I would genuinely be so disappointed if he is actually dead. Far too interesting of a character to waste like that.
I have my hopes up that N'zoth is alive along with Yogg and other old g's. Would be awesome to see the full black empire one day.
We already all knew this. If you didn't, it's because you didn't play BfA.
Of course he is dead. Blizz would never bring back characters who have died...
This is a REALLY compelling theory and I would love to see this actually come into the game.
N'Zoth is my favorite, I hope he is alive. The themes during 8.3 were so good. His obscure whispers, temptations, and shallow promises. The enemies, everything.
I had the theory N'zoth used our trip back in time to anchor himself to one specific timeline in contrast to the Void's usual natural of seeing them all, a lot of people called it hooey. I'd be happy to see this theory be right.
Ever since I noticed the eyes in the darkmoon faire i'm 99% sure he's still around!
In this game even tho the evidence shows X thing, story goes with the boring and expected Y.Primus not being the Jailer and Gally not being a dreadlord, I wouldnt bet on that the lead story designer knows how to make a good story aka Nzoth is probably deaddead, dont expect 5d twists like we killed Nzoth under his mind controll and it was just a vision that Nzoth wanted us to believe or he was just testing us to see if we can withstand what is to come or it was all a dream. The only big/interesting thing in this expansion so far is that minions used FIRE to seal Xal, giving us some ideas to think about why is Sarg full of FIRE.
I kinda love this speculation, I know it's pure speculation, and I also know that TWW stating all the Old Gods are dead was a terrible mistake, especially when Legion clearly showed that Yogg-Saron was still around. But honestly, I really don't like the idea of reviving the Old Gods through alternate timelines.WoD and Dragonflight already handled alternate timelines poorly, and we don't want to see that kind of mess again. Blizzard keeps using alternate timelines without any consistent rules and jump on the MCU hype, and it is a mess whenever they start using alternate timelines.Instead, Blizzard should introduce new Void-related entity/characters and stick to their statement that the Old Gods are dead. They should expand on the Void in new ways for the future, beyond the Old Gods and the Void Lords, there's really not much compared to other cosmic forces. Let's stop giving Blizzard ideas about alternate timelines. We've seen enough of that.I know it's still speculative and just for fun, and that it probably won't lead to anything, but ever since Khadgar's revival, I doubt that Blizzard made any last-minute changes in response to the community's reaction when the speculation started during the beta.
Excellent summary and explanation. For those of us who don’t keep up on all the lore, or forget details from a couple of expansions ago, this kind of article is massively helpful. Thanks v much Portergauge!
Well nothing new really. It's been a theory since Nyalotha, seeing how the blade could be siphoning Nzoth essence in the cinematic where Wrathion stabs him.
I just want Azeroth to be "born" (when it eventually does) as already being fully corrupted since that's what old gods been doing for thousands of years even while imprisoned. And the speculations of the presence of a "new/different" old god in Midnight expansion would be none other than Azeroth itself as a now fully grown and corrupted brand new evil old god.
I have believed in this theory since BfA, and even more so since we traveled back in time to the Black Empire and told him exactly what would happen. He gave the blade to us on purpose. For exactly this purpose. He sees all. *taps Gift of N'zoth on forhead
I think the deadest old got that ever was was Y'shaarj after Emperor Shao-Hao defeated him. And we all know what happened there.
"The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist” -Charles BaudelaireMaybe the greatest trick of N'zoth was convincing us we killed him for good. From all of the old gods he seems like the one scheming the most and having a plan unfold over the course of thousands of years. Would be a real shame if someone like that was actually killed off with a giant space laser without having something in his back tentacle to prevent it.
