To complete this quest use Firim's Forge-Tap near the spheres that you see around Zereth Mortis (big and small landscape spheres)
There is a chance that you will get Ephemera Strands on use

This quest will unlock the Firim's Spare Forge-Tap ( TALK WITH QUESTGIVER AND ASK FOR ANOTHER TRAP AFTER YOU COMPLETE THIS QUEST)

So after clicking this item on every circle I ended up with 9/10 Edolic Fragments. Nice.

Since 1 hour of using Firim's Forge-Tap I never got any Ephemera Strands.

And I did the quest, so I don't understand ?

A couple of additional notes:

1. The larger spheres are sometimes picky about where you stand. Generally you don't want to be ON them, but rather next to them on the ground a few feet away.
2. Firim's Forge-tap continues to function even when the required number of Fragments and Emigmets have been collected. If you didn't get any Ephemera Strands, just keep running around and siphon any sparkle orbs you see!

If you're having trouble getting some of them, especially from the big ones, try standing in a different position (like farther away than you might expect).

Edolic Fragments can drop from the small balls. After clicking the 3 big balls, I too had 9/10 Edolic Fragments. I started going around clicking small balls to get Ephemera Strands, and I got the last Edolic Fragment from one of the small balls I clicked.

Dunno about Rogue's Stealth or Druid's Prowl, but on my hunter, I could use the item near the spheres while having the Camouflage up, and IT DIDN'T BREAK IT.

Hi all

You need to collect 10 Eidolic Fragment and 300 Minor Enigmet by using Firim's Forge-Tap on Progenitor Forge ( is a big mid or small Stone Orbs). Press Firim's Forge-Tap next to them if will not work then move closer.

Best way i to collect first Minor Enigmet then from same stone orbs will drop Eidolic Fragment.

I'm wondering if I am missing something. I have been given daily quests to use the forge tap, which I have completed each time. Furthermore, I have done all the daily quests every day since 9.2 arrived. But the data says I haven't completed this quest, and I am not being offered it either. The data also says I haven't completed Patterns within Patterns either, but I have handed that in twice now. Is this a problem I need to report or is there something that has to be done before I can be offered this quest. Thanks

I've gotten stuck in combat a few times today while doing this quest. Even after Alt-F4ing out of the game (it wouldn't let me quit via the menu), after restarting I'm still in combat! Just posting this in case it makes someone else feel less insane.

Thankfully, running through the Oribos portal and back knocked me out of combat. I really hate this quest.

Description

The large metal spheres that litter the landscape of Zereth Mortis are spent forges, discarded during the creation process. The spheres near the Forge of Afterlives contain trace amounts of materials unique to that location. I have modified my Forge-Tap to harvest those materials. Use it near the forges I have identified. The rare Eidolic Fragments have the greatest chance to be found on the largest of Progenitor Forges.
