You have to kill the tendrils that are coming up from the ground. Got the gem around the 7th kill or so. Becareful, if you get to close to some of them, they'll fling you in the air.

Dropped for me on the fifth kill, just keep killing tendrils till it drops, if you have a ranged weapon use that takes a bit more time but you won't get in the way of the tendrils

For the purposes of ambush and such, you must position yourself on the side of the tentacle with the scales. The smooth side is the front.

Got the gem on the 3rd kill. Kill the tendrils or the harbinger guy.

Doesn't quite measure up to massacring a whole village of murlocs for the gem to drop in pre-4.0...

Went to do this quest today, 3/6/13, just after patch 5.2 went live.

Killed fifty tendrils+ (didn't start counting until around 10-15 kills and then counted up to 50) with no gem drop, so I abandoned the quest and re-acquired it immediately. Seventy more tendril kills later, and the gem still has not dropped.

Not sure if the patch has bugged the quest or if I'm just extremely unlucky, but in any case, it's definitely frustrating. The drop rate for the gem is listed at around 25 percent, so not finding it in slightly over 120 kills is a fairly good indication that something is wrong.

Just wanted to let people know, in case someone else tries this quest after this latest patch and has the same issue. I'm also submitting an in-game ticket.

Edit: Just spoke to a GM and confirmed that this quest (as well as a few others) is currently bugged, but it should be hotfixed later today. Will leave this comment here in case anyone else tries to do it before the hotfix and starts to wonder if they are going crazy.

Find the Glowing Gem.

Description

As you rummage through Teronis' belongings, you find a water-damaged journal.

Quickly flipping through the last legible pages, you read that Teronis makes mention of finding the gem, but then of having lost it in the Falathim area.

The only thing left to do is find it. Perhaps the tendrils have it...?
