The beast Deifir the Untamed is a silver dragon elite found circling a small island in Ardenweald and the target for one of the special encounters needed to complete the Adventurer of Ardenweald achievement.

To find it, head northwest from the Glitterfall Basin flight path. At the first bridge, turn right and head north into the Banks of Life area. If you wait a minute just at the water's edge, then you'll eventually see Deifir pass. It seems to take about 45 seconds to make a complete loop.

If you've aligned yourself with the Night Fae Covenant, then you can travel to the Banks of Life via the mushroom network if you've unlocked the necessary tier.

Deifer the Untamed circles very quickly and even on a land mount you can't keep up with it for long. It can be attacked, but it doesn't attack back. If you get close enough, you're able to mount Deifer and gain access to two special abilities, Harry and Stunning Strike. When mounted, you'll continue to circle the Banks of Life and the other wildlife there won't hesitate to attack you.

The first ability, Harry, causes some slight damage and slows the beast. The slow effect stacks up to a maximum of 50%. If you only used Harry repeatedly on Deifer the Untamed, then it would take a very long time to kill it. The damage taken from the other creatures while mounted will kill you faster as seen in the posted video by Sipder2.

The second ability, Stunning Strike, stuns the beast and forces you to dismount. You have 10 seconds to damage Deifer before it continues it's circuit.

If you're trying to kill it solo, then one strategy is to clear the hostile wildlife in one area nearby the beast's path. Give yourself enough room to successfully mount, slow the beast (if needed), and then stun it. Do as much damage to Deifer as you can before it starts running again. Wait again for Deifer to come around and repeat. It took a few minutes to kill it this way, but it seemed to work the best for me.

You're rewarded a Gorm Needler upon a successful kill.

Deifir the Untamed is located in the Ardenweald Banks of Life zone.

It's kinda fun encounter. Rare is ultra fast, faster then mount.
It will not agro or pay attention to you and keep running in a circle.
If you stay still or go the opposite direction to the rare you will be able to catch it.
And after you mount the rare you can use 2 spells.

Harry is a simple dps ability, that makes 200-300 dmg per hit, and it will be way too long to dps it this way.
Stunning Strike is short stun, but it will give you enough time to dps the rare with your regular spells

If you are trying to kill it solo with 1-st spell it will take way too long to dps it.
And you will get lots of mobs on you because you get agro from everyone around even while you mount the rare.

So the best strategy for me was to mount rare in the west part of the rare (46.35 23.75) path,
Use Harry as much as you can till you get to the east part of the rare path. and then stun, rare and burst.
Get back to east side, repeat.
South sides of rare path has 0 mobs, so just stay there most of the time.

I keep getting DCed when I try to kill this rare... Six times now. Twice while fighting it, and the rest of the time immediately upon logging in. I somehow broke the game and my character is falling into the map. It forced me to open a ticket, since I can't even stay logged in long enough to use the "Character Stuck!" tool.

I doubt I'll be attempting this rare for a very long time. =.="

Edit 1/20/21: I decided to try the rare again, and I'm glad I did. I was able to kill it! It dropped a pet Gorm Needler, 13x Polished Pet Charm, a grey, and 5 anima x6! :D

If you get stuck falling through the world try this link to move your toon when logged out, in my case to Westfall. HS and be on your merry way!

Super bugged rare... I try to mount and just get pummeled into the ground. I have the vehicle bar as if I have mounted him thought. Have to exit vehicle to come off the ground.

I was camping this guy today at around 46.76 26.85

When he spawned, someone jumped on his back and stunned him and got knocked off when he started moving again. No other crowd control abilities appeared to work on him, but we managed to get him down with a few night fae's using the soulshape teleport to rotate on who jumps on its back to stun it.

Overall fun encounter, but have some DoT classes handy, stay ahead of him at all times when possible (like when someone stuns him).
- Having movement abilities did help immensely as well.

As a level 59, this guy took forever to kill. It was not coded as a rare, just a named, and he dropped nothing. Waste of time. Maybe you have to be 60 for it to reward anything, which is bullcrap imo b/c it's still level 61 regardless.

Bugged on War Mode. Will stay greyed out forever if the opposing faction tags him.

In addition to the stun ability you get when mounting it you can use a Rogue's Distract to stop him for 10 seconds (he'll remain distracted as you hit him).

Chased this thing around for 15 minutes, the absolute worst part is the constant aggro from Gorm Harriers because they respawn so quickly.

I've tried this 5 times. I can catch up and mount it, but the vehicle bar never resolves - my usual bars just bounce on and off the screen. I'll wait a few weeks again. *sigh*

Just did it with my feral druid in warmode just killing him. Was very fun. Did not dropped the pet.

Like most things, much easier with flying. Was able to punch him and knock out a few times while a few other players in the area noticed and helped out. When he sped off again I grabbed my epic flyer and punched him again. Rinse & repeat. Pet dropped, but it turns out I already had it somehow.
