It is not solely based on health, demonstrated by the comparison between the level 6 chickens, as I saw a commenter say on another pet, you have to look at all of the stats.

If you're Horde, the Chicken pokemon can be pretty hard to get to. It almost seems they want mostly Allies to have them. However, they DO spawn as secondary encounters when you battle other pets in Dustwallow Marsh, if you're interested.

Not going to lie, it takes a while to farm a rare, and if that's what you're after, one of the Alliance areas such as Redridge Mountains, Elwynn Forest, or Duskwood might be your best bet. I got my rare from Duskwood. If you just want it for the pokedex, however, Dustwallow Marsh is for you. Low-level, and practically right next to Orgrimmar, as well as the fact that a gym leader is there, so you'll have to pass through anyway.(##RESPBREAK##)12##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

There is one chicken that can spawn as a capturable pet in the graveyard near Brill, Tirisfal Glades.

- a small pet purchased from Magus Tirth.
- an engineered mechanical attack chicken.
Oglethorpe Obnoticus has several mechanical homing robot chickens:

"Plucky" Johnson - a polymorphed human apprentice in the Thousand Needles.
El Pollo Grande - a giant black chicken summoned in Felwood.
Upon the completion of Operation Recombobulation, the quest giver, Razzle Sprysprocket, starts an action sequence that turns a captive leper gnome into a chicken, which then runs off. If you follow it out the door, it runs a short distance and then despawns.

While chickens do spawn as secondary pets in Dustwallow Marsh, I have yet to find anywhere they show up as a primary there.

I lucked out. I got my Rare Chicken first time I ever saw it. As stated in Dustwallow Marsh, on Witch Hill to be specific. It was the secondary pet, with the primary being a snake.

Found an Uncommon Chicken, level 5, as a secondary opponent to a Mountain Cottontail @ 65,66 in Redridge Mountains.

Was my very first chicken sighting too! Super happy :) Gonna keep farming for a Rare though.

I'm currently collecting 3 rare quality battle pets of every type in the game, the hardest part is finding the perfect spawn point for quick repetition...

I found all 3 rare quality Chicken battle pets within 30 minutes to an hour, at Eastvale Logging Camp in Elwynn Forest.

Two chickens spawn in a small fenced garden behind James Clark's house. (note: they sometimes spawn next to the well at the front)

The respawn rate is approximately 2 - 10 minutes, so you don't have to wait long.

i) I tried Westfall, which has more respawn locations, but the rates were awful. I spent a whole day there with no luck.
ii) I'm currently going through Duskwood. I have seen a lot of secondary Chicken's, but only one rare so far. Eastvale is still quicker.
