Blizzard Posts for Dec 12th: Reputation Catch-Up, Tab-Targeting, Improving PTR Communication
Blizzard posts for December 12th include thoughts on reputation catch-up mechanisms, replies to a tab-targeting question, and thoughts on how to improve PTR communication.
PTR communication has been a hot topic since 7.1.5 launched with many class changes and a lack of blue posts or patch notes. To make up for this, Blizzard recently devoted a Q&A to 7.1.5 class changes as an experiment, but that wasn't ideal either; every spec only got a few minutes and some players were interested in more general topics while others wished more time was spent on details. There was also confusion surrounding secondary stats; the community knew changes were coming for several weeks, but when the revamp hit the PTR, only two out of the three parts of the revamp were testable.
During the Legion beta, Blizzard also published "Class Notes" which helped highlight important changes for testers and supplemented the raw datamining. These Class Notes have not been present during the PTR and since not all specs receive their changes at once, players have been struggling to piece the overall picture together for classes.
Some ideas suggested as improvements include AMAs to better address spec-specific discussions, an increased forum presence, and Class Notes to explain the highlights of PTR builds again.

Patch 7.1.5: Build 23194 Spell, Legendary, and Spec Aura Changes
Following the
7.1.5 Classes Q&A
, Blizzard has pushed a small PTR build with some class changes. This follows a
large build from Monday
with new talents, Nighthold loot rebalancing, and micro-holiday testing.
Blizzard also buffed several specs via "auras" which allows many spells in a spec to be changed quickly at once. These affected spells do not show up via normal datamining but we have added spec changes and the related spells to our spell diff. For example, the traditional spell diff only shows a nerf to
Voidform
for Shadow Priests, but the aura
Shadow Priest
buffed many other Shadow Priest abilities by 25%.
Balance Druid
: Apply Aura: Modifies Damage/Healing Done Value: + 4%
Fire Mage
: Apply Aura: Modifies Damage/Healing Done Value: + 15%
Arcane Mage
: Apply Aura: Modifies Damage/Healing Done Value: + 12%
Frost Mage
: Apply Aura: Modifies Damage/Healing Done Value: + 12%
Enhancement Shaman
: Apply Aura: Modifies Damage/Healing Done Value: + 10%
Assassination Rogue
: Apply Aura: Modifies Damage/Healing Done Value: + 7%
Subtlety Rogue
: Apply Aura: Modifies Damage/Healing Done Value: + 7%
Shadow Priest
: Apply Aura: Modifies Damage/Healing Done Value: +25%
It appears
Outlaw Rogue
was meant to get a modifier as well, but no value was specified.

7.1.5 PTR: Call of the Scarab Micro-Holiday
Micro-holidays are new types of celebrations coming in Patch 7.1.5; each one will last for only a few days and pay tribute to a different part of Azeroth's culture. Over the next few weeks, a different one will be up to test each day on the PTR!
Call of the Scarab
(January 21 - 23)
: "On this date, the Scarab Gong was rung, opening the gates of Ahn'Qiraj. Represent your faction by gathering supplies or by slaying Twilight and Qiraji forces. The winning faction gets to fly their banner next to the Scarab Gong for the rest of the year!"
The event will pit the Alliance and Horde against each other to earn the most credit (

7.1.5 PTR Feedback: Shadow Priests, Tanks in PvP, Communication, Upper Nighthold Testing, Sephuz's Secret
7.1.5 PTR forum posts continue: today so far we have a long reply about
Shadow Priest feedback
by Anshlun, the goal of tanks in PvP, and updates on improved communication:
The overall goal for Shadow in 7.1.5 is to reign in extreme situations caused by
, not nerf Shadow overall. In future builds, the duration of Shadow DoTs will be increased as well.
More adjustments are on the way for tanks in PvP; Protection Paladins were able to heal too much and were already adjusted.
Work is being done for improved PTR communication; changing internal procedures takes time.

7.1.5 PTR Feedback: Warlocks, Class Communication, and Nighthold Testing
Following the news that
Nighthold was open for testing on the PTR
, Watcher made a series of posts on PTR feedback threads explaining how the raid testing allows Blizzard to also get data on class mechanics. He then apologized for the lack of communication surrounding 7.1.5 class changes with the long holiday weekend, and sympathized with Warlocks, notably that something was lost when Embers were removed from Destruction, and mechanics like
Demonic Empowerment
, while fitting the fantasy of a spec, are cumbersome to play.
Edit: devolore on Twitter and Reddit has followed up with more thoughts on Blizzard communication improvements.
