anything. I reckon Blizzard got tired of classes being unique and decided to homogenize buffs and debuffs. Smart move, easier gameplay=more subscriptions, more $$ , and make classes retard-proof

Does ANYONE remember if this used to have a lower level requirement? I am trying to figure out when I first started playing WoW, but all I remember from it was when on my level 10 or so warrior (first toon) one day I logged in and EVERYTHING WAS DIFFERENT. And if I remember correctly I had recently learned this skill (yes it was back when you actually talked to the class trainer to learn skills) but when I logged in that one day it was gone from my action bar. And being the casual-player noob that I was I didn't have a clue of what was going on. Now this was probably 2009 or 2010 so I'm thinking perhaps cata release?

At some point during MoPandaria (or even Cataclysm), Thunder Clap was changed to do Physical damage instead of Nature damage (it always scaled with attack power) - meaning that heavily armored foes will now take a lot less damage from TC due to their physical damage reduction.

As lvl50 Prot warrior, my Thunder Clap hits dummies/critters for the exact tooltip damage (~550) while on instance mobs of my level it does about 280 damage, due to their armor reducing TC's physical damage.
