cheat macros get hotfixed relatively quickly, more news at 7

maybe if they could charge us 99 cents every time we used it, it would have stuck around.
Go figure, fix this mostly benign issue, but leave the hunter auto-shot bug in the raid. Makes perfect since. You don't get kicked from a raid for using the @target, but do when you tab target a boss and auto-shoot.
The no fun police strike again. And of course the ones responsible for making this public won't learn a thing.
Having a convoluted system that only a small number of players knows how to use and gain a significant advantage in niche situations was not gonna stay, that was clear. You shouldnt be able to do a pixel pefrect target on a spell thats supposed to be targettable with a reticle this easily. I'm sure the pve applications simply made worse by this change are getting a look before dragonflight.
Wait. How was this a new thing in 9.0? I feel like I’m missing some important detail here. I’ve been using @target-macros for years on my Blood DK to put Death and Decay on the boss I’m tanking without having to click anything other than 1 keyboard button as with any other spell? Atleast since Legion. Can someone clarify?
Yeah except it should be allowed in pve, stupid that it was a workaround needed to make it work right. Wow is one of the few games where this is not allowed, simply make it pve only....not hard
As a lot have said. They like the functionality. Hope the Dev Team implements it in an acceptable way down the line. I really would like the option through macros/conditionals to drop reticle spells like Flamestrike on my @target or @focus if I have one and be free place if neither of those exist. And something like dropping Efflorescence on a player through an @mouseover on their raid frame (if @mouseover exists & free place if it doesn't exist) would be really nice for me personally. E.g. I think everyone is familiar with the blue glowing hand from healing before auto self cast was a thing? Something like that for Flamestrike like spells would be nice to accomplish through macros imo because you can set it's behavior on a per spell basis. Something like Flamestrike for a Flamestrike on the current target and if the target doesn't exist or isn't valid (e,g the conditionals aren't met) it gives a free place Flamestrike. I'd really appreciate if they made a conditional like @none for reticle spells specifically that lets you free place with a mod or when conditions aren't met. Flamestrike However, with the way it was working before (having to hold the self cast key to make macros behave in this way ) it would mean having to hold down 2 or 3 modifier keys if the ability was on an action bar that already used modifiers which made it really awkward to use if you had to hit something like Shift+Alt(selfcast) / Shift+Ctrl+Alt(selfcast) in order to actually cast something like Flamestrke. Not to mention the kinda exploitative way it was used to pixel stack or hit players in PvP.
Unfortunately, Blizzard didn't fix the issue, they broke it in a different way. It's now impossible to get any functionality other than @player if your key combination include the Self Cast Key. You can no longer display the reticle or cast @cursor - both are which are intended functionality for reticle spells. It now has the exact same functionality as if you pulled the spell from your spellbook. This is a huge problem for people who change which spell their macros cast via modifers. If you've got Door of Shadows on a Self Cast Key-press you'll only teleport to where you're currently standing, regardless of the macro's intended functionality.Full Bug Report here:https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/925-reticle-spells-macros-cast-logic-discrepancy/1255041
What a stupid decision. Why remove this feature? We've been waiting for it for literally a decade. Other MMOs have it, other MMOs don't break because of it. Honestly baffling.
5... 4... 3... 2... 1... And fixed!https://www.wowhead.com/news/soak-all-4-beams-solo-on-the-last-boss-of-halls-of-atonement-mythic-tips-and-327392#p5385073
I'm really happy to see this bug fixed. My macros for Ursol's Vortex kept autocasting it under my current target when I wanted to place it by hand, just because I use modifiers to bind multiple spells to the same button. While I get the nicety for things like Blizzard or Rain of Fire, it shouldn't be based on the self-cast modifier key being pressed.
Once again PvP bug limits design in PvE...
When you have fun, Blizzard fix it.
I, for one, enjoyed this feature while it lasted. Would have liked to have seen it stay in the game, as it felt more like a quality of life change to me. To be honest, when I first heard about this change, I thought this was going to be the most broken thing ever in pvp, but in reality, it was more like a minor convenience. I always used the @player trap macro before, so harpoon trapping my focus makes no difference to me since I never needed to click anyway, the only nice change for me was not having to click trap location when my focus was stunned. My point is, this was a nice quality of life change, it's not going to increase your rating by even ~50 CR. If you couldn't land a trap or Spear of Bastian before, this isn't the change that's going to get you glad. Anyway, would like to see this feature return someday.
Yeah I figured this was a bug, would have been nice if it was an intentional change.
